      He doesn't lead the team year after year in all 3 main categories while drawing all the attention from the other teams defense. That's why. I love JB and I think he's awesome but if you take Tatum off the court and JB got all the double and Triple teams he wouldn't be as effective.

    you guys think Luka is god with no defense....stop it..... Tatum just need to be more efficient with his shot's if that happens Tatum is as good a MVP candidate as anyone of those guy's

Jayson is a topflight defender and one of the only players to really lock down KD "the most unstoppable 1 v 1 players in the league". IDK what they want outside of hard fouls and trash talking when they say tenacious defense.

      I’m not 100% certain on that. They barely passed Butler and Bam the year prior even before game 7. Giannis and Lillard, George and Embiid will be just as good.

Health will be the main factor but they got a squad that can take on anyone. Can’t stand it but it’s the truth 😂

    No one feared LeBron defensively. He’s not in the same class as Kobe or Jordan on that end. And for Chris to say that’s one of the areas he needs to improve to elevate himself is laughable because he constantly hugs Luka’s 🥜 and he is literally a cone.

Yes he had mad chase down blocks and he played the passing lanes well, but no one shied away from him in the half court because he never moved laterally very well. And that 1-5 narrative is false. If he had been asked to guard any legit center he would’ve been toast.

I’m saying he’s not feared defensively and never has been. Steve Smith said teams would flip plays to avoid MJ’s side because he was so disruptive. There’s a difference.

    U guys hands people MVP that cant play spell defense and want to poke holes in this youngmen game(JT) that has evolve to a complete basketball player that plays both end of the court. U got people like Brunson in front JT, Brunson is dam near a liability on D. This is not the Nfl where u only have to play one side of ball. So why do JT has to be a better defender, when the award is being handed to people that literally a liability D.

    People really dont watch tatum play Defense. Outside of luka (which is a hard matchup for him) he is a great defender. I do mean great. Real celtics fans know this & they know JB's defensive reputation (up until this past season) FAR exceeded the reality while JT's reputation SEVERELY underplayed his value.
    I am not pitting JT vs JB, im simply saying that if you watch every celtics game since theyve played in the NBA, you know im right.

      People really forgetting that Tatum in the engine on that offenses brown and everybody gets the best looks when he's on the court ,he's the play maker he calls the plays ,dude was literally the PG and power forward ,while defensively he guarded 1-5 , people forget Tatum took the KD assignment on 2022 and probably was on of the best times somebody guard KD ,a while being the team leading scorer and hitting game winners to sweep Brooklyn the team that was projected to win it all 🤣 ,they don't appreciate what he's done,even tho this Tatum best 3pt shooting season in a few seasons his shot not the same due to the fact that he put on like 10-15 pounds ,I barely watched Boston all year till the playoffs I was surprised how big he got in the off season and that right there will mess up your shooting,he will adjusting tho

    If you're not in the top 3 for MVP, you're not in the running, you're just watching. Being in the top 6 doesn't mean you're in the running for MVP. If Luka has similar numbers or better and the Mavs win like 55+ games, he has a great chance of winning it.

    Far too many folks are measuring the Celtics and Jayson on this year. A odd year at best and one that's not likely to be repeating in the EAST, next year. Just about every team the Celtics will face next year have improved and what have the Celtics down by comparison. They locked up all their Starting Five but that hardly means they will dominate in the same fashion win wise, next year in the playoffs.

    Jayson Tatum have to jump many hoops that others doesn't it seems people forget that Tatum locked Durant up in the 2022 playoffs, people forget about Tatum in the clutch in 2023 and in the playoffs,Boston is known for blowouts in the regular season, not that many situations he's in he rarely playing the last 6 minutes in the 4th but Tatum gotta be a defensive monster while Luka and joker just have to play one side of the ball?       Did you watch the playoffs or just go by if somebody scored 30 points or more? If your shot is not falling, can you do other things to impact winning? JT was on the glass, racked up assists and his defense especially against the bigs for Dallas was huge.

    Jokic, Giannis, and Embiid are eliminated from MVP talks. They can’t win play much better than they have previously played and the media wont reward them for losing in the playoffs. Luka is the clear front runner followed but Edwards, Gilgeous-Alexander, and the dark horse Morant. Tatum has a chance but the perception of his team and Brown arguably being just as good will hold him back.

    Back to back titles, GET the FMVP, and DON'T choke in the biggest moments. He shot terrible for a lot of the playoffs and finals. He's still a lowkey playoff choker, so you have to prove you can beat the best of the best HEALTHY. No one Boston played was 100%. And spare me Boston fans with the Porzingis stuff. KP is arguably not even a Top3 most impactful Celtic when you look at JT, JB, and Derrick White. Their opponents were getting injuries to probably their MOST impactful players, so it's not the same. Enough with the false equivalency. That's what Tatum needs to prove/do to really be a no doubt superstar in the NBA

      So, what happened in Game 5 to close out the 2024 NBA finals, Jayson Tatum had a 30 point triple double while Jaylen Brown shot 30.4% from the field on 23 field goals (7/23)… Wait, so what happened last year in the 2023 eastern semi-finals when the Celtics and sixers went to game 7 and Jayson Tatum dropped 51 13 5 and 2 steals (the all time record for highest points in a game 7 btw...) while Jaylen brown scored 25 points... What happened then? (BTW, do you even know how the celtics forced that game 7 where JT dropped 51? In game 6, JT started the game missing 14/15 shots (crazy right??) well, he then proceeded to make FOUR 3-pointers in the final 4:14 to force that game 7 where he dropped 51 WHILE the MVP of that same 2023 season dropped a measly 15(!!!!) in that game 7 (ironic huh 51 vs 15 while everybody proclaims one as the MVP lol). Wait, wait, wait, I GOT MORE, what happened when Jayson Tatum was in Milwaukee in 2022 for an elimination game 6, the year after the bucks won the NBA title in 2021, what did Jayson Tatum, do? Oh yeah he dropped a casual 46 points on 17/32 shooting while Brown had 22 points...Man im a jaylen brown fan but yall celtics haters clinging onto this narrative that Jaylen Brown is somehow better than jayson Tatum, is sad and it needs to be studied yall need to touch some grass fr.
      Now respectfully, S T F U. Clown. and you dont know basketball, learn something, watch some NBA games for once in your life. Sick of you casuals. Let the celtics fans that have actually watched EVERY game of JB and JT careers tell you whos better okay?       Because as great as Brown was, the only thing he did better than Tatum was FG%. That’s it. He didn’t even average more points. Tatum led his team in every major statistical category while winning the title. Now his poor shooting held him back from winning the MVP, but there’s no doubt Tatum’s the best player on the championship team.

Why do the Celtics generally perform better as a team when JB goes to the bench vs when JT goes to the bench? The stats don’t lie. JB being “more clutch” doesn’t automatically make him the team’s best player. There’s soo much more to the game than just that.
