- A Russian agent sent to tail opposition leader Alexey Navalny has revealed how he was poisoned in August -- with the lethal nerve agent Novichok planted in his underpants.
The stunning disclosure from an agent who belonged to an elite toxins team in Russia's FSB security service came in a lengthy phone call following the unmasking of the unit by CNN and the online investigative outfit Bellingcat last week.
In what he was told was a debriefing, Konstantin Kudryavtsev also talked about others involved in the poisoning in the Siberian city of Tomsk, and how he was sent to clean things up.
But the agent was not speaking to an official in Russia's National Security Council as he thought. He was talking to Navalny himself, who almost died after being poisoned in August.
Navalny has long been a thorn in the side of President Vladimir Putin, exposing corruption in high places and campaigning against the ruling United Russia party.

mixed in makes for gob smacking watching, way better than anyone in movie making could come up with, though, I suppose not being an American my perspective as an onlooker probably helps. I should imagine having that going on on a day to day living reality would not be so great.

But if I were living in another country, I would feel exactly like you do. I really do wonder what the international community is thinking/saying. So big that when he tried running for president, he was not only banned by Putin from being able to run for president. But they also fabricated charges to have him unlawfully jailed. They held his court hearing in a police station without a proper summons.... no he’s banned from being president and was poisoned ontop of this.. there are other political parties in Russia but they’re all puppet parties that Putin allows because he knows they’re no threat to win over him. Then came navalny and a lot of people supported him but then he was banned from running, and well poisoned and jailed. That’s Russian politics for you. The people really supported him. There were servers protest throughout all of Russia. And ontop of this Putin changed the constitution to reset his terms presidential terms served to 0 to her can remain in power for another 16 years. I encourage you to really do research that way you can know the truth.

This story is outrageous, and almost certainly has to be true. But where’s the real proof? The little red threads in the background were a nice touch. They convinced me.

Years later, I recommend watching the documentary. Not 100% convincing it's all real but definitely gives greater background that makes it much more believable
I suppose what I’m missing here is...if this guy is a professional, why is he, over the phone, speaking about how the nerve agent was placed in the underpants, etc? What was his incentive for doing this?
Navalny tricked him by using a software to make his number look like if it's coming from FSB
- he revealed some of confidential info himself that only an FSB agent involved was supposed to know
- he called him very early and woke him up
- he presented him self as a real high ranked officer's assistant
- Kudryavcev hesitated on several occasions, but Navalny used officer's name to cover the order to use the ordinary phone line
- Kudryavcev is a chemist, he has no idea how to properly work "in the field"
