My first time hearing Movements was in a Spencer's last November when I was hanging out with some friends. I immediately had to figure out who it was and why I had never heard them before. I struck up a convo with the cashier and later that night, I had listened to Daylily at least 20 times
You nailed it in saying that this song could be like a song for other’s when they feel unhinged.. like yours is for you. “I’ve been there before, laying on the floor, with a sharp idea in my hand” hit home
Unrelated to the vid; if you’ve never heard camping in Alaska’s dragon ball z budokai tenkaichi 4, you should. I feel like it’s that perfect amount of sad and it resonates so well dude. Kind of a newbie on your channel and all I have to say is well done!
10/10 video. I also think it’s worth noting that Movements has said that Don’t Give Up Your Ghost is the most different track on the album. What you said in part 2 of the video was so cute. I love this band and I will always support them
Same! I thought I came for Knuckle Puck, but when Movements came on it was as if everyone there was there for Movements. Something was different about the whole vibe of the crowd during their set. Something purely emotional and definitely left me feeling something.
Absolutely. The song that left the biggest impression on me that night was Deadly Dull. The whole room felt different. Definitely my strongest memory from that night.
They are such great guys! I got to meet them in Toronto last year but I tracked down Austin and ira loading up their trailer behind the club and they were happy to sign my albums and we chatted for awhile about vinyl and sound 😁
gotta say, love your vids, you have a great taste and have made my lockdown a pop punk / emo reinassance of sorts! thankyou Nate. sending support from the UK
@@guylumalfaro3176 lol don't discredit our taste man. I unashamedly enjoy the new Pvris and Big Sean albums as well. Quite a few great heavy releases this year too!
Very chill lead single - hoping for more energy with the album itself. Random side note - The album title 'No Good Left To Give' immediately makes me think of 'Nothing Left To Love' from Counterparts
My first thoughts from the single were that the band is hinting at a more post-punk inspired direction for this album. The bass line is pretty strong while the distortion in the guitars have been toned down to be more echo and reverb heavy. It's like they were listening to bands like The Cure and Joy Division during the writing process.
i fucking loved dont give up your ghost the second i heard it ive listened to it like 100 times since it cam out its just the vibe the emotion the lyrics such a good song cant wait for the album, hope youl do an album review nate when it comes out
I hope they do something on the album with that whole energetic verse/soft chorus idea cause that sounds really intriguing and different. I love when bands experiment.
I remember when I first heard of Movements when the MV of Full Circle just came out on RUclips. I thought to myself *"Why the f### haven't I heard of them before!?"* Then I started looking up live performances by them and I saw a show they did in Manila where they performed Daylily. And when Pat stopped mid-song of Deadly Dull because he was concerned for someone in the audience who fainted... That's a genuine human being right there. I'm curious if you've ever listened to Nothing But Thieves. Their frontman also dealt with depression, as well as substance abuse. You can tell from their song Particles. Please give it a listen. m.ruclips.net/video/2fjHWl7j5lY/видео.html
What in the HECK is that song at the end? It sound great and I've been trying to look for it for the past 20 minutes now and can't find squat. Help me Nate.
Needles by The Rugged Spud. Old hardcore christian hardcore band from my local scene 2011-2013. I think you guys will really like them. ruggedspud.bandcamp.com/album/ballbuster
@@NateTheMateForever Thank you! Not normally too into Christian stuff but that little snippet sounded great and relatable so I'm going to have to check them out for sure.
I’ve been a long time Movements supporter, still am, but I feel like they tried too hard to be different. I think what made them so great was the simplicity, yet emotional music like outgrown things and feel something. This is still great but just seems overly produced. *sighs* hopes it gets better
okay u ready? So it's from a christian hardcore band from my local scene circa 2011-2013, the song is called "needles" I used to go so hard for this band hahaha ruggedspud.bandcamp.com/album/ballbuster
I've typed the lyrics into Google and RUclips, even though it doesn't totally sound like them i went through every Movements song to make sure it wasn't one of theirs I already heard and forgot, went to their Genius page just to make sure I didn't somehow miss a song they released, tried shazaming it, etc. I've been looking for the past like half hour now. It sounds so good.
Needles by The Rugged Spud. Hardcore christian hardcore band from my local scene 2011-2013. First band I ever got a bloody nose to haha Sorry, I should've put that in the description ruggedspud.bandcamp.com/album/ballbuster
I see arguments for both sides. In this case I said "is" because I'm referring to them as a singular unit/entity. But I also get that there are multiple people in the b band, so I think "are" could make just as much sense. Idk man, not sure if I even speak english actually
@@NateTheMateForever Yeah I suppose that makes sense! I usually see a lot of people from the US using 'is' and people from the UK using 'are' so maybe it's just a cultural thing! Didn't mean to detract from the video though hahaha! Just something I'd been thinking about recently!
Was very put off by the title but eventually I came around and clicked it and definitely a respectable opinion. Just "what are they doing?" sounds really negative to me
Honestly i didn’t care that there isn’t much guitars, it’s just a very underwhelming song melody-wise. The message and their feel will be there, but as a single, you’d need a song that will HIT to get people excited for the album. This song didn’t give me that.
Austin said that the next single feels more like the real lead single to him. They wanted to release one of the more out there songs first before they release the real big hitters.
Hip Hop has been doing anime videos. It’s nothing new. They’re just biting what’s popular from what I hear and see 🤷🏻♂️ not necessarily a bad thing but just my take from it.
I really like your content man! Would you ever consider making a video about something outside the emo scene? I’d love to see something on the come up of Lil Uzi Vert 😁 and I mean hey some consider emo rap to be the 5th wave of emo so it wouldn’t be so off topic for ya!
Do you like the new song?

The new song is pretty catchy, yeah I like it. Definitely a variation from what we're used to, but doesn't look bad so far.
Would it be at all strange to do a video about Teen Suicide (band) or any of those legendary Runforcover groups? Love your content 🖤
Annabelle ♥ run for cover is my favorite record label of all time! So I definitely will. Hope you have an awesome weekend
Hey Nate. I’m lately having trouble finding good new music, would appreciate it if you share some with us.
Saw these guys open for ADTR a couple of months ago, and they absolutely killed it live! They've become part of my daily listening cycle since then
Love the you should totally give them money cuz they are great dudes line haha
Gotta get the capital in the hands of the good baby!!!

the music video for dont give up your ghost kinda reminds me of the video for breaking the habit by linkin park
i see what you mean
I just want to thank you so fucking much for showing me them I can’t stop listening to Daylily
This is my first time being early on this channel. Also, I'm interested in what Movements are going to do for this album.
I think they're going for a sound that has more mainstream appeal, but will still stay true to the Movements sound
Love your content so much dude. Keep doing what you're doing.
aw thank you so much mate
Absolutely love Movements, they'll always have a special place in my heart. I'm sure they love the kind words from this video.
Hope they see it :)
Super excited about the album, thanks for the great vid Nate.
You and me both! thank you

I’m glad I’m not the only one that feels this way. Ily

super excited for the new album and dont give up your ghost definitely grew on me
I cried when I watched the video in my reaction video 🥺 I love this band so much
I love the new song, and I love the direction Movements is going in. I think this band has alot to offer. And I'm so aboard for the train ride.
Dunno I started uncontrolably crying as soon as the chorus hit, which is a good sign i guess
That’s amazing

walter mitty and his makeshift orchestra in the background. i bet you didn’t think any of us would notice that or know the band
