Very apt advice, I have a 2008 van and the immersion heater failed, worked out why as well, the previous owner had replaced it, lost one of the little nuts that hold on the thermostat, and never added conductive paste. So it was barely in contact with the side of the tank, and obviously overheated until it failed, no wonder the hot water control never seemed to work. Anyway, I removed the circuit board and all the cardboard 'insulation' around the boiler, and used a long screwdriver to check whether they had lost the little nut during the last installation, and bonus, it was still under there and I fished it out. In terms of conductive paste, use the stuff available for PCs when fitting a heatsink/fan to a CPU, it's a lot cheaper off eBay.
Thank you that was a bit silly of the previous owner to just fit it with only one nut, 99% of the time I think they are lost under the tank I did find some 5.5mm nuts on amazon and left the link in the description just in case someone wasn't as lucky as you. That is what I used conductive paste for pcs does the job👍
Thank you, hopefully we are breaking it up a bit staying at one campsite for 4 nights in weymouth then moving on to pool for 3 nights, couldn’t be with out the awning if I am honest with you makes a big difference.
Hi Lee well done I see you used my tip. Just a quick one for you the temperature is preset on the element you can’t adjust it. The dial to the left of the switch is gas only. This only sets the temp when heating with gas. Thanks for the mention Paul Tow Fix
Thanks Paul I didn’t realise that about the heater dial I thought it was for both lol thanks for letting me know, your tip came in very handy I think I would of lost a few nuts other wise 😂
Thanks Ian had to get it done we are going away next weekend for 7 nights going to be splitting it into 2 videos as we are staying at two different places
Well done Lee on video content. Very well presented and easy to follow. 👏👏👍
Thank you very much 😊
