As always, it's been awhile. So long in between as well that I've decided this channel needed a reset. So why not begin with the video that started it all?
I never planned on touching The Chosen One again since this is a gem well on its own. But I feel like enough new content has come out that could elevate/ add-on to the original, so I decided to do a remaster.
Thank you all so much for not forgetting about me and for your never-ending support. You're the reason this channel keeps going.

Blending Anakin with his dying mother and Luke with his dying father is beautifull!
Yeah that was perfect, one scene started the descent of Anakin to the dark side and the other concluded his return to the light.

Personally, I would include Kenobi, R2, and C3P0 on the list too because all 4 were in all 6 Lucas Saga films.
@@supernerd8067 I can get on board with that. They all had a huge impact and Star Wars wouldn't be SW without those 3 along with Anakin. Anakin just seemed the center, the gravity, which they all seemed to revolve around, though it doesn't lessen their importance.

Anakin's story is so sad. He has suffered a lot throughout his life. He's one of my favorite Star Wars characters

It's lame how so many act like he's either so cool or some victim. 2:17 Did he care deeply about his friends? Wife abuser while she is pregnant and then literally tried to kill his brother and helper, Obi-Wan.

@@tbountybay3080 Sure, the suffering he inflicted was by his own choice. But he was never heard or listened to by the Jedi, he was manipulated by Palpatine, he was forced to be what the Jedi and Sith wanted him to be and he was never trusted at all. That led him to do the actions he did.
@@based4560 A villain inflicts the pain he feels onto others. A hero does what he can to prevent others from having to experience the same hurt. Revenge versus protector. Don't give me that "The Joker and Hitler are b@da$$, dude." stuff. We all suffer and get damaged in one way or another. But do we try to love goodness and hate destructive negativity and feel empathy too instead of closing off into our own little bubble and just caring about our own feelings as if that is the only thing that matters. Our feelings DO MATTER, but humility matters. Others' pain matters.

22. He was 22 when he turned.
He technically did balance the force like the prophecy said. He destroyed almost all Jedi and almost all Sith. By the end before he dies, there is 1 Jedi and 1 Sith left. Even the non canonized sequels show that they still haven’t been able to grow past their minuscule numbers. It created a balance where neither Jedi nor Sith have too much power, numbers or influence.

Oddly the moment of the podrace anouncer going "It's Skywalker!" as Anakin picks up Sidious and the crowd cheering is what got me the most. Legitimate tears man.
It was his greatest victory that started him on his path. And his final greatest victory was killing the emperor. The more I watch this the more it brings me to tears it's perfection.

I'm about the same age as you. My earliest Star Wars memory is watching Luke take off Darth Vader's mask on TV. I must have been about four years old at the time.
I never thought about it, which is embarrassing, but Shmi’s farewell about “What does your heart tell you?” already set Anakin apart from the others because he was already thinking with his heart, and this is what Sidious took advantage of.
That synced up “I love(ed) you” at 8:11 with Padme and Obi-Wan gets me every time.

And as a chosen one he had to be born a slave of humanity and suffer like a human then bring down to the hell of fire and fell to the dark and bécame a sith to be able to bring balance to the force when he reborn like a jedi to the Light at the end and save the galaxy

This video portrays perfectly why Anakin was always my most favourite character in star wars. The tragic of his fall is so heartbreaking, but in the end he can forgive himself and save his son, when he needed him the most
Yeah, he was able to overcome his attachment to the dark side and saved his son and the entire galaxy.
To get to the point of killing children and then abusing your wife and then trying to kill your own brother more than once. Then trying to kill your padawan more than once. Then being the equivalent of a space Hitler for years and years. Not using his own mind to come to conclusions and put forth effort to think... but just totally buying into what Palpatine promoted 100%. Embracing torture and arrogance and selfishness and impatience. What a character. Poor Anakin. 🥲 Woe is him. He was the real victim.
@@tbountybay3080 You do realise he grew up as a slave, was forced to be a puppet of the Jedi and the Sith, was forced not have relationships and be human. And yes that doesn't justify his cruel actions, but it gives you context on why he did it and how ihe was both a victim and an oppressor
@@based4560 It's rare that ANYONE either didn't have a difficult past or has crazy disadvantages in their life. But 2 main points. 1. Accountability. Why didn't he ever check himself? Admit he's going full berserk and reckless? For example, an addict can have their weakness and relapse and that's normal, but to not even try and not even admit any fault and turn themselves around one day at a time is not cool. 2. Making others' lives suck! Nobody has the right to continually make others' lives a living hell just because they are damaged and unwilling to do the inner-work. For example, he made Obi-Wan's life SUCK! With your reasoning, Obi Wan was repaid with bad for good and should have said "screw it, no one matters and I'm gonna lash out." People have done beautiful things in this world because they took their own suffering as a roadmap on how to help similar people.

One of the most tragic things about Anakin’s fall, is when his friends and family were literally told/shown what Anakin would become, no one could believe it. Because they didn’t want to believe it. That one of the kindest most selfless person they knew, was capable of such evil. Sadly, he loved so much. Too much. And lost everything. Until that new hope for Anakin came. In the form of Luke. He was the New Hope the Chosen One needed.

And he did bring balance. The Jedi needed to be punished for following the republic
The fact that when Anakin takes off his helmet to look at Padme's grave with his own eyes in the "Fallen Angel" short film, he can't breathe without his helmet, but at the thought of not being with her, he can't breathe anyway. So it doesn't matter to him. Not anymore.

Welp, I cried. That was incredible. The best part is, of course, Anakin feeling the love of his family and defeating Palpatine, and the "It's Skywalker!" took the freaking cake. Dang.
I’m glad you liked the “it’s Skywalker” bit. Sort of represents the excitement of us (the audience) watching the moment Vader turns back into Anakin.

@@HeroesFanProductionsQui Gon, Padme, Ahsoka, and Luke were the only people who never stopped believing in Anakin, who never gave up on him. Qui Gon was right, Anakin did face his demons and saved the universe.
All important figures in Anakin’s life that he lost and yet still played significant roles in his tragedy:
Qui-Gon (the one who believed in him as the Chosen One and could’ve been his father figure)
Shmi (his mother whose death sprung his first steps to the dark side)
Ahsoka (his own apprentice that never gave up on him yet abandoned him when he needed her)
Obi-Wan (his master and brother who practically raised him and failed him when he turned)
Padme (his wife who was the catalyst for his turn to the dark side but in her final moments she believed there was good in him)
But finally Luke, his son, was the catalyst to bring him back to the light and set him free.
Amazing. The original Chosen One video is what got me in to Star Wars. I was watching game of thrones montages and the darth Vader one showed up in my recommended. I watched it and was fascinated and have since seen all the movies, read a handful of books, and become a full fledged Star Wars fans. It’s nice to come back and watch the remastered video that started it all for me.
Star Wars is phenomenal in it's story telling except the sequel trilogy.

Bro, the sound bite of the announcer calling the pod race yelling "IT'S SKYWALKER!" as Vader picked up Palpatine to throw him over the edge and save Luke... Gave me legit CHILLS.

Anakin's story is tragic but that's part of what makes that character so great.
0:40 that scene hits me because, it shows how similar bad people, and good people are. Vader is looking to stars surrounded by darkness, but with his good self still talking on his mind. Just like, sometimes, good people can be surrounded by light, but with bad thoughts on the back of their mind.
Hearing Jake Lloyd say "I can help! I can fix anything!" legit brought a heavy tear to my eye, I had to pause the video for a moment just to absorb that. Deep down, even in the dark crevices of Darth Vader's mind is still the little boy that just wants to make things right.
Fantastic job on remastering your classic!
Jake Lloyd got attacked too much by the fan base. He didn't deserve it he did the best with what Lucas gave him.

Qui Qon knew it all along. Creating balance is not one sided... The Star Wars movies are all about Anakin Skywalker's fear, anger, hatred and suffering and how it plays out in the galaxy. This remaster, just like the original, brings me to tears every time. It's so sad to see a summery of Skywalker's fate in a couple of min.

Creating balance was always about destroying the Sith. Anakin just took the complicated road to doing so.
Balance is about destroing the sith as they are the ones who destroy life and ruin the fragile balance between the Force and lifeforms. Anakin simply was manipulated too much and underwent too much suffering.
@based4560 but destroying the sith and letting the republic jedi rule isn't balance. Balance is 50-50 and that's what the galaxy needed. Where the jedi swore to the republic instead of the force.

I'm in tears, Anakin's story for the past 40 years has transitioned into a modern day mytho that will stand the rest of time.
The absolute greatest fictional character story arc of all time. He battled inner conflict until the very end. I loved how he was able to pull away from Vader just enough to give Kenobi closure in their 2nd duel.
When I felt myself falling into active alcoholism I became obsessed with Darth Vader and these types of videos on RUclips. I related his fall to the dark side to my fall to alcoholism. I used to be like young Anakin in the Phantom Menance, a bright happy young boy full of dreams and now I was a man where I could see my life slowly start to fall apart, being in a state of either drunk or hungover, the dark side changing me into a bitter, sarcastic, angry, restless, depressed person. Anakin losing his wife through his own failures was a metaphor for my failing marriage (note I wasn't physically abusive like Anakin) and I was pushing her away. I would get wasted drunk and watch these 'fall to the darkside' videos over and over again and just cry. I'm happy to say I'm 2 years sober next month and I'm thriving. I literally chose the light side and every single moment I'm full of this all encompassing Buddha-like joy and wellbeing. "You were right, tell your sister you were right"

DUDE! This perfectly encapsulates the story of Anakin Skywalker! The image of Padme dying is such a good catalyst for Anakin to finally turn against the Jedi, and THEN TO SEE THE TURMOIL THAT ALLOWS HIM TO REJECT PALPATINE! Masterful storytelling, get this man a job at Lucasfilm already!

From this young boy, who had dreams to become a jedi, to free slaves and bring freedom across the galaxy.
Who`s destiny was to be the strongest and the most powerful jedi ever, so he could bring peace to the galaxy and balance to the force.
He was a happy man with a wife, and was about to become a father. But his beliefs forbiddet him. And nightmares about losing his loved one, made him to make a deal with a demon.
Because of his fears, fears that drove him into despair, he lost everything he ever loved and dreamed of. And his own anger, took his beloved one from him.
And his hate towards his brother, who always loved him, was his downfall. And he was left behind burned and destroyed. Only leaving behind a shell of a man, who's soul was filled with pain, fear, hate and suffering.
But the demon that he made the deal with, was the only one left, whom he would return to. But he was no longer the same man he used to be.
He became cold, dark, unforgiving, ruthless and feared across the stars and one of the most feared man in the galaxy.The right hand, the puppet of the emperor. A slave of the dark side.
For years, his only purpose was only to bring chaos, fear, suffering and death.
For he had nothing. No love, no hope and no reason to live. Only serving his master. And punishing himself with anger and hatred towards himself.
But... when he heard about his son. He felt something. Something that he forgot many years ago. He felt... hope. And love for his son, through a great sacrifice, he defeated his nightmares and demons. And brought balance back to the force, like he was meant to do.
For his entire life, he was a slave. Slave to the Hutts, slave to the Jedi's code and slave to the dark side. But in the end, when looking his son, with his own eyes, he was no longer a slave. He was free.
He was called with many names. Son, student, husband, master, friend, brother, father. He was, Anakin Skywalker. The chosen one....
POV: you´ve watched the original clip so many times that now you know every different scene in the remastered one
Great job including more with Luke as he’s extremely important to the story. That last parallel with Anakin’s mother passing away, then Luke being with Anakin when he passed.

And yet in the end Anakin proved he was still there
Anakin was always there within him that whole time. He tried to run and hide behind his Vader persona to bury his past and pain as a way to cope, but as it is in real life, no one can run from their past forever.
Anakin was forced to deal with his past once Luke showed up because he embodied the spirit of Padme, the very one he loved more than anything.
cuz he hated himself and who he became. he felt he had no choice but to keep doing what he was doing as vader. luke is the one that made him realize he doesn't need to be in pain anymore. he can finally be released from it all. Luke provided that hope for his father, and he showed him that he could finally forgive himself. no matter what vader did, Luke still loved him and kept going to turn vader from the dark to the light. that is true, unconditional love which is extremely rare but the power of forgiveness is massive and helps on so many levels. forgiveness is looked at and feels like a weakness, but really it is the most empowering thing anyone can do.
anakin pretty much represents the human condition in how fragile we are - we can't control every outcome and we can't be in despair and regret when things don't go our way. anakins fears led him to his downfall. he had so much compassion and care that it overtook him - he put the weight of the world on his chest and thought he could do so much but really he couldn't and he could never forgive himself for it all - until luke came into the picture.
anakins heart was always in the right spot - but he was looking in the wrong places.

Man the Anakin story is flawless. Before the dark times. Before the Disney empire.
Episode 9. "Somehow, Palpatine returned. And undid Anakin Skywalker's entire character arc." "How can we possibly justify bringing Palpatine back after all this time?" "With a meme."
I would not be so quick to despair. Go watch Ahsoka Season 1 if you have not already. Anakin shows up in a way you would not expect; I think there is one last chapter in his story. The Sequel Trilogy did not quite undo it.
@@PatrickBateman-q2f Call me crazy, but I genuinely enjoyed episode 7. The characters and the dialogue were well done. The plot was basically identical to A New Hope, but I enjoyed it anyway. It's too bad they never made it to episode 9, though.
I was already getting misty-eyed, and then you wrap it all up with "You already have, Luke. You were right! You were right about me! Tell your sister, you were right." GOD DAMNIT WHO IS CUTTING THOSE ONIONS!
Grown man, sitting here crying especially when Anakin picks up Sidious. That's the moment that gets me.

Such a beautiful video made even more beautiful in this remaster. I love the "I can't breathe" part when we hear Vader's breath. And that final stretch from 7:50 to the end with all the important people in Anakin's life and Padme and Obi-Wan telling him they love him at the same time and later Shmi and Anakin's deaths with Shmi telling Anakin she's proud is just perfection. Fantastic work.

I was just re-watching your original video of this yesterday. It’s one of my favorite videos of Anakin/Vader. I’m so glad that it was remade with all the recent material that has come out. It’s honestly become one of the best videos I have ever watched about Anakin fall into becoming Vader I have ever watched. I thought I couldn’t be any more heartbroken over Anakin story, but here I am.

The beautiful part of his story is Anakin DID bring balance in the end. No Jedi, no Sith, no light nor darkness. Just a quiet and measured peace. But such is the nature of the force: "The darkness will always rise, and the light to meet it"- The Bendu
