    hello, everyone!
    i'm back with another thg video :D i'm also planning to make a pt 2 for both catching fire and mockingjay since i had to cut them into separate videos because of how many deleted scenes the first movie had (also because of copyright rip)
    this is all based on my own opinion and from what i could gather from different sites. if i missed anything, feel free to mention or drop them below in the comments!
    have a wonderful day / night!

    Caesar honestly was such an interesting and compelling character. Even towards the end you never find out what he exactly feels. Yes he interviewed Peeta during the rebellion but he does seem concerned and does kinda try to feed Peeta answers that Snow would approve of. In the books during hunger games and catching fire Katniss points out that Caesar is always nice to all the tributes and does his best to showcase their best traits to be appealing to the capital and thus sponsors. He could still be supportive of the capital but i still think he's really interesting, especially since the prequel trailers show that his dad or grandpa was the first host of the hunger games, so he grew up in that situation.

    The end royally pissed me off considering how crazy it was in the book. They made the tributes into these Werewolf creatures… didn’t happen. They were weird big dogs. The gash on Catos’ head was done by Thresh who nearly killed him, but instead he gets offscreened. Katniss went crazy when she realized the werewolves were the dead tributes as one had all gold hair, another all red, and the little one, well, they were Glimmer, Foxface, and Rue. They should have kept the bread scene from district 11. No other tribute had received a gift from another district, and its commented that gifts in the arena are very expensive. For Katniss to receive a gift from a district that wasn't her own, especially one of the poorer districts, was a big moment. Also, in the books, bread is a reoccurring theme (not just with Peeta), and I think the movies robbed us of a lot of that.

    Interesting how during Rue’s interview, when she says she’s 12 and Katniss is clearly disturbed because she’s thinking of Prim, Peeta looks at Katniss probably concerned for her. Another detail of how much Peeta cares for her

      Hey, they had no idea what kind of weaponry, if any, would be provided in the Games. Really, the possibilities were endless. In any case, it was all horrific when we consider the "players" and the "game" itself.

    • @downwindfish1
      @downwindfish1 2 года назад +11

      @@LauraS1 but if you think about it, not only would guns be really boring for the people in the capitol watching, a gun doesn't fit in with all the other weapons used in either movie or in previous games we know about, AND a gun would be way overpowered for anyone who had one

    • @Luke_05
      @Luke_05 2 года назад +8

      @@downwindfish1 yeah I agree with you totally. I’m pretty sure none of the games have ever had a gun in them. it makes sense too, as they’d be far too overpowered and it’d ruin the “watch” for the capitol citizens as all the tributes would be dead pretty quickly

    These scenes not being added irritates me so much. I've read the books and seen clips from the movies but I've noticed that people who've only watched the movies tend to hate katniss and gale a lot more than they would if they read the books. So many of these scenes are important moments that add to the story.

    While the interviews themselves don't add much, I think the backstage parts where they're waiting in line add a lot to the whole absurdity of the process. That stuff could have been salvaged by clever montage edits.

  • @hollykidson
    @hollykidson 7 месяцев назад +9

    I think they did a great job with editing, but that scene where she sees the impact of her alliance with Rue - getting bread from the people of 11 - that was powerful and short. I would have left that in.

      I have a deep feeling that maybe Rue's crush wasn't a boy and that's why she couldn't tell Katniss on camera who that special girl crush she had was because she was afraid she'd be judged by the audience for being a Lesbian.... Add to the fact that Amandla likes girls in real life and my theory makes a lot of sense. 🤔

    The scene with all the tributes in line dressed up and with the make up on i think it was a magnificent way of represent a part of the Games that is cruel and no one talks about as much. They were dehumanizing. Not because the Capitol saw people from the districts as inferiors, but because they were a show. Their pain was a show for all Panem to look and laugh at.
    They dressed up starving opressed childrens and present them on a show to make an even more "fun" circus.

    I wish they’d kept rues interview. As soon as I saw her on screen I said out loud to my cousin “if she dies I will scream”
    When she teamed up with Katniss I was thinking “maybe she will survive” but when she was shit by the arrow, I did, literally scream. Of course I was told to shut up but I mean, I kept my promise. Sucks cuz you know she could have survived. She was shot in the abdomen, Kat is could have patched it up, applied pressure to the wound or ANYTHING. not to mention, the plot armour in this movie is insane, I mean Katniss got shot, set on fire, chocked almost to death, burned by poisonous fog, attacked by killer baboons, stung by killer wasps, fell from giant heights, whipped in the face, thrown off a giant spinning rock at a very fast rate into water, electrocuted.
    But she’s still here? Like- HELLO? WHY COULDNT RUE HAVE LIVED?

    I see a lot of people in here thinking we’ve see the entirety of these scenes and even others mentioned.. I honestly think some of it could be from us reading the books too though. After reading the books and rewatching the movies, after I read them again I could see the faces and hear the voices. Sometimes reading or dreaming a scene happened can make it seem like you actually saw it and I think that’s a super cool thing our brain does!!!
