When an American falls on hard times, we are not allowed to sleep inside police stations. We are also not allowed to sleep inside the airport. We are also not given a $9000 voucher for housing. If the local food pantry runs out, then we don’t get food. Stop expecting Americans to feel compassionate for people who snuck into this country, and are getting more help than the American citizens who have paid into the system.

That 17 year old is saying he wants the "American Dream." When asked what he wants from America by the reporter he said that he wants to get his high school diploma, graduate from college and have a family. He's under the impression that it's the way in America and the ladder of success here. Little does he know thousands of college grads are without jobs and have been laid off from their jobs. It's been hard for many Americans to get jobs to truly support themselves and to even have a family in the first place.

Actually we can because there are entire states that have nobody in them like Montana and Wyoming in North Dakota and South Dakota and Utah in Nebraska and Colorado and Idaho all of them states in the middle of the country are incredibly huge and have nobody living there. So we do have the space for them. Also have space Upstate New York not New York City where you same thing you have a bunch of counties with nobody that lives in them. The problem here is when this young lady says that she would rather go back home then stay here and be alone that you can't claim Asylum and say that. If you would rather go back home you never came here under the guise of asylum in the first place political Asylum or religious Asylum means you will fear getting persecuted or murdered back home in your home country but you're saying that you just came here because you thought you was going to get you a good job a little better life based on some fantasy. That wasn't realistic. Now for the person who is claiming Asylum they've got to understand it's going to take some time to execute all the measures that you need to do legally to submit your assignment claim. You just got to roll with the punches and maybe hard here initially at the first but it may even out the more time you spend in the country a lot of these people just thought they would come here and everything would be golden. If I go over the speed limit, I get a ticket because it is illegal, right? Following the same logic (even worse), if these migrants cross the border illegally, why is there no consequence?? Shouldn't they be sanctioned to return back to their country? Is our tax dollars supposed to support these people? I'm confused why no punishment is issued for these people as we could be allowing terrorist into the country as well.

Seeking asylum is a legal process. But the process is broken because the last administration never fixed it. And administration before that didn’t have the problem. Both parties just want to play games.
So I can’t vote based on who plays less games, I have to vote based on who actually cares about elections and who wants to overturn elections and head towards fascism. But I do want all the asylum-seekers out of here. And if they really need asylum because they’re absolutely destitute, then that’s by empty land and house them outside in rough conditions. Normally I wouldn’t say that but there’s just too many of them. But I don’t blame people for wanting to come here for a better life. But if they know they can only come and have a rough life, Manny won’t come. That’ll weed out the ones who are absolutely destitute.

We don't have housing for homeless Americans. We don't have the money to help the mentally ill and drug addicted. We have American citizens starving in the streets. But we spend billions on people who come here illegally, effectively cutting to the front of the LEGAL immigration line, and politicians allow them to stay, house and feed them, and find them jobs.
My family fled the English brutal occupation of Ireland. They came to the USA legally. The government didn't feed them or give them housing. They paid their way. You want to be an American? Don't begin your journey by breaking and entering and then demanding the homeowner feed, house, and educate you.
Anyone who crosses into our country illegally should NOT be allowed to seek asylum. Politicians treat immigration and asylum like the game tag; once they get to home base, they can't be touched.

My partner works in early childhood education and has to work with school sites that have absorbed waves of migrants.
On top of existing challenges for American teachers, the next stretch for them was supposed to be desegregating special ed students into mainstream classrooms; ~10% of any given class. 2 out of 20. She now routinely sees classrooms where 50% of the kids have behavioral problems, developmental delays, trauma/abuse cases.
There are whole classes of students in elementary school who speak zero English and are 2-4 years behind. Child Protective Services cases have skyrocketed, the kids display all kinds of signs of physical and sexual abuse. Most local residents of any means have had to move their kids to private school because the public schools have been dragged down so much.
It has to be said, the neighborhood character has also changed for the worse. What used to be one of the most quiet, desirable suburbs is slowly turning into…something else. Kids roam around unsupervised, junior high age kids weave dangerously through auto traffic on their bikes doing wheelies. The neighborhood sidewalks are sprinkled with fruit and other gray market street vendors. People are hesitant to use sections of the local playgrounds and parks because young men cluster in 10-20 to smoke weed and eyeball anyone that walks through. Then they graduate to sideshows, doing donuts in their cars and crashing into each other.
But I guess that makes me xenophobic to notice all this.

Once they get in the system, most do not try and learn the language or better themselves once they acclimate to America. Our system and immigration laws are broken. How do you expect to help migrants when this country is dealing with high cost of living, food, travel and their own residents who are struggling themselves? How do you help those when you’re paying taxes and still struggling yourself (middle class). Most that come here don’t expect to work (or work hard) and abuse the system, and then don’t contribute to society. Also, you don’t know if those crossing are drug smugglers, traffickers or recently release from jail and expect them to be all good once they come into this country with no baggage without even knowing them?

As a (legal) refugee in the 90s, a lot of these struggles resonate with me. America changed my and my family’s lives. We came with nothing and my parents worked day in and day out without see each other and were able to buy a house in 2 years, a few years later, they started their own business. Now, my sister and I are college grads working and paying taxes to this beautiful country, our home. I volunteer and go to church as many of my fellow colleagues do. This situation makes me feel so torn because I know how life changing it is to be given an opportunity to go to school and get a job without being kidnapped or jailed due to political reasons. How nice it is to live in relative peace in your city, where the crime isn’t super high. But I know THIS is not the way to do this. We cannot let people in illegally because we aren’t screening them. They can be terrorists, or simply really bad criminals dumped by the southern border by their government because their own jails/mental hospitals are at capacity and the cost to keep them in a prison/hospital forever is too high. There are SO many bad people that should live among us and it will no doubt cause crime to rise exponentially. I would like more immigrants, but legal immigrants. No terrorists, prisoners, mental institutions patients exiled from other countries… it’s not fair to ruin the American dream for many by flooding our streets with people that are dangerous. No one wants repeat offenders hanging out at their parks, we don’t even have their fingerprints or a way to find them because they are homeless. It’s not safe for our kids and it will no doubt weaken our economy.
I think a way to fix this is an immediate stop to the border crossing and then screen everyone that had crossed. Any such terrorists and bad actors must be detained and deported immediately, and those who want to stay with good reason can go back to their own country for a period of time until we call them back for an interview. It may be years before we call them back, but that’s their only way of coming back. And those with children can have their DNA tested to make sure they’re with their biological parents and not traffickers, and then perhaps have more leniency for legitimate families with small children.
I hope our country can fix this. I mean if I can come up with this plan with a few minutes of thinking, I’m sure they can come up with something even better. But something must be done soon to ensure safely of all of current Americans 🇺🇸

They also leave the hotel all destroyed and dirty. It’s the culture. They grew up this way, and so they bring it here in America. The young man who says there is no future in Ecuador, and he wants to get a degree, I hope he is dead serious about ot because I see a lot of them on the streets running around with bad folks, getting high, committing misdemeanors and petty crimes and assault so much so that a school in Astoria has a drug rehab program and drug rehab councilor because of this while a school in Queens called Hillcrest has a day care center for babies of teen hispanic moms. I just shake my head knowing this is happening but I’m glad CBS has packaged this as a heartwarming, Disney-like family story.

There are dozens of Universities in Ecuador, all cheaper to attend than any in the USA. The young man could qualify as a doctor, engineer etc and come to the USA fairly easily through the proper channels - all for less money than he had to pay to his people traffickers. So he's either too stupid to think of that himself, or he's a parasite who wants a free ride at US taxpayers' expense. Either way, not the kind of immigrant Uncle Sam should want.
