this was great!! My daughters and I just completed our first 30 days living and traveling full time in our 1980 Class C 23 foot! I bought it for 1650 and its awesome!! We have been boone docking all over and living free being free!!!!
Bob, I would like to compliment you - you are always so positive and see the best in every RV you tour. You have a way of making the folks you interview feel comfortable and special. . . . . it's a gift.
I had a 1972 RV in the year 2000. The AC unit worked. Everything worked. I did the tune up. I really liked it. I had a lot of fun. It was 22 feet dodge. I miss it. Thank you Bob. For the interview. It brought me memories. 😊
I'm preparing for RV life! Without these great videos I know I would not have tried. Retired & struggle with rheumatoid arthritis I was hesitant to do this. I see other older woman who deal with some handicaps so that encourages me! TY !
Carolyn Glass yes go for it Carolyn. I am 86 and still in my 2000 Fleetwood Bounder 36s full time. Still drive it by myself. You can learn everything you need to know from RUclips or Google. You will find new friends and lots of support out there too. It is a life changing decision and you will not regret it!
I have rhmt athritis. RV ING was the Best thing I have done for it. Do it ,but not until your mind is ready. AZ is great weather for it.The dryness helps and you have to more active.
It is amazing when your life mirrors that of someone you've never seen before lol! I too bought a 1978 chevy 22' class c. It also has about 50, 000 origional miles and most of all...my mom passed this year also and I'm getting ready to take a tour of our National Parks where I will spread some of her ashes too. 😆 So see....I felt a few similarities with him while watching this 😉 I love my RV. I've put almost 2 yrs of blood, sweat and many tears into my future 3/4 time home. I feel I have the most beautiful 1978 Class C out there. The inside has been gutted from the aluminum siding inward. Brand new EVERYTHING and I did 99% by myself. I just turned 50 and have suffered with Lupus and many health issues during the build but I kept going because this means so much to me. To get out into nature is my #1 goal right now 😄 When I look at my rig and step inside It looks just like a home ( not an rv) it makes me so happy to know I can call it "HOME" very soon. 😊
Very nice man and rig. I could go for an older class c too but I’m not too handy at building and the mechanicals just scare me. I wouldn’t be boondocking alone for fear of breaking down and being stranded. Thx for the interview Bob, ur the man!
What a perfect size for a Nomad. This is the first RV that has interested me. Million dollar rigs are more for pissing contests than they are for living.
Hi Jim, yes it was the perfect size to start, but Sam (my Dog} and I travel in a 29 foot, still an old one but a wee bit more room. working in Yosemite Lakes RV Resort & Campground this summer, take a look. ruclips.net/video/WziZGx5mUIA/видео.html
THAAAAT's what it is i'm seeing every time one of these 30'+ things rolls into our place for fuel etc - attitude and then a bit more. quite a few of the people driving them are actually kinda cranky hoitytoity with us behind the counter. guess we don't move fast enough to suit them.
On the road for 6 days in my 89 class-c. Lost the serpentine belt in Spokane. Had AAA tow me to Post Falls. These great mechanics had me on the road the next day! Angler's Roost in Hamilton MT is a beautiful RV park....spreading 3 days here.
This man seems to have it together, quite smart. Not too greedy, says it like it is. These kinds of vids are so important to those of us who are looking to take that leap. Thanks, Bob!
It has everything you need. I'm a fan of the smaller RVs - 24ft. and smaller. They seem to utilize space better than the larger ones, but they can be hard to find sometimes. I don't know why.
I like it! Is going to be great when is done! Nice to see something that is realistic size that a person can actually live in, and yet is easy to move.
I have never been nor ever will be nomadic but find the lifestyle very interesting...and a “ much larger “community than I would have ever expected. The build outs are fun to watch and how people make their HOMES work for their needs, car, van , motor home ect. ect . So ,I guess ,what I’m saying Bob is thank you for the information and I wish you all in your travels ..... be well, safe travels. Enjoy this great big beautiful country of ours.
Thanks Bob....good interview... we had an older motor home 30 years ago, I named it the Green monster, ... it got us to our destination and back. Questionable whether it would get us up the mountain ....but it did... had plenty of room... actually enjoyed it.. it slept 6 people. Good old days for sure...
Hello Bob. Another good interview. I have an old Class A, it's a 1987. Cost about as much as his did. Has the same roof problems also. I'll just redue the whole thing while I getting it ready for the trip west (Iam currently in SC). His solar system is what I'm putting in and I have the same problem no room for too many batterys. I'll find someplace. Well you be safe in your journeys and bye for now.
I found this video at the exact right time. I am looking at a 1985 Chevrolet Lindy 18' tomorrow. It looks to be in good shape and well cared for. It is closer to 100,000 miles but it's only $2000.
Awesome to see Ian from my neck of the woods going for it Wish him a good reunion and honoring of his mother in Manchester by the Sea I'm from a bit down the coast in Marblehead Wonderful to see his valuing closer to the earth also Happy Trails and blessings on the journey!
Ian never did say what he is racing these days. Many great boats up that area. Looked at a 210 years ago in Manchester. Sold a Rhodes 19 that went up that way. Nice rig Ian, We are trying to get on the road too but have had a couple road blocks health wise. We'll start planning again in the fall. Happy Trail To Ian and you too Bob.
Good looking rig. I have a 1978 Tioga mine class C 18 foot that has the same design and love it. Will be traveling from NC to the west next year in her. Thanks for the videp.
Would LOVE an UPDATE VIDEO Series featuring these Folks living in these Older RV's. "Where Are The NOW?" Kind of Videos, to see how these older Rigs have held up over time, the last 6-years and if they're still driving them. I'm currently considering a 1986 Ford Jamboree C Class. As a Solo Woman Soon-To-Be Nomad with no technical/mechanical skills I'm a little nervous taking the plunge, but would love to hear more about what cold lie ahead and what I can expect driving an older rig.
Just love that back area. The windows are a huge plus. Bathroom and hot water a must. I'm going to.look into a Class C I was leaning toward a trailer. Thank you Ian for sharing your home and your story. Wish we had seen your dog. Have fun and be safe traveling.
Another great video Bob, please ignore all the negativity latley against you and your cause. This is still America you are allowed to make money for your hard work. I'm a die hard president Trump supporter and I suspect your the opposite but we can set an example that doesn't mean people can't respect one another without the endless Insults that are commonplace these days..I hope to join the tribe very soon can't wait GW
Always enjoy seeing what others are doing out here .Bob please do a video on the leaks that create black mold. We bought a class c that that had black mold where it was not seen .And it was only 2 years old . Inside the wall in the back .It was not until I noticed water in the driver side pan .I had to climb in and tear out the wall because the wall was wet but showed no signs of damage . Only to discover what a nightmare I really had .So now I have spent thousands of extra dollars to take care of all the leaks and damage .To all of our fellow rv owners : buy Concrobium from Home Depot. It is great in helping to stop and prevent mold .And as we all know moisture is a problem in these things at certain times of the year .I have owned a Class A and a fifth wheel and now this class c so I have dealt with this many times ,
Bob, great video as usual. With so many RV channels I'm not watching much, but that will change. You don't do fluff and that why this week I'm whittling down my RV's. You were the first and will remain in that position with me. Heck I got your book...
Until the awning, a shade cloth could be really useful. If you run a rope through some eye bolts or some other kinds of hooks, you can loosen and pull it down between hooks and use the rope to hoist the "sail", tying to rope off again to keep it up there. All you need is something to tie it to on the other end: a tree, lightpole, or even something you rig up yourself. They used to be expensive, but they're much more common now, and the price has gone down. They even sell them at Walmart, now, probably online.
What a beautiful video. I can relate to the man I just bought a used Porsche Cayenne to make it into a lifted, off-road, capable car to live out of and look for a property to purchase. It was really cheap but unfortunately it looks really expensive and I feel like, I can already tell that it’s going to separate me from people. I had a RAV4 before that so thank you for that contribution. Also, I spent six years in Manchester by the sea and him mentioning singing beach makes me want to visit again. Thank you so much.
With the little load demand, he's got a good charging system that could survive several days of no sun, when he improves his battery situation. Nice little rig.
You will live Corpus Christi. I lived there for several years and miss it. For a beach pass that costs about $15 annually you can camp on most of the beaches for free... If you make it to Port Aransas try the Crazy Cajun. The best pizza I found at Port A was at a bar called The Gaff. I like the North Beach area by the Lexington. There are awesome breakfast burritos at Stripes (gas station) by the bus station roughly. Not very expensive either.
That was fantastic! Nice rig. Nice guy. I would love to consider something like this if I knew a really good mechanic. Bob, you already introduced us to the solar guys, but there is just so much I don't know.
Thanks for more eye candy to keep us wannabes trudging to get our project RV’s ready for the road. My recently acquired 99 Coachmen 19RD is currently getting a 4x4 conversion and have to wait till next month when I get it back. Am hoping I don’t lose much off my usual 16-17 mpg.
Great interview. Best of luck on the next chapter of your life Ian, I'm sure you're going to make lots of new friends and have exciting experiences to share. Great little set-up you have. Cheers!
Hi you guys, the problem w/ older (and a lot or newer) Class C RV's are: They are wood framed. So...they fall apart. The owner even nailed it by saying "my roof is a weak spot in the rv" Well...the roof frame and upper side frames are rotted or stressed cracked. i do like the look of his rig though :)
Great idea to live in it and test it out deal with any bugs first. Then hit the road! Please Bob, next time introduce their pets too. Thank you for the video ❤️
Nice 81 Honda motorcycle there. I got a 81 Honda CM400 T that I bought new in 83. The headlight doesn't work cuzz I burned the stator up, but otherwise it's a perfect bike. 58 mpg no matter how I ride it.
Such of nice man 👨 I am looking into buying one like that 😏 exactly... for the same reasons I don’t need big just big enough for me and 4 legged children.... I will paint cabinets in white and the rest as I go along 🧚🏼♀️... good trip my friend I may cross your path one day 🙋♀️
Thank you so much for sharing your story and showing the video I just retired And I'm looking to get it classy or a small schooley And live full time on the road I've never traveled during my life And I wanna see US before I die Hope one day to meet you somewhere Take care stay safe Peace
It is interesting that he wanted solar so much he really invested in it, but did not choose to upgrade the rest of the RV as much. For whatever reason, he really wanted to be prepared with electricity. He may have been employed in that industry at one time.
I'm really surprised that his passenger chair isn't designed to swivel around. I think he needs to take a closer look at that. It probably does. I wish you all the luck in the world as you spend 2018 on the road. You must be in Yellowstone now. Hope it's all going great.
Hey Bob! When are you going to post the interview and tour you did with Brynn in the Lazy Daze class C? She mentioned shooting it with you at the RTR and I've been waiting ever since! :)

Good for you, that's taking control of your life.
What a warm-hearted man. I hope things worked out for him and that he found comfort AND necessity!
Bob, I would like to compliment you - you are always so positive and see the best in every RV you tour. You have a way of making the folks you interview feel comfortable and special. . . . . it's a gift.
Ian's a cool dude. So
is Bob.

Congrats on your accomplishment! Would love to see your rig. Do you have vid/pics anywhere online? I know you posted this 2 yrs ago.
@@ArtsyLadyCrafter Hello & Thank you!😊
I do but they're on Facebook.

So happy for you 🧚🏼♀️
I have a LINDY & I'm working on refurbishing it

Thanks so much for sharing stories from so many awesome RVers!
Drivin' and Vibin' mmmmv:
This man seems to have it together, quite smart. Not too greedy, says it like it is. These kinds of vids are so important to those of us who are looking to take that leap. Thanks, Bob!
I agree with you, Bob. I am a fan of the older class C too.
Me, too -- mine is a 1986 22ft Class C -- with a 1963 Honda 150 Benly/Baby Dream Touring cycle. LOL!.
It has everything you need. I'm a fan of the smaller RVs - 24ft. and smaller. They seem to utilize space better than the larger ones, but they can be hard to find sometimes. I don't know why.
Their hard to find because people don’t want to let them. Go...
Ferries... $15 for under 22', $45 for over !!
I like it! Is going to be great when is done! Nice to see something that is realistic size that a person can actually live in, and yet is easy to move.

There is so much potential with that RV! When he's through fixing it up, it's going to be real nice!
Really Nice old rig, the RVs not bad either!
Ian was so exciting seeing you and hearing you.
Thank you Bob for sharing all these great stories from so many different people.
Thanks Bob....good interview... we had an older motor home 30 years ago, I named it the Green monster, ... it got us to our destination and back. Good video. 19 ft more manageable than my 24 Class C.
I did two years in a 1979 dodge class C and I had a honda xl 185 toad, Paid 800 for motor home and 250 for the bike-- you can do this on the cheap.
Hello Bob. Another good interview. I have an old Class A, it's a 1987. Cost about as much as his did. Has the same roof problems also. So true climbing up into a bed is not the easiest thing to do.. Great video and tour thank you..Blessings and Happy Trails
I LOVED that book, Travels with Charlie!!
Norma Miller - written by John Steinbeck as you know and for those who might want to find a copy to read. Great book.
nice guy, nice rig - is good that he found a way to live comfortably on the road as a Nomad. Inspiring video indeed! Thanks Ian and Bob!
Thanks for sharing your home it is very nice and comfortable it is all you need as we retire.
Nice rig! I love windows and lots of light coming in.
Looks to be in great condition outside - something that is hard to do!
I love the older RV's also. Great home and thanks for sharing :)
Nice layout, the dining area is sweet.
That is a great rig for that price, and seems just the right size for me! Thank you, Bob, and also to Ian for sharing it with us.
Bob, great video as usual. With so many RV channels I'm not watching much, but that will change. You don't do fluff and that why this week I'm whittling down my RV's. You were the first and will remain in that position with me. Heck I got your book...

This was my favorite interview that you've done. Thank you Bob.
Really liked seeing inside...my rig is a 1984 Toyota Huntsman 20ft...where his dinette is mine is rear bunk with side dinette...😎
What a great guy!!!!! Very nice!
Thank you so much.
thats what I have ~ its in gutting & rebuilding stages thats great to see someone else with the old rigs! cool!
With the little load demand, he's got a good charging system that could survive several days of no sun, when he improves his battery situation. Nice little rig.
You will live Corpus Christi. I lived there for several years and miss it. For a beach pass that costs about $15 annually you can camp on most of the beaches for free... *love, sorry my phone hates me.
Well I'm inspired! 😄 Best of luck and maybe we'll see you someday on the road. 😎
I have designed a 7x12 cargo trailer, seems like plenty. Shopping around for trailers now.
That was fantastic! Nice rig. Nice guy. I would love to consider something like this if I knew a really good mechanic. Bob, you already introduced us to the solar guys, but there is just so much I don't know.
hiBob. enjoyed it. thank-you
Thanks for more eye candy to keep us wannabes trudging to get our project RV’s ready for the road. My recently acquired 99 Coachmen 19RD is currently getting a 4x4 conversion and have to wait till next month when I get it back. Am hoping I don’t lose much off my usual 16-17 mpg.
I am starting to get more interested in Class C. Thanks for the video
I am totaly crushing on this Ian - hope to meet up someday, somewhere!
me too he's definitely a cutie...lol
Thanks guys!
Ian seems like a really nice guy. Would have been good to know why he chose this apart from his semi-retirement. Great video.
Thanks for sharing Ian.
Great interview. Best of luck on the next chapter of your life Ian, I'm sure you're going to make lots of new friends and have exciting experiences to share. Great little set-up you have. Cheers!
Oh i just love this rig. perfect size!! excellent find Ian. have a great journey
Nice set up. 👍
Love the rig, exactly what I want. Perfect length. Very nice man. Did he say he raced sailboats? Thanks Bob
Nice video. Wish him the best
I like these older ones too.
Low mileage Class-C's are a great value. Just watch out for cheap 2x2 wall construction and flimsy roofs.
Another great video, Bob! Ian, all the best to you! Two Gentlemen.
Rocinante! I loved seeing that at the Steinbeck museum.
Well done Sir, inspiring video thank you both. .......ATB!
What a nice chap 👍
Great idea to live in it and test it out deal with any bugs first. Then hit the road! Please Bob, next time introduce their pets too. Thank you for the video ❤️
Makes me miss my 1984 Shasta I had I will be buying used rv so I can sleep in for this winter
I am a big fan of older Vehicles and RV is awesome Class C:)
Good video, a joy to watch.
good vid but wished you had panned down a little to see the lower things instead of concentrating on the interviewee
Nice 81 Honda motorcycle there. I got a 81 Honda CM400 T that I bought new in 83. The headlight doesn't work cuzz I burned the stator up, but otherwise it's a perfect bike. 58 mpg no matter how I ride it.
Love it❤i have a 1985 class A everything works great 👍
Such of nice man 👨
I am looking into buying one like that 😏 exactly... for the same reasons I don’t need big just big enough for me and 4 legged children....
Very nice video. Best wishes to Ian.
Love that dude solar setup I have one of those same charge controllers. Awesome.
Hi, Ian. You go, Easyrider.
I like the 1981 Honda XL185. The old air cooled bikes are very reliable.
I Love it. I’d really like to find similar. Thanks for everything Bob.
Wow that's a very nice RV I love all the wood.
Nice bike ian thanks for sharing
Hey Bob! When are you going to post the interview and tour you did with Brynn in the Lazy Daze class C? She mentioned shooting it with you at the RTR and I've been waiting ever since! :)
Great job looks very comfortable good luck to you
Cool guy i hope for him all good things
Liked the RV!
Wish you the best of luck full timing.
