Its not like that at all... Its more akin to an employee being upset with their bonus. In this case the executive has a right to be upset. The NBA owns 65% or 70% of the WNBA, that league has taken a major jump this season and as the majority owner you need to make sure you are putting in the resources needed to continue to push the growth. Clark and Reese are leading topics on national outlets a few times a week, they are making about as much per month as the G-league minimum. Go ahead and name the 12th man on the LA Defenders. Exactly. Nobody sitting on the outside can form an opinion here one way or the other besides the players are underpaid.

I'm curious how much cross ownership exists between NBA team ownership and wnba team ownership. That is a factor to be considered. But some larger taxed entitities most likely run subsidiaries at a loss so the parent co pays less in taxes. If wnba severs ties w Daddy Warbucks NBA it folds in under 5 yrs.

Whenever you start a business, you sink money to grow. Now, i doubt they expected to still be running at a loss 30yrs later. Things contributing to continued investment could be hope it eventually becomes profitable and they could sell, wanting to help female athletes out, and stubbornness. It's not really about sound business decisions at this point.

The WNBA has to put more butts in seats, sell merch, get more views, generate ad buys, and continue to have players like Caitlin Clarke, Angel Reese to help attract all of the above to their brand and they will get more salary. TheWNBA is David Sterns legacy, so the NBA has an interest in their success and continue support and compensate them according to market value, hence the lower salaries.

Terry Jackson is Exec Director of the WNBA Players Association. She's wondering how the NBA came up with $2.2 B. Without more info, the number seems arbitrary. As an advocate for the players, why not 2.3 or 2.5 or more? In negotiations, it never hurts to ask.
