Tip #5, roller cleaning, is SOLID GOLD!
I agree 100%.
You can also wrap your rollers in plastic if you're just stopping for the day or three.
Thank you for all of these tips. I no longer do much painting, but when I was (I was the back-up painter for our contracting business) the roller paint extractor would have been worth its weight in gold!
To get the perfect line, (cut it by hand,) or caulk the edge of your tape line masking with clear caulk, then paint it wet, and pull the tape very soon after. The only way to get ultra crispy lines unless you have a very smooth surface and very good tape that won't bleed...
In your small paint plastic holder . Cut a slot in a Gallon ziplock bag then the slot thru the handl and the bag into the holder. Easy fast clean up for multi paint jobs
Thanks!
They made a spin tool for that same tip for years! It's a great way to clean a roller!
Another tip: Take the paint-laden roller and wrap it in a damp cloth, place in refrigerator overnight.
The roller will be ready to paint with again the next day.
I've been able to do this 4 days in a row without any trouble.
I used this method while back-rolling heavy textured stucco.
In the refrigerator or freezer??
@@TomMcDonaldatYahooDotCom I use the same method use the fridge, i cover it with a plastic grocery bag and tie mine though money saver
Note to self: buy Pringles, let grandsons eat, keep the can for Nana!
The Pringles trick is the best
Pringles can is the best tip. Thanks
With not much experience in painting, these are especially great tips. Never thought about cleaning new paint rollers but that's a great idea. Thank you 😊
I wish that I watched this 2 weeks ago. TY 👍
I love that method for cleaning a quality roller.
Between coats, we'll put our rollers in plastic bags. My mother used to stick them in the fridge, but, I skipped that part.
Dollar store is a great place to get some cheap supplies, although I tend to do with more expensive rollers, brushes, and tape if it's something that matters.
Great tips!!
Environment friendly paint clean up method:
Dump the left over paint from the tray back into the can using your brush to remove most of it. The use a 5 in 1 paint tool to scrape the paint out of the roller into the paint tray, dump that into your can. Once you get as much paint out of the roller and the paint tray as possible with the brush, wipe the brush on the top of the can to get as much paint out as possible. Then add a little water to the paint tray and dip and work your brush in it to get the paint loosened up and paint that out on either cardboard or the brown paper you may have used to mask trim. Then do that several times with the roller. Be as thoroughas you like. The rest clean at the hose so paint is less likely to make it into the processed water cycle.
Slide your roller half way down the cage and point it away from your body. Using the jet stream of the hose spray across the top of the roller from the side and it will begin to spin the excess paint out of the cover. Get the whole cover wet and then spray across the top to spin it and fling the paint water out. Repeat until the water coming off is clear. Once clean concentrate the stream at the close end and let it spin for 10 seconds before cutting off the water. It will be fluffy and slightly damp.
I wrap the roller/brush in plastic film then put them in the freezer, lasts months if you are doing a whole house with ceiling white etc. or like me can only get back to it every couple of weeks, never goes off. Let it thaw and presto no wastage. The freezer is also good for the filler, silastic cartridges and any type of glue. Slows the evaporation and chemical reaction to almost zero.
Also instead of buying liners for my paint tray I just place the tray in a plastic shopping bag and tape it so it doesn't move. Just throw away the bag when done.
Excellent
I like it!
Tennis ball cans do the same as the Pringles can with no oil cleanup needed.
I use a coffee container that has a handle to carry the paint around. Free is good.
Put paint brushes and rollers in zip lock bags when stopping for the night. Ready to go next day.
Great tips! When will your t-shirt "I have enough power tools" be back in stock?
Just an FYI, the sponsor links in the description aren't clickable URLS.
Sorry about that, it’s fixed now. Thanks for the heads up!
NOTE: You can Save Your Wrist a Lot of Stress by Using even a
Short Extension Handle when Using a Roller; rather Just Using
the Roller Handle ( More Leverage )🌿
Dude I could've used this 3 weeks ago...painted 4 rooms. Better late than never 😂
I'm glad I watched this. I'm out of potato chips.
