My first commissioned piece for a local store; make a Cigar Box Purse. Cigar boxes are plentiful in Miami so just makes sense to start making them into purses. Follow along as I use this already beautifully designed box and create a fun and interesting purse with a bonus makeup pouch inside!

Wowza, that is stunning! Those beads are the perfect fit for the handle, and it absolutely looks like something I would have seen my mom or aunts carry way back in the day, probably handmade as well. Gorgeous 🤗

Hi Annie, I love this what you did, you make me laugh
Oh thank you! I just love having fun with my crafting
Wow Annie that is amazing that you had your projects in his store. I’m not surprised you make some really beautiful things. ❤️ what a beautiful idea turning this into a purse. I have a old vintage purse and I love it so much. I use it as decor not as a purse. ❤️
Oh I love that idea! That is so cool!
Wow well you have totally done again Missy that gorgeous I have a bunch of cigar boxes I'll have to give it a try will let you know if I succeed thank you so very much for sharing your talents love and prayers!❤God Bless you!!!❤
Wow yeah try it out - sorry i skipped the part where i made the side flaps that is important to keep all your items n the purse when you oopen it!
Ohh Annie, I love it! The fabric is so pretty and at first I thought it was a Harry Potter inspired material, love it! Love the little makeup bag too. Your so creative!!
Right when I looked at it it reminded me of the haunted Mansion as well. Thank you so much!
This is great! The purse is beautiful. My husband and I are avid cigar smokers and I have tons of boxes. I would love to transform them. The fan design is genius🙌🏽. I would love to see how you created that part.
All I did was use some thin cardboard paper and just fanned covered it with fabric and then I made the fan design and glued it to either side of the purse. I still have some more cigar boxes I should make. Thanks for watching
Beautiful Box .Especially that is from Nicaragua.Hand made in Esteli😍
I love it!
Funny how i already watched this commented and here I am again 😂 what an amazing idea. Mine are not as nice as yours but im sure i can figure this out. I may have to watch pause and repeat. 😂😂😂😂
Hi Dena I hope My video has been helpful and inspiring to you. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment. Have a beautiful blessed weekend
The fantastic video and awesome video thumbs up stay connected. 🦋🦋
Thank you so very much. I appreciate it
Thank you for such a detailed tutorial. It came out lovely can you show us how to do the fan lining?
Yes, unfortunately when I was filming it I forgot to film it. In other words, I forgot to hit record but it is very easy. It's basically a fan. It's you have to just make sure that the fabric has bonding in between so it's stiff but it's very easy just to create a fan in between the two covers
This purse turned out beautifully & I hope it sold quickly at the store!
It's sold with it a week. I have two more purses I need to work on and I think it's sold for over $50
@@IndieAnnieJones1 That’s fantastic! It good to hear that Cauley Square is thriving again. The lady who owned The Christmas Shop there before Hurricane Andrew hit is a family friend.
Thank you for sharing your creativity with us.
Would you be able to make a short video to show us how to do the fan sides?
Unfortunately I forgot to fill myself when I did that but perhaps that's a good idea. Maybe I'll try to make another video making another purse. Thanks again for watching, I'm glad you liked it
That was a very kool project, love how you matched the beads perfectly ❤️
Glad you liked it!! thank you so much!
Nice! Do you have a video on how to make the fanning of the inside lining?
No, sorry I didn't realize I wasn't filming what I was making the inner lining but basically all I did was use some card stock and covered it in the fabric. The hard part was putting it into the cigar box but it worked out. Thanks for watching
Awesome!! What did you use for the purse feet ? Do you have a recommendation on what to use to seal the paper labels that are an authentic part of the cigar boxes ?
Thank you for sharing
For the purse feat, I actually found upholstery tax and what I do is I added a little bit of crazy glue when I tack them into the wood. As far as preserving the labels, I would actually use a clear spray sealant and make sure that it's gloss if you want it glossy or matte. I'm so glad you liked it and that you're inspired to make one of your own
Hi there, all I used was upholstery tax and what I did was add a little bit of crazy glue to make sure they stayed in place and for maintaining or preserving the labels. I would just use a clear spray sealant. Good luck to you
Can you show how you made the fan fabric for the inside or provide a link where you saw how to do that?
Yeah I'm sorry about that. It was really difficult getting that to work. What I did was I took some interfacing and place that inside the fabric and then I found it. In other words, I pleaded it and put it into the purse itself. It was very hard to film without somebody handling the camera and unfortunately I didn't have anyone to help me that day. I'll try to make another one
@@IndieAnnieJones1 That would be great! I haven’t a clue on how to do that!
Hi do u have a video showing how u did the fan on the sides of the cigar purse?
I am so sorry but I forgot to film that segment. All I did was cover some card stock with fabric and made the fanning
@@IndieAnnieJones1 after I cover the card stock paper do I just glue each of the ends and then finish putting the rest of the fabric inside?
@@ulyssajones5877 yes!
If you were gonna decorate the outside would there be a way to add pockets to the outside I wanna try making one into a small back pack
I also work with a lot of leather and wanted to figure a way of using small nails to tack on a pocket or even screws but wanted opinion of others
I never thought of putting a pocket on the outside of a bag like that. I think it would be kind of hard. I mean yes, you can use nails or staples or you know some kind of glue but it would take away from the beauty of the actual cigar box, but I'm sure there's some way to do it. Thanks for watching
Antw way you show how you made the side fans
Oh I'm so sorry I didn't film that but I just made the side fans out of fabric
How did you finish the backside that’s unfinished wood?
Oh I finished it with a glaze so it looked like the front side
Hey I’m trying to make one my self but I can’t find that type of handles. Does anyone know where I can find one?
I actually made my own handle. I used heavy gauge wire and wood beads that I matched to the design of the cigar box. You should also check out Amazon. They might have purse handles of different types. Good luck and thanks for watching and commenting
