    I was really rooting for that poor green X Trayz, we are heading back to the shop to work on reinforced car safe trayz next. 😁

    I use the clear plastic X-Trayz. Perfect for most small components. Lids fit on tight and they stack nicely if needed.
    Thanks for the warning about driving over them with a car. Game boxes don't fair any better.

      - Coins (metal/plastic) to replace the cardboard/paper currency in a game.
      - dice trays
      - plastibands
      Perhaps a list of accessories.

    Hmmm... Then I guess shipping them from US to PH doesn't have that much risk of shipment damage. Would be great if they could come up with a list of games and how many of which xtrayz are needed for those games.

    I usually know what I will be playing on the day so I prep pieces into a fishing tackle tray before going out, that way we can just pass it around, and set it aside to free up tablespace.

    Not sure I see the point of driving your car over one. That just seemed like a waste. I picked up a bunch of these from the BGG Store on clearance, so about a buck a piece, and I’m happy with them. I wish I had more!

    I think my issue with the trays I've seen is they have no weight. They get pushed around too easily.

  • @Medsas
    @Medsas 3 года назад +4

    they're too expensive to use as storage... looked like you use 20 or 30 of them for one game lol thats like another 60$ worth of trays for each game... at that price you can just buy a custom storage tray for the game. I think most people want to use them to store bits during gameplay, in which case you only need a handful of empty ones on hand... and for the latter use case, many alternatives are available such as silicon muffin cups

    • @GloryHounddPresents
      @GloryHounddPresents 3 года назад +2

      They are around $2 and I use them more for the table. I like the scoopability of them compared to baggies and muffin cups but I've used those too.

  • @hendrikrasmus

    As a person who tries to fit all my games in as little boxes as possible(number not size, all hail the big box) my main concern is if they can fit in my box. I am not up for trying it out on a game only to undo the work due to the box overfilling.

    • @BenRangel
      @BenRangel 3 года назад +1

      I usually just use 3-4 trays the fiddliest and most used component types (like coins) and leave the rest (like player tokens) in baggies.

    • @GloryHounddPresents
      @GloryHounddPresents 3 года назад

      Agreed with BenRangel I wouldn't use them for every component but when you can fit multiple things in one it really does save on space and setup time.

      @@GloryHounddPresents You don't have to do any designing. Just about any game you could want an insert for or custom components for already has one designed and shared for free on the various 3D printing sites, such as Thingaverse.

    Being at the bottom of a bag with games on top is a good scenario to test for. Being run over by a car should be considered way beyond reasonable design limits.

      If it would have worked though it would have been epic. They did survive all those heavy games so they definitely put up with more than I expected.

    I don't quite understand the hype around Gametrayz. The plastic is thin and cheap looking. If they were better quality and more enviroment-friendly, they might be an alternative...

    • @JonoNZBoardGamer
      @JonoNZBoardGamer 3 года назад +1

      Just came here to say the same thing! They are fine as inserts to help organise a game in the box, but I would much rather have ceramic or glass ramekins during gameplay as it feels much more premium! And likely cheaper too as most homeware stores have them

    • @GloryHounddPresents
      @GloryHounddPresents 3 года назад +1

      I haven't found a better plastic option yet, without naming competing brands I've tried 5 other ones that were thinner and/or had less space inside but Game Trayz don't work for everyone 😀

      I mix using wooden inserts that both "store&present" with otherwise combining simple bags for storage with regular bowls for presenting/game. So either a "super sturdy and lasting" (admittably more expensive) combined solution or just something where you can easily pour contents back and forth...

    I think they are completely redundant pieces of ugly plastic. I'm surprised so many people use them. Storage : I use zip bags.
    Presentation: Glass or bamboo bowls.
    And by the way, the lounge music during the video was rather annoying to me.
