I came upon a free pair of these exact Nikes in white on my way back from work tonight, and took them home thinking they were perfect as a custom paint project. I didn't kno these were a standard in the custom shoe art world, I just looked up acrylic painting Nikes and found this video. I looked at the shoes and confirmed they're indeed Nike Air Force 1's, exact hahaha. Thanks so much for this! A worth-it freecycle for upcycle before they went to a landfill 👍

Just make sure to prep the surface before applying the paint. This will remove the factory finish allowing the paint to properly adhere to the surface. If painting on leather, there are no additives needed to be mixed.
I'm about to tackle my Prada Americas cup trainers. Got them cheap at an outlet as they were the silver coloured ones. Going to strip the silver and apply the navy blue dye. If they come out half as good as the finish on his, I'll be a happy bunny.

If you are using our Angelus acrylic paint then sealing the paint with a finisher is optional. Using the finisher will help protect against minor scratches and scrapes. The key is to prep the leather first by using our Leather Preparer and Deglazer or Acetone. This will remove the factory finisher which will allow the paint to adhere to the leather. Using the finisher is completely optional. The paints contain finisher and will last as long as the surface is prepped first. Along with adding some extra protection, the finisher will provide a sheen to the project. So it's completely your preference. Why do we see two togethe different pairs of shoes. There is one with the ankle panels black and a white swoosh, the other is black panels and a white swoosh?
I got a couple questions. I know you're supposed to do 2-3 light coats for the base...but for the little black lines (design) does that have to be repeated 2-3 times as well? Is a finisher necessary on all the parts you paint? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just got a pair of kicks, and a set of Angelus Paints.
With time and experience you'll see that some colors will require more coats then others. Our black is very pigmented and should only take one coat for the detailed design work but there may be areas that need touch ups. Finisher is optional. Finisher may help to protect against minor scratches and scrapes but is generally used to give the project a type of shine. Have fun and let us know if you have any more questions.
