Such an underrated channel. Very knowledgeable and gets in great detail on even the materials and potential issues
Thanks jimmy! I appreciate that bud!
Great video, let's keep support for the SRT-4 up!
I'm with you! It awesome to see there is still support for our cars today!
This mechanic explains the entire process so well that I felt confident replacing the bushings on the gear shift mechanism in my 2008 chrysler pt cruiser.
Thank you Faith! glad to hear it helped!
I actually just got my DCR bushings in yesterday and they have since gone to a newer design. The new design consists of a billet aluminum bushing with a slick nylon washer on each side.
Nice! That's interesting, so same design but center is aluminum? Those things will last forever!
@@AlexAutoFun That's correct, when I received them someone had written "New 2019 Design" on the vacuum sealed bag. I noticed their packing is all vacuum sealed bags which is much nicer than before. The one thing I really like about DCR is they are always finding ways to improve their products.
Same here I'm upgrading my boogers to the dcrs and have the new design seems itll be much stronger 😎
I love your videos man. You and your wife absolutely rock with providing clear and accurate information. It's also appreciated to hear your own inputs and evaluations. Super thumbs up man! Please make more srt-4 content. It's the best on youtube, and you're doing the community a service.
Hi Roobs! Thanks man that means a lot! I will keep those videos coming, the SRT4 is such a fun car, stay tuned and thanks for watching bud!
Nice in-depth video! I've always used the booger bushings since my gen1 neon. I did have an issue with them desinigrating once in my srt4 after a few years so they do wear out over time. Maybe next time I will get some DCR ones.
Ps. I have an extra set of DCR pro street axles if you're interested in buying.
Look forward to more srt4 videos!
Great video! This vid inspired me, so I 3d printed some nylon bushings as I was unhappy with current offerings. Just using hairpin clip to hold the bushing to the shaft. It's held up great so far with my maddog shifter. Feels great!
WOW! that is awesome ZPBeats I didn't even think about that, great idea buddy!
Zpbeats, do you do custom 3d printed stuff for people?

Great vid! Thank you for the tutorial, also wondering about the dcr trans that you bought, how does it ride?
Thanks Jimmy appreciate that! Yes it went in without a hitch and I'm working on that video, should be coming soon, it's definitely not cheap so expectations are high!
Outstanding.
Thank you Nicholas appreciate it buddy!
I find putting it in neutral and moving side to side in the gates gives the best result.
Hi a Todaso, thanks for the tip! Will definitely give that a try that next time I'm in this area again!
Love the videos man. Where you located? You are an amazing youtuber for srt4s
Thanks bud! I'm in Cali, been in the SRT4 community for a long time now, its so awesome to see how much interest this cars have still!
Hey man if you want look me up on facebook and add me. I've owned 5 now and just purchased my stage 3 from my buddy in jersey and had it delivered to fort Carson in Colorado. facebook.com/brad.osborn.946
Very nicely done video! I just subscribed to your channel :) I don't have an SRT4 but I have a 07 PT Cruiser GT with a 5 speed....so alot of things for the Neon apply to my car. I just installed some Booger bushings...I'm curious, which one popped off? Now you have me concerned about them coming off, lol
Thanks for sub AR Drummer! That's so true about the GT sharing components with the SRT4 (in fact I think the GT came first and SRT borrowed parts for the SRT4) Regarding the bushing, I had one pop out on the tranny side and I also had one disintegrate on the shifter side, both almost left me stranded!1
I may need to keep a spare set in my car and some tools just in case it happens to me :( The shifting is much firmer though!
Ok I'm interested, I've lost a booger before and I can see them rising out on the transmission.
That's exactly what happened to me! Just worked it's way out over time, fortunately I was close to home..
Pop!
Always another great video...now shave that stash man
Haha! thanks Eric! yeah the stash is actually way bigger and longer now, going for the old school Gentleman look, thanks for watching bud!
Ok so to adjust the shifter cable put it in therd gear and tighten it way still in gear ?
Hi Dig Ordie! Yes that is correct I tighten the bolt while still in gear..
Nice vid just an update for new owners about to do this if u remove the shift knob u don't have to remove the boot if u remove the boot u can leave under the shift knob and still remove ur console without removing the knob and u didn't install the dcr on the shifter lol
Hi Mr. Me! glad you mentioned that, I normally don't remove the shifter ball or boot when removing the console, it made it easier to film by removing it but can totally be done without doing so. This video is made up of other videos I shot at different times which is also why the shifter bushings were Booger (that was shot earlier) after I went to DCR on all 4 of them, I haven't had any issues so I think they are slightly better than the Boogers one which popped on me once or twice. I did hear that DCR updated them since and now makes them of aluminum now but really like the previous material, it be neat if they offered both options..
@@AlexAutoFun nice totally understand that keep up the great content and continue to mod an srt4 we appreciate it 😎🍻
@@mrme9517 Thank you Mr.Me! working on more content right now, stay tuned bud! 🍻

LOL good catch!
My booger bushings (circa 2005) came with c-clips. Not sure why they stopped offering them.
Woah that's interesting, didn't know that, I imagine cost was a reason for not including clips anymore but I'm sure most of us would have paid just a little extra for that extra piece of mind, thanks for sharing that info njshift!
I'll stick with Modern Performance booger bushings, my 99 neon R/T been on the same ones for 10yrs and my SRT4 been on them for 6yrs
Hi Michael Martinez, yeah it think they go back so far they are very proven, and while I had an issue or two with them, I'm sure there are plenty others going strong, let see how long this DCR ones last, thanks for watching buddy!
I've had atleast 5 seta from modern and its hit or miss with theirs. I've had 2 fail in less than a year but 3 that lasted. I actually had an srt4 from the showroom and sold it after 9 years to a buddy who still owns it and he still has the mp boogers that I installed. The dcr new design is a game changer. I actually made a little retaining clip for my last srt4 that held them in really really right so they didnt slip at all.

I just installed a clutch in my 2004 srt4 but it doesn't go into gear when the car is turned on. If you see this, would you recommend installing these bushings?
Hi Senpai 420, I would double check that the cables are connected, sometimes the old bushings break. Remember to check both the bushings above the transmission and the ones below the shifter inside the car, let us know what you find bud!
Why you adjust the cable on 3rd gear?
Hi David, the service manual calls for the cable to be adjusted in 3rd or 4th gear. I had better results with 3rd. Now there are some guys out there who will also adjust it by wiggling it on neutral, It's really depending on the car I think and some personal preference.
Hi men I just buy srt 4 have 3 gear problem so I read a lot and people said just buy the gear extender and shift selector and it will fix you 3 gear problem I wonder if that is true. Also mi 3 gear won't engage at all it just grind. Also I buy the dcr bushings will this help ?
Hi Jose, I would start by eliminating the basics, bushings and adjusting the shifter cable and adjusting the clutch disengagement point (clutch pivot rod), The 3rd gear gear extender is a little more work so I would do that last, hopefully you'll figure it out bud!
Thanks men
Cluch pivot rod already done
I have know the bushing and gear extender and the gear selector I have to try the shifter cable
awesome video. will this work for the sxt?
Thanks Dylan! it should work on all manual Dodge Neons from 1995 to 2005. If you end up getting them let us know how your install went!
