As a U.S. citizen, my family was separated for nearly 3 years, why did no politicians ever care? The country treats these people so nice, while so cold to hardworking tax paying citizens. Of course no media even cared about my pain or other legal immigrants' pain. It really made me angry.

Illegal immigration - which has indeed been "coming for years" - decades, in fact, and by the millions - has been enabled by almost non-existent enforcement of immigration laws. The already dire problem accelerated drastically under President Biden because of deliberate choices his administration made. The vast majority of such people are economic migrants, and not refugees. @@janesmith9024 That's appalling, instead of taxing ya'll to house them, bet that tax money ( a one time) better be put to use to send them back to where they came from. And then once they are returned, the U.K. could send them a bill to pay it's citizens back. It's pretty much the same here in America. It really disghusts me and needs to stop. If a Country can't take care of it's own people they shouldn't take care of another's. And really it's not their problem. Illegal immigrants just need to be sent back almost immediately, after they land on foreign soil, instead they are given sanctuary and a paid way of life for years (By that Country's Taxpayers) while seeking asylum. It's insane that we reward them for their selfishness. They only think of themselves, never think about the country's hardships that will have to take them on. If they come illegally, we should only give them a "Last Meal as We Welcome them back home to where they came from. We all have our own burdens to bear. It shouldn't be our responsibility to have to bear anyone elses, let alone unwelcomed illegals. We can send them back on a bus, that's the Humanitarian thing to do, because America has its own Humanitarian Crises on it's hands with rising economic, financial, and housing crises all over. If they don't like a bus trip then they can walk back to whence they came. Their problems are their own, as we have enough to deal with our own. She needs to take care of her people first and foremost and fix the humanitarian crises here and this border crises needs to be fixed. People shouldn't just be able cross like its a day in the park and given freedom for thieving their way into our country, but that’s what our government does because it's the Humanitarian thing to do "they say", like America's some kind of superhero. What a crock of 💩👀. So these people fled to a Country that's about to become opressed and impoverished as well. Hope the illegals enjoy their stay, eventually it may feel just like at home or worse then where they came from. America isn't the Lamd of Dreams it used to be, especially when our Constitutional Rights are under attack and freedoms infringed upon. So I don't know what they were selfishly thinking. Go back home.

Hi, I’m now a U.S. citizen. I came by plane with a visa. We sacrificed all we had to come here and my father started working two jobs as a housekeeper and then at McDonald’s. Now I am a college graduate and my father has his own business and is a home owner. We waited 5 years for a green card and then another 3 for US citizenship. We never got in trouble with the law and we never got anything taken away from us or treated badly. We did things legally. And it took a lot of faith and time. Although I do not know how these people lived in their homes and how it feels to cross the border on foot I do know how it feels to be a good immigrant and have my light be tarnished by bad immigrants. Those who do it wrongfully and think that the laws in South America of getting away with things and not having respect for rule of law is the way to do it here too. In so Spanish when you visit someone’s home we have a saying “la casa pone las reglas” (the house makes up the rules). It is bad to see fellow Latinos acting as if what they did was not breaking the law. Demanding legalization…and saying “they just want to work”. Yes, that may be true…but you did not do it the right way. And it makes me sad that the Biden administration keeps allowing this heart ache and false hope to happen to the people of these countries. This should stop. These people would have less of a head ache in Mexico. But no, they aren’t happy with breaking the law and being separated or processed so they aren’t a thread to a new country. Imagine if I broke into any of these families homes and demanded food and water. Would they like it? Probably not. They don’t see the mistake they make and they call it racism. Not racism. It’s a rude awakening and one they did not want to hear out of ignorance as it is usually the way. I just think this makes us legal migrants look bad. And I feel bad for those who are doing it right, and are awaiting but now they have to give their spot in line cuz these people demand it….

I find it hard to believe that someone at the border could gather enough information to immediately vet a migrant and determine whether they have been/were likely to be a victim of persecution. Also, him saying that the border crisis hasn’t been brought to NYC has to be a conscious lie on his part. It’s not unfair of him to say that the situation would be more sustainable if the migrants were more evenly relocated across the US, but that doesn’t mean that the situation hasn’t shined a spotlight on accommodating migrants at scale.
