You can only get back what you paid for Hermes Birkin (not all sizes and models) Kelly, and perhaps Constance in recent years. Additionally you can only really get your money bag for a Chanel double flap in the medium, not jumbo and usually for caviar more than lambskin. As much as I love Louis Vuitton, while you can certainly get a decent percentage of your money back for a speedy or neverfull you will not get a return back on what you spend. Please don’t misinform people who will genuinely go looking for these bags thinking that they will hold their value in a secondhand market.

Nice video, girl. I am collecting bags for few years and every my bag arrived from hqreps.com Their bags are so good, also I want to say thanks to them because they helped me in finding best bags!
I really doubt the Chloe bag is an investment bag. I recently bought the Faye Day bag, it doesn’t feel as high quality as my other luxury bags, even though I find it very cute. Every time you show your fendi bag, I love it more and more!
BAGS ARE NOT INVESTMENTS. Buy what you want and stop thinking they are an investment. They are not and that Hermes Birkin study was so stupid, I can't believe there are women still quoting it. A birkin is a depreciating asset that is hard to liquidate, does not pay dividends and when you account for depreciation, maintenance costs and inflation, it does not beat stocks in any way shape or form unless it is a very rare piece, but much like art and cars, the very rare pieces often beat the market, but you need a substantial amount of capital to even enter that market anyway. Buy whatever handbag you please because your handbags have a useful life. The begin to depreciate the moment you wear them and if you wear even a birkin everyday, it not going to look the same in a year. So buy what you want and treat your handbags like the sunk costs that they are. You would have to hold on to a birkin you've won for years even before you break even.
Exactly. Used handbags do not sell for more or even the same price that they had originally. So how can they be an investment?? At best, you can put them on Ebay and recoup a proportion of the price that you paid. The older and the more worn, the less you'll get for your bag, no matter which brand it is.
Love this topic. But investment wise I only have 3 (Hermes, Chanel, LV - Classics) everything else depreciates so quickly which is very disappointing unless you're making the most use out of them and not thinking to re-sell then that's fine.
I don’t get the “investing” part of it. I’ve “invested” in some bags that you’ve mentioned and I tried selling my LV in good condition and everyone was offering not even half the price I paid for. I kept it because of that. Not an investment
Agree. I recently tried to sell my good condition lv Alma bb to a reseller and I was offered $350 which is only about 20%of the original price. The resellers are definitely selling at a premium, I'd rather let it rot in my closet than being ripped off:(
I loved a lot of these bags but I only think Chanel and Hermes are good investments. Those truly hold their value. You can always sell an LV but rarely get what you paid and Chloe is a fad that will go so fast. I remember being in Vegas and hearing people talk about the Birkin being an investment. I didn't know what it was then. I can totally see it! If I could drop 10k on a bag and not use it, I'd do it for the investment. I LOOOOOOVE your Fendi so much!!!!
I would say some may disagree. When I first started buying bags I thought I was buying investment pieces but now that I’ve been following trends for a decade I would say the safest investment bags are Chanel, lv, Hermès (and no not all the styles , just the actual classics). Dior too, but ranked after those. I love gucci and others but they do not hold value and the styles don’t stick at all, as in they are what’s hot but then next year or 5 years later you’re really out of style. At the end of the day you should get what you love, but if something is to be called an investment piece it should be the classics that hold high resale value (Chanel and lv prices go up so fast you’re not really losing much of anything).
And lol at people freaking out at McCartney not using leather and paying so much. Well.... neither do most LV bags. All monogram bags are like 10% leather the rest is coated canvas. Lol. A lot of Gucci is the same.
That actually means you are paying for shit. If I ever get rich, going to put a good chunk of my money in LVMH because they literally sell your products that are like $200 to make but cost $2,000. Then again, that is what luxury is.
Rimu N well with LV even if they don’t use real leather, at least I think you pay for durability. They look really durable like you can throw them from a tenth floor and they will survive just well. At least the speedy and the never full. This is the main reason I’d buy a Louis Vuitton it’s not that I’m gonna throw bag from a Tenth floor but I like the idea of getting a bag that will look good for years and speedy looks like that bag.
@@sarizonana I've read that LV bags have gone down in quality compared to before. That may not be accurate but if that's the case then I'd be careful to use that much money on it.
I appreciate *hidups* attention to detail in every bag they make. Zippers, handles and stitching are carefully crafted to make their bags true works of art. And their prices are so surprising to me!
I have several bags but 2 rather 3 of my favorites are 1. Gucci Emily in black leather 2. Louis Vuitton Artsy in monogram 3. Gucci Boston bag in brown But your list was awesome 👏
This is such a helpful video!! I've been wanting to buy a Gucci Dionysus for a while now but was scared that it would lose value after being used, however this video has really reassured me, I may have to bite the bullet and purchase it now!! x
Shea, this was so great 😀! Of course, my heart ❤️ is with LV monogram or epic leather, small Chanel bags, or all things Gucci ❤️, Which I adore! Suddenly at almost 70, I’m loving all the monograms once again after 30 years of not!! Silly me! Enjoy 😊!
Please keep dressing like this for your videos Shea, this is your prettiest look ever, very stylish & elegant. I LOVE the florals, & the hair & makeup is just darling!
I like your channel more because you're not judgmental and don't call women plain Jane or trashy, etc. like another popular channel. You are a positive spirit.
I’ve always wanted a Speedy since I was young, and now that I’m older, I had second thoughts about getting it but your videos/ reviews about the Speedy helped me decide to get it, and now that I have it in my hands, I LOVEEEE it. I use it everyday and it is my prize possession right now. 😍
I got my Speedy 30 in 2006. I wear it all the time and now it's about 13 years later and I still love it! Congrats on your Speedy and I'm glad you are enjoying it.
Could you maybe do a video explaining why luxury, or even designer like Coach or Michael Kors cost so much? Like how you’d explain to a man? Lol. Like I (and my husband) get that they’re supposed to be better quality, last longer etc, but Leather is Leather and it all came from a cow?... is it really that we’re just paying for the name or is there something else that I don’t know?
Me remembering nearly all the bags from the jag collection in HIDUPZ other apartment on the dimond tray.. I think i watched that video like 40 times. Purse collection goals..
Not all branded bags are investments. My #Dior that is hardly used but stored away peeled badly at the trims. Dior assessed and claimed it not a manufacturing nor quality issue but due to aging. Seriously? Aging? Totally irresponsible. Just be careful which branded bags you invest in.
I have an italian leather bag (not luxury brand) which is in mint condition after more than 25 years...sometimes luxury does not equate quality unfortunately.
A tip for handbag users ~ Do NOT store your handbags anywhere near your bathroom! Not in any nearby closets! The steam and increase in temperature can most definitely cause damage to your bags ~ and other small leather goods.
Me remembering nearly all the bags from the jag collection in LYXBAG other apartment on the dimond tray.. I think i watched that video like 40 times. Purse collection goals
Hi Shea. Thank you for another great video. You've done excellent work as usual. I have just one request. Please keep in mind that you have viewers who are close to your age and that you may also have have viewers who are not. I'm 61 and I watch RUclips all the time to learn about many topics, including personal style and fashion. I watch your videos regularly and I'm one of your fans. I am a proud grandmother, too. Your comment about grandmothers made me feel that you weren't considering or speaking to me, as my grandmothers would have been over 100 if they were still with us. I agree that the Antigona is a timeless handbag that can be carried elegantly by women of any age. In fact, I have it on my wish list. However, please be mindful about the way you express your ideas, especially to those of us who are north of 50. We want to feel that you're speaking to us, too. Thanks so much. And thank you for everything you're doing here. I continue to learn a lot from you.
@Shea, this was such a wonderful, thought out and informative video! Well don’t! Thank you so much for taking the time to educate us on handbags! Bravo! My favorite bags are: The Gucci Dionysus Christian Dior Lady Dior (Red) Loewe Puzzle Bag
Best way to donate it and help less fortunate! Put in in the action and help helpless. Life is short and bag would live longer than us!!! Kindness is the best thing. The more I give, the more I receive!!!
Selena Quintanilla was carrying the Chanel Flap 3.55 and dropped it outside the hotel after she was shot while running to the lobby for help. I saw the picture of the scene where she left it and even videos of her alive carrying the purse. RIP Selena
Not all bags u recommend are good for investment and have gd resale value. Don't only choose the bags you love. Provide the actual info such as Chanel Seasonal flap bags have lower resale value. Also, only caviar bags have strong resale value. BTW just to share too, in my country, Lady Dior in gd condition can resale for less than 50% of it's retail price.
Celine Wah Same here where I live! Only Hermès bags like Birkin have great resale value and some Chanel bags. Other than that have either 30, 50% or more of price loss in resale market.
When talking about great investment bag I think she is also talking about cost per wear. Let’s be real if you are really investing your money you aren’t putting it in handbags.
Well I think it depends on individuals' definition of investment value too. E.g. Like how much you want your resale value to be when you sell your bag, which means you really have to take care of it when using it. However, this may translate to higher cost per wear cos we can't expect a bag to be in good condition if it is frequently used. I have read some that there are some people who did make money out of selling some bags for sure. Personally, I did sell my LV limited edition watercolor speedy and made a profit out of it. On the other hand, I made a loss selling my Chanel seasonal Valentine flap bag. And the Chanel bag was in a better condition thou. So it really depends on which bag has resale value. Btw I have always loved Shea and her awesome videos but just sharing my penny of thoughts here :)
I completely agree! I work in resale and the only way to “profit” on a handbag is to have for 10+ years, riding up several price increases. However we never know what the future holds for fashion and style. Another thing to take into account is that technology has impacted the number and size of items that we carry everyday. There are some out-liers ( Birkin, Constance, neverfull, etc ) but for me, “good” resale is selling at a 20-25% loss. Meaning that you owned, loved, and used a $2000 bag for $400...and even that doesn’t happen a lot. But of course if you bought a speedy in 1993, you’ll be able to sell it now for slightly more than you paid for it.
Thank you for saying this. It puzzles me that women think even the Birkin is an investment based on a very stupid study. It's a depreciating asset with maintenance costs that you would have to hold for years and never wear to even break even. Honestly, buy what you love. If you cared about investing, you would not be putting money in handbags. Index funds offer about a 9% return on average, but that's an average. Last year, I got about a 21% return and with dividends re-invested. Unless you are buying uber rare birkins which are actually the only ones that will get you a profit. Luxury goods are also cyclical. A good portion of the market being middle class folks buying on credit. On that note, I rarely ever buy luxury but I do always feel like an arse when I do because I know what the market is economically. Nothing quite like knowing what strategies are used to market products yet still being like, I am going to buy it anyway even though there is a reduction of quality and a higher price. The way LVMH does business is just brilliant. They should write SUCKA on foreheads every time someone buys a product. Brand loyalty is a beautiful thing for business. It means you can cheapen quality, raise the price and not only will people buy but they will buy more of it with a higher price.
I bought a LV bag gtdupe years ago. I took it to the LV store in my town last week to have it repaired. The store clerk inspected my bag and immediately told me that the bag was of good quality. She pulled a current bag out of inventory and compared the tags and I found zero differences
Bags that don't go on sale are the safest investments, Hermes being at the top. The Birkin, Constance and Kelly keep their value really well, whereas Hermes' less pricey bags do not (Picotin, Garden Party, etc). Conversely with Chanel, I've bought and sold classics and reissues and have always lost a huge chunk of money from them. They are not rare enough. Their vintage pieces fare better in the resale market, and their lower priced items, such as the WOC or mini, perhaps because they are set at a more comfortable price range for most collectors. LV is kind of in the middle. Coveted classics keep their value, but their trendy seasonal styles do not. My Pochette Metis sold for almost as much as I paid for, even have having used it for 2 years.
I use ThredUP and can get some new or like new designer bags and other clothes for a VERY affordable price. I buy the designer products in “New with tags, Like new, or gently used” and non designer things only as “New with Tags” 💕
I personally wouldn't consider anything else a good investment than Hermes, Chanel and Louis Vuitton classic styles. In this order. :) But that's my opinion. Great video though! I was actually surprised you come up with 15. :)
I agree with your choice! I really love the *gtdupe* bag! You should do a video on the best bags for summer. I’m currently looking for a summer bag in white or neutral colors and don’t know what to buy.
You look so pretty - love your hair!! My next purchase will definitely be the Chanel Jumbo Flap/Caviar/Silver. I love that bag so much and it definitely stands the test of time. I just got the LV Pochette Metis (which I love!!) and Gucci Dionysus WOC instead but the Chanel will definitely be next.
Love the *gtdupe* , will be taking it to go to work. I love all the ability to organize everything w pockets some w zippers. My first bag had the liner rip. They replaced it faster than I could ship return. Thank you!
Yes, but sadly it doesn’t hold its value unless it’s worn by Kate Middleton or some high caliber individuals. I have many Marmonts mystery, especially in the color you mentioned
Love this video! I’m surprised you didn’t include the Hermes Constance! It’s even harder to find than the Birkin or Kelly even though it’s not as well-known.
Just bought LV Neverfull for my wife today, 5 years after this video. The price is now USD 2700 (in this video still USD 1,100). More than 100% in 5 years.
I love this video!! I have learned soo much, about handbags, and to me it is very very interesting!! But I see these handbags as a extremely GREAT INVESTMENT!! So really I feel like they are not only wonderful to enjoy, they are like having money in the bank!! Like it is like having the best of both worlds! Thank you so much for a very fantastic video Shea!!
Such a great, informative video! Love watching your videos :) Totally agree on the Hermes, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Celine choices for great investment pieces!! Thanks for sharing!!!
I dont think bags are the best investments.ITs to expensive ita just for fashions only.If you want investments why not try to buy a jewelries or real estate it is a better investment the value of of jewelries and real estate are high in the nrar future..its just my opinions...Bags abd anythibg it is just for fashions..
I use my Salvatore Ferragamo envelope bag and another of the collection for day to day. I love that it's a heavy sturdy leather (soft but yet lightweight) and I have flats, belts and scarves to match! The flats have the hard leather soles which I had taps placed on them. But I always receive complements of how "polished" my look is. Which is exactly why I love the Italians. I don't like carrying the same bag everyone else is. I also carry Goyard which is older than Louis Vuitton and I think is "classier". I was also carrying the Edinburgh Strathberry before the "Markel Sparkle" swept women's consciousness.
I feel like after Chanel you should have mentioned Goyard, it was not mentioned at all. The fact that they are hush hush about prices and items makes them extremely exclusive and I have seen bags resell for much more than retail, especially since they have only about 10+ stores located in the world. Hermes, Chanel, Goyard & some LV are the only ones I could see being investments. I purchased my Antigona preloved for half the price and it great condition, so I would never purchase any Givenchy at retail nor Saint Laurent well except for the card holder.
A vanity runway... I know a woman who has a lot of luxury bags and she is not rich. One year ago got a cancer diagnosis, and she has dozens of bags she has not use yet...
I have just added to my collection a lady Dior (pearl grey /lambskin) in brand new condition ( never used with stickers ), I saved 30 % of retail price and happy about it , awesome bag . I wonder why it doesn’t hold the resell value it is beautiful and very classic
Love this video! My bag collection seems similar to yours! Love the colors and styles! And I’m soooo appreciative of your honesty and saying when you didn’t purchase with your own money vs being sent or receiving a gift Card!!! Love the honesty!!!
I bought my Timeless in 2022, after years of saving, and I kind of wanted it to be a special moment, but I ended up buying it after a long day at work KKUWAN , nothing crazy, honestly a great memory. For the price, I had to go with sheepskin which is my favorite. No scratches but
Great and informative video hon😘. I’m not sure about the Chloe, Givenchy, and Loewe (though I want one 😂) being a good investment just because I don’t think they’ll stay classics. BUT.. the big question is.. do you see yourself getting a Birkin or Kelly? I’m sure you get that all the time! 😘 I’m leaning towards the Kelly. Thanks for sharing girl! xx💋
Love this! Agree with you on everything! I can only dream! At least I have the Speedy B 30 in damier ebene . So informative!! This is why you have so many subscribers and it grew sooo fast is because you always come up with very interesting and informative topics. We, your subscribers can tell that you really think about your videos and you want us to learn in the process. Your channel has exponentially grown and surpasses all the people you admire. And...you’re sooo pretty and sooo nice!!! You are my fave RUclips and Instagram star! Thanks Shea for always keeping it so interesting! More power to you and your beautiful family❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh my goodness....this was such a wonderful comment and made my heart happy!!! Thank you SO much for your kind words. Thank you thank you thank you!!!! Much love
Great video! I just wish you hadn’t said that a certain bag could be carried by a woman in her 20s, 30s, 40s, and “even your grandmother.” You don’t want to offend your viewers by suggesting a woman over 49 is of grandma age! 😳
I kind of cringed when she said that too, but I know Shea didn't mean it like it sounded. I think she was speaking to the timelessness and ability of the bag to make a woman of any age classic and stylisih.
Karen Cooper-Ray I agree that she only meant the comment in a positive way! I wasn’t actually annoyed by it, but amused because I fall into that over 49 category and still enjoy and learn from her videos.
Anne M , me too! I am over 50 and only recently fallen in love with high-end designer handbags. Probably because after decades of working my keester off, I have a little money to spend on them. I learn so much from Shea!
Well mathematically speaking over (and even under) 49 IS gma age, but I also cringed a little bit like if u are over 40's u are obviously a grandma and can "maybe" still be stylish. I'm 38 btw and plan to be rocking it, whatever "it" is, my style determined by me, til I die lol
@@firecrkr7480 I'm 55 and I feel the same way. I don't have children so I will never be a grandmother. I do have a niece and as she told me I'm the cool aunt! I'll always care how I look, take good care of myself and be stylish.

I really doubt the Chloe bag is an investment bag. I recently bought the Faye Day bag, it doesn’t feel as high quality as my other luxury bags, even though I find it very cute.

ABSOLUTELY
Exactly. Used handbags do not sell for more or even the same price that they had originally. So how can they be an investment?? At best, you can put them on Ebay and recoup a proportion of the price that you paid. The older and the more worn, the less you'll get for your bag, no matter which brand it is.

Bags as an investment?....and here I am purchasing real estate. I could have saved a lot of money!!
@@shockingblue55You say that because you don't know the used hand bag market well, especially those style that stopped being produced.
Yudy Davila Everyone has the LV bag and this video is just her view on her bags..
Eh apart from the Birkin and Chanel most bags depreciate like any other purchase
You are absolutely right, you cannot buy a speedy at $1000 and sell it for $800 and say its an investment; Its consider a loss not an investment.
You know why? They're not leather and everyone own it unlike hermes.
Agree. I recently tried to sell my good condition lv Alma bb to a reseller and I was offered $350 which is only about 20%of the original price. The resellers are definitely selling at a premium, I'd rather let it rot in my closet than being ripped off:(
This video will never go old. After so many years, I still come back to it before I buy a bag. You nailed it!!
The variety of textures in the HIDUPZ pack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.
I totally agree with u on almost all the bag . I got the cloe drew and the Chanel boy bag ... I got so many compliments for both 😊
The lady Dior is everything
The variety of textures in the *yutulu* pack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.
I buy bag that i really like and that i’m sure to wear , not thinking about the resale value!!

I have several bags but 2 rather 3 of my favorites are
1. Gucci Emily in black leather
2. Louis Vuitton Artsy in monogram
3. Gucci Boston bag in brown
But your list was awesome 👏
Love LYXBAG the way you show it! You really focus on showing off the bag. I don't think any other RUclipsr can show off bags in as much detail as you.
This is such a helpful video!! I've been wanting to buy a Gucci Dionysus for a while now but was scared that it would lose value after being used, however this video has really reassured me, I may have to bite the bullet and purchase it now!! x
Purchase it! I just did 🤍
I’m definitely about to buy this bag! It’s way too perfect
I'm 13 and I have a authentic coach purse that's the one of the nicest handbags I have
I agree with all of them! the celine trapeze bag is also another classic
Shea, this was so great 😀! Of course, my heart ❤️ is with LV monogram or epic leather, small Chanel bags, or all things Gucci ❤️, Which I adore! Suddenly at almost 70,
I’m loving all the monograms once again after 30 years of not!! Silly me! Enjoy 😊!
I came from 2020. I love how you looks in 2 years later!
Please keep dressing like this for your videos Shea, this is your prettiest look ever, very stylish & elegant. I LOVE the florals, & the hair & makeup is just darling!
This was such an informative video. There was facts that I never knew.
The dionysus is the most beautiful and I already save my money, to get that thing 😍
I just brought mine two weeks ago in a medium!! I did a unboxing and review on it! Hope you can watch
he variety of textures in the hidupz tpack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.
I like your channel more because you're not judgmental and don't call women plain Jane or trashy, etc. like another popular channel. You are a positive spirit.
I love the Fendi Peekaboo!! I definitely think it is such a classic 👌
Great list, I would’ve included the LV pochette metis - it’s such a great grab and go bag and has increased in price since I purchased it, so score!
Lol. Like I (and my husband) get that they’re supposed to be better quality, last longer etc, but Leather is Leather and it all came from a cow?... is it really that we’re just paying for the name or is there something else that I don’t know?

how about Bottega Venetta? Thats a classic. Im not sure about the Chloe
Not all branded bags are investments. My #Dior that is hardly used but stored away peeled badly at the trims. Dior assessed and claimed it not a manufacturing nor quality issue but due to aging. Seriously? Aging? Totally irresponsible. Just be careful which branded bags you invest in.
Bags do depreciate which is why I tell women to stop thinking of them as an investment and buy what you want.
Mirabel Ng that is why everyone should use their bags
paulabeajustine Station the bag was a gift and not something I chose myself. I only carry bags I like.
I have an italian leather bag (not luxury brand) which is in mint condition after more than 25 years...sometimes luxury does not equate quality unfortunately.
A tip for handbag users ~ Do NOT store your handbags anywhere near your bathroom!
Not in any nearby closets! The steam and increase in temperature can most definitely
cause damage to your bags ~ and other small leather goods.
Come across this video randomly and I watched LYXBAG . OMG your closet is every women’s dream! Love your voice and the way you talk
When people are saying amzwatch’s bag is a better option,I very much agree!
The Classic Chanel Flop... I need to start saving for that bag.

Bravo!
My favorite bags are:
The Gucci Dionysus
Christian Dior Lady Dior (Red)
Loewe Puzzle Bag
Best way to donate it and help less fortunate! Put in in the action and help helpless. Life is short and bag would live longer than us!!! Kindness is the best thing. The more I give, the more I receive!!!
the LYXBAG would be super cute during the fall with a nude or tan or even tonal outfit! i’m thinking a tan wool coat with that bag!!
Selena Quintanilla was carrying the Chanel Flap 3.55 and dropped it outside the hotel after she was shot while running to the lobby for help. I saw the picture of the scene where she left it and even videos of her alive carrying the purse. RIP Selena
La Reine who cares what some dead Mexican wore
It means you can cheapen quality, raise the price and not only will people buy but they will buy more of it with a higher price.
the *gtdupe* would be super cute during the fall with a nude or tan or even tonal outfit! i’m thinking a tan wool coat with that bag!!
Loving loving the hair and makeup!!! Great vid. Almost at 300k
Its actually called the Givenchy Antigona I thought
Anna Morrione agree it’s an a at the end not an e
Anna---Correct.
Love what you’re wearing from your earrings to your lipstick .
Great taste in bags by the way another video I enjoyed very much
I can’t explain how accurate this video is
I use ThredUP and can get some new or like new designer bags and other clothes for a VERY affordable price.
Mea G. Agree a genuine investment is a bag that isn’t trendy but a classic
I agree!
I actually agree with Mea G. except in the order of Chanle, LV, Hermes.
Excellent video. I love how you covered the history of each purse.
Amazing job presenting the history behind each bag. Congrats!
HEY HIDUPZ !! I have been watching you for years and im so proud of where you have made it! I love you so much! Also thanks for making my day.

Love the *gtdupe* , will be taking it to go to work. I love all the ability to organize everything w pockets some w zippers. My first bag had the liner rip. They replaced it faster than I could ship return. Thank you!
The Gucci Marmont Matalasse bag in dusty pink should be on this list too! That bag goes with everything! Great video Shea!
Oh there were SO many I wanted to include!!! Love the Constance though!! Thanks for watching :)

Jacqueline Payne I love Ferragamo accessories.
I was in Turkey recently and had a empriente multi pouchette with me. They show me a HIDUPZ bag and it looked just like it.
You may add also LV Alma
Thanks for sharing girl! xx💋

I love the small skull bags by Alexander McQueen.
