The truth is if Brown wants to critize Nike, then he must deal without the consequences of critizing such a powerful entity in his job profession. If the 'logical reason' for choosing Derrick White was that he played with Team USA in recent past Summers, what about the majority of the roster who didn't like Steph, Bron, Embiid etc. Why didn't they choose Jalen Brunson over Steph if that was the case? Because the actual logical reason is that they lost with those players and so they brought in the best of the best in the NBA which Jaylen Brown is. At the time of the initial announcement of the US national team the selection of Kawhi was quite sensible. He wasn't injured and was a top 5 MVP candidate. But since he is cannot play due to injury and if you are replacing a wing star player then the first option should be Jaylen Brown. Some people said that the decision for Derrick White was the fact that the team needs another ball handler. I would disagree with this as Lebron, Haliburton and Jrue will be the PGs/primary ball handlers. Therefore, selecting Derrick White to replace Kawhi does not make sense in my opinion and the explanation that Grant Hill gave wasn't convincing.

After the ECF in 2023, everyone was clowning Jaylen Brown about not being able to go left. Now he's the GOAT. Even if I wanted to replace Kawhi with another wing, Jaylen Brown wouldn't be my top choice. I'm choosing Jimmy Butler over Brown all day, every day.
