Wow this is great stuff, such a shame this song didn't find its way onto the Bonfire box set when it was released in the late 90s. Powerage is my favourite AC/DC album from my all time favourite band. It's not all polished up like the mutt Lange stuff, it's way more raw and gritty with a strong blues influence. Bon Scott never sounded better to me than on this album and his lyrics on this are the finest he ever wrote. There's a real sincerity and conviction in his singing and lyrics that give this album a more serious edge none of their other albums before or after it have had. Angus Young's solos are some of the most bluesiest soulful he has ever produced. It's such an honest Rock n Roll album, no bullshit whatsoever, 10/10 for me.
That's a great comment. The band had something to prove against the John Travolta music industry in Australia at the time who didn't want any real Rock n Roll poisoning the sanitized radio wave-lengths. I always thought that Highway to Hell was overproduced for some reason but I can't blame AC/DC for going for a more radio friendly sound and trying to sell more records. I believe Back in Black was overproduced and produced by Mutt Lange but I'm not sure about Highway to Hell. Highway to Hell just sounds more polished to me than Powerage. The album cover of Powerage doesn't demonstrate how sexy the band members are to young teen-agers and probably wasn't as cool as Saturday Night Fever. The music is a lot better on Powerage though compared to the music on Saturday Night Fever.
mikegan73 Yep on all counts. But especially its Bluesy and serious or raw Powerage Having some trouble with the disco talk. Lol. If we strayed from acdc ...... I agree 100%, this is my favorite song from my favorite AC/DC album. Don’t get me wrong, I love highway to hell, but like you said it sounds polished, and the band lost raw garage band sound that it had in its early albums. Bon Scott reached his peak in song writing with this album.
I could listen to Malcom and Angus at the end of this version forever without getting sick of it. Frickin awesome. If only they kept going for another 15 minutes or longer.
Daughters account. This shit is so good that now in 2022 kids gave up on the new shit and wanted something Good to hear. True story thank God everyone is getting into the old good shit
ACDC have four best albums: Let there be rock, Powerage, Highway to Hell and Back in Black. That period of time was monumental for me and them. This tune is a masterclass in rock music.
exactamundo and that's why the Bon era rules, Highway and Back cross each other out but Powerage and Let there be rock are the two best albums after that
@@clubhouseme Yep. Agreed. Brian sings songs but Bon told stories. At the time it felt as though he was singing about my life, my friends and the band I was in. I love BIB, it is a complete work, every tune is just sublime but from then on in, the 'vibe' and the raw funkiness took a nosedive. Sure, there are a few tracks dotted through the albums that followed and even Demon Fire on the new album is OK but nothing compares to the feel and themes of the the Bon era.
@@shaunloynds5317 I see what you mean but I think that’s a function of life and time...no way can an album from say 2008 mean what an album we grew up means...it’s part of us....truth is, black ice and rock or bust get better every year....I notice this with all my fave bands....it’s gonna take a few years but their later stuff is really good....
Bon was part of the beginning. Brian kept it going. Without either of them, there would have been no AC/DC. As much of a Bon fan I am, I will not and we as fans should not deny that Brian kept the spirit of AC/DC alive and rocking! \m/
I agree. I appreciate and love Brian for the reasons you mentioned but tbh it's nearly impossible to listen to anything they did as a band after BIB. I wish it wasn't the case, but it is. The best part about them keeping the band going with Brian is that it gave you a chance to look back in their catalog and discover what a great band they had been with Bonn.
100% agree to you. Brian is the very best replacement AC/DC could get. It is a shame (in my heart) that i prefer the Bon-Songs, because he was the better frontman and had the much dirtier lyrics. But it was with Brian and his genius that AC/DC turned into the greatest rock´n´roll-band ever. And brian is - for sure - the much better human being...
Jailbreak _79 absolutely Love that big white falcon Yeah. I pretty much gotta have 2 guitars Rythym and lead Three piece bands seem wanting I gotta have it. And the SG ? Malcolm is the master of the rhythm/power guitar. That is ACDC for me. When I first heard ACDC...Dirty Deeds and Rosie it was the ATOMIC power chords of Malcolm that hooked me. (and I love playing lead personally).
Would love to get a copy of this album. This live version is an absolute classic at the height of their powers. Malcolm’s rhythm playing here is pure perfection.
Was this concert at a smaller arena? I saw them in 78 or 79 at a place called the Tennessee theater, I was only 15 but I remember it was a great show, maybe 500 people and I never got carded when buying beer, thought I was almost an adult, after the show dudes car had starter trouble and metro police tried to jump start our bomb and since it needed a starter they hauled our underage public drunks to jail. good times.
If someone were to ask me what straight up rock n roll is, I’d show them this album. Unfiltered, uncleaned, soulful, and gritty rock n roll. Just the way it should be.
ACDC has always been A band you can rely on to bring on the straightforward kick ass rock ‘n’ roll that’s easy to hang onto, Just keep producing those hard-hitting baselines an awesome drum beats and tremendous rock ‘n’ roll rhythm and lead Do your thing AC/DC!
What a sound ! the perfect alchemy ...so magic for me, french fan since 45 years, everyday happy to cross their road, raw version, unknown for me ! thank UUUUUU !
I've always considered Gone Shootin' a slow burner. The initial guitar lick gets your head bopping to the beat. By the time the chorus hits, your feet are tapping along. By the time Angus's solo hits, your environment immediately becomes endangered.

Amazing album! I'm jealous of it... Nobody can touch this album... 🤘⚡
It wasn't a house party , or it wasn't Friday or Saturday nite Lol. No disco for us Tom petty was Cooking then Get the nod for the drive to school REM. Prine. Jackson Browne b 52 s. Even listened to Cohen. And reggae They got some air time. But when the chips were down .....
I agree 100%, this is my favorite song from my favorite AC/DC album. Don’t get me wrong, I love highway to hell, but like you said it sounds polished, and the band lost raw garage band sound that it had in its early albums. Bon Scott reached his peak in song writing with this album.
Great text my friend, power age is number 1 for me too,
His voice is on fire!
Let the kids. listen, this. is. Gold
Took me about 20 years to really appreciate this song.
Sorry u missed out. Powerage is one of the greatest rock albums. Period. Kicked in the teeth again. Is one of my favorites
what took you so long?
Almost 4 years to me. And now it is my favourite AC DC song.
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap too
@@CarlosDiaz-ye6yr Yep. Ain't no fun... is a great track in particular. That is my favourite sleeve design too.
This version is the best, in my humble opinion. Ain't no band ever better at the heavy blues boogie .
R.I.P. BON SCOTT, MALCOLM YOUNG AND GEORGE YOUNG.
Powerade, highway to hell, and back in black best albums ever
What a great song this is. Genuinely one of my favorites from the Bon era
"WHAT A VOICE" RAZOR BLADE BALLS BABY! GREAT BAND! THE PERFECT 🔫 SONG!!
Heavy Metal evaporates in the presence of this music because it has SOUL!!
Rock & Roll. learn it, live it, understand it.......
Indeed! Well said.
I'm living it! It's fantastic!
First of all you have to understand it 🤘
Mike Walsh Yep. Get a guitar and try to play along. What a blast
The "Lads" never sounded better!! From their beginnings to present, they "are" Rock n Roll!!!
And brian is - for sure - the much better human being...
love the clip with all the girls down the front at the gig...happy days...
If i listen to this song i will feel better because the rhythm is astonishing.
In the late 70's and early 80's, Me and my buddy Pete Keeler hitch hiked from ACDC concert to ACDC concert. was a blast
Best version of the Angus solo I’ve heard the man’s a freak
Rip Mal, we love you. AcDc is the best band. Let there be rock
Love listening to these, just hearing those guitars together... damn.
Those guitars were played by two genius.
Jailbreak _79 absolutely Love that big white falcon Yeah. I pretty much gotta have 2 guitars Rythym and lead Three piece bands seem wanting I gotta have it. And the SG ? Rocks premier lead guitar Didn't miss a step these guys. I can't play 5 min on my guitar without hearing these guys. Just gold those brothers Missem
That lick is the great missing chuck berry lick....it’s hypnotic
Чарез два года его не станет. Он нас осиротил. Но.... приемный папаша оказался неплох. Я бы сказал, что очень неплох. Да, что там, Брайан просто великолепен. ACDC навсегда!!!!
The way the lead works with the rhythm and the bass. And the drums. What can I say. Just a great great song.
The doctor gives me a prescription of listening to AC/DC every day... 🤘
Better than any drugs!
@@skichi5421 of course! Enjoy! 🤘
Good doctor !
@@topsecret2389 He was Bon Scott .
Rest in peace Malcom and Bonn! Never forgotten.
Malcolm’s rhythm playing here is pure perfection.
the only man who could drink a fith of whiskey and never fall down,he just kept rocking.
Uh wrong. He died of alcohol remember....
@@mikerichmond9086 He would drink a lot more than a 5 th
It is impossible to find a band better than this line up... 🤘
Agreed. Have you ever listened to the early Rose Tattoo stuff?
Especially the high part of the second solo where Malcolm does that amazing groovy boogie is to me the best two guitar interaction ever.
Damn that sounds awesome!
The BEST live version of this song right here!!
I was there!!! At that concert!!!
Was this concert at a smaller arena? I saw them in 78 or 79 at a place called the Tennessee theater, I was only 15 but I remember it was a great show, maybe 500 people and I never got carded when buying beer, thought I was almost an adult, after the show dudes car had starter trouble and metro police tried to jump start our bomb and since it needed a starter they hauled our underage public drunks to jail. good times.
Without BON, AC/DC the train of good lyrics gets lost .
Thank you Bon and ……...BON appetite !
If someone were to ask me what straight up rock n roll is, I’d show them this album. Unfiltered, uncleaned, soulful, and gritty rock n roll. Just the way it should be.
It is simply wild!
To angus and the boys You guys f in rock all the haters can say what they want but at the end of the day AC/DC still jams and will always jam
Bon Scott the man with the only voice ,ever, where you can "hear" the glimpse in the eye.
The best bro combo to this day ! Ever!
Bon you are missed dearly, but you will never be forgotten.
He will be remembered by us! His soul lives ⚡
I want Bon and the boys to rock at my wedding. I've had dreams. R.I.P.
the G.O.A.T. of rythm riffs. RIP Malcolm.
Everybody should bow to the man named bon Scott enough said, and I am a ac/dc freak enough said
If you’re a true AC/DC fan. You know POWERAGE is the best album
I am happy to see so many people saying Powerage is their best album
my worthless opinion? the album this is from is AC/DC's best ever! Bon Scott rules!
Bon's law ⚡
AMEN TO THAT!!!
GodDAMN, this sounds AMAZING. Even better than the studio version!
These mates are the Rembrants & Leonardo DaVincis of the rock world!!
I've always considered Gone Shootin' a slow burner. The initial guitar lick gets your head bopping to the beat. By the time the chorus hits, your feet are tapping along. By the time Angus's solo hits, your environment immediately becomes endangered.
I love listening this masterpiece! It is heavenly... ⚡
Best version of gone shooting!
Best rhythm guitar ever. Those guys were great.
Bon's stage presence and voice will never be equalled.....like all legends he truly was a one off....👍👍👍👍👍👍
Rest in peace, Malcolm, Bon.
