@@tcgbuyerscluband yet you didn't even really mention buying at the bottom in a video on how to avoid losing money... Instead you say sell during the hype. Buying at the bottom and when things aren't hyped up is 10,000 times more important then selling during the hype.
@thex-pupps1583 yeah, my theory, and what I say in the video, is to buy during the stability period of the Collectibles Hype Cycle. During this phase of the cycle prices are relatively low. Timing is important and buying at the bottom is ideal, but we’ll only ever know the bottom in hindsight. I think we have a better chance of looking for those boring stability periods as a proxy for finding the bottom. And, if you were buying over the last couple years, especially as reprints hit, you probably found the bottom. Thanks for watching!
I recently ran a poll on my channel and 50% of people voted to bring back the Amazing Rares over Gold Stars, Shining, and Legends. You fell for the hype and we're all guilty of it at some point but I think the Amazing Rares might actually pay off one day.
I went in on them because I loved them! I thought they struck such a nice balance of modern card details, with art bursting from the frame and incredible textures, while still carrying enough of the core card design from my childhood to be nostalgic. I’m glad others feel the same and I have no plans to sell them 😊 Thanks for watching as always bud!! 🙏
@ I’m a fan of DCA and use it as part of my investment strategy with other investments. With Pokemon I tend to try to time it with larger purchases when I think I’ve found the market bottom. I obviously screwed it up this time and maybe could look at a DCA strategy here too 😅
Ahaha, thanks for watching 😊 It’s all part of the process and my mistakes helped me learn what I needed to make a lot less mistakes in the years that followed 💪
Thanks for the support Roc! I didn’t even mention the PSA 9 Evolutions Charizard I bought for like $500 too 😂 When the prices keep going up like that it’s so easy to get spooked and decide to buy something you probably shouldn’t 😅
Getting hosed isn’t fun, I’ve been there 😅 I think the master ball reverse cards are really rare as far as set cards go so they should be more stable than the SAR cards. No one knows what will happen over the long term but I feel better about the master balls! Thanks for watching 🙏
These cards look like bulk now, but when they were released they were a very exciting new card style that had a lot of hype and high prices. Anyway, thank for watching!! 😊
Hey dumb Grey, I appreciate you preaching fiscal responsibility and a healthy way to enjoy the hobby without dumping money into a hype train. I'll sub!
Hindsight is 20/20. Back then, modern sealed was worth absolutely nothing. You could easily find boxes for below $80 and demand for modern was extremely low minus a few periods of mania with sets like darkness ablaze and vivid voltage. Everyone was focused on vintage singles and sealed with an incredible amount of demand to back it up.
Glad I found your channel great video. I think your cards will age like fine wine. I’m glad my daughter got me back into Pokémon I love collecting. It’s insane how Pokémon became like stocks though 😂.
I bought it I the hype and got some cool stuff in fact I’m brand new since I was a kid and spent way too much these last two weeks but after a few good pulls in surging sparks and a few bad ones after that I think I’m gonna let that shit cool down because I can’t keep blowing money on it. I decided to get some older sets, but I’m gonna sit on for a good price and see if they go.
Welcome!! There’s certainly nothing wrong with buying and opening packs, but in this kind of market it does get pricey fast and the prices can fall substantially (like my amazing rare cards) if Pokemon reprints the sets in the future. It’s just good to be aware of what happened in the best so you can make the best decisions you can for yourself! 💪
@ yeah I got a few of the twilight masquerade Pokémon Center ETB while they’re still in stock I know that’s an older set but eventually they’ll go out of stock in one day. They might be worth something. I’m definitely not gonna go chase a $200 evolutions one.

Welcome to Pokemon! In terms of the long-term potential of those sets I think 151 is better. It's REALLY difficult to feel bad for these "investors" that are blindly coming into the hobby hoping to make a quick dollar and absolutely wrecks the market and conducts garbage buyouts. Getting what they deserve is what it is.
I’m not a fan of the quick flip investors either! I can assure you, when I bought these cards I didn’t think it would be quick, I just didn’t think it would go that much lower 🥲 I’m hoping to help make more collectors and investors take a long term perspective so they can enjoy Pokemon for years to come! Thanks for watching 😊
Wise decisions should always be made when investing and never ever buy in a boom or a up rise unless you want significant risk. And too many eggs in the 1 basket is a no no.Leave room for product to fail and regain the profit from elsewhere.
Unfortunately, not yet! Even a PSA 10 of that amazing rare Rayquaza, which has been the most expensive of the set, sells for about $28 USD. Less the grading fees and selling and shipping fees that’s still a loss. And a PSA 9 would definitely be a loss 😭 It’s ok: I’ll keep holding these and maybe one day another 5-10 years out, these cards might be come valuable again 😅 Thanks for watching!!
