I did mine yesterday followed ur video the last time I did it I didn’t align the gasket tabs right smh lol I ripped the first three seals for the spark plug seals trying to get them on then I greased them and went in easy 👍
JSeriesRacing awesome, I’m glad you somehow managed to find my video useful 😅 I was working on doing a video for the rear valve cover gasket but it ended up turning into a month long project 😭😭😭
A dude somewhere in the comments suggest I do a video on the rear valve cover gasket. I attempted it and was almost successful until I put the valve cover screws back on. I ended up stripping one of the holes and breaking a screw in one of the holes. That then lead to me breaking an EZ Out within the valve cover.. it was a super long process but I eventually fixed it :D @@NikeChecksHtx
Wow, this was the best video walk through I've seen for working on a car. Very thorough. informational, the editing was well done, and you even added possible issues you might run into. Thanks for taking the time and keep them coming.
I've got an '07 TL myself. This video is exactly what I've been searching for. My TL was smoking from exactly same place the oil has been leaking from. Time to get to work! Will share in the FB 3rd Gen group I'm in. 👍❤️
Very helpful. Just got done changing one out. Thank you. Hardest part for me was the rubber rings on the valve cover. Those were a little more work than I expected. All the same your video helped immensely. 10/10
In some of the models, there are rings in the valve cover where the rubber goes for the spark plugs. Meaning u can't just tap it in w a hammer or mallet . Just get them out w a thin large screw driver. Great video ,very informative and rite on the money
I really don't understand why you replaced the front but not the back. Those gaskets dry-out and go bad together. Also, did you replaced the rubber valve cover bolt grommets? They dry rot as well. If not replaced, you may not have enough tension on the new gasket. You can use a seal puller tool to ease removal of the spark plug tubes. Instead of hammering in the new tube seals, applying di-electric (plumber's) grease to the seals and you can push them it.
Great video very thorough and clean!!!! Only question I have is at the end when you put on the valve cover gasket, did you apply any gasket sealer or permatex?
@@Rawrkee thanks for your reply.. Great to hear i can do it without draining the oil. I don't have the equipment to drain in front of my house... Thanks bro
It depends on the generation. The 3rd gen TL has the J35a8 whereas the 4th gen has the J35z6. I assume the 3rd gen will work if your RL is also running the J35a
Jose Flores when you remove the valve cover, apply the sealer to the head where the valve cover sits. So apply it before putting the valve cover back on
It's hard to get the rear spark plugs. You need small arms, if you have bigger arms then it's gonna take awhile to wrench them out. Hour n half to get them out then new ones in.
I don't recall the brand but I just picked up whatever they had at the local auto shop. Be sure to use a gasket sealant too, it'll help prevent any leaks. Good luck!
Actually, there is no need to remove the air intake manifold at all. Plenty of space. The metal wire rail can be stowed to the passenger tire side completely. Much smaller job if only Bank 2 (front end) valve adjument is needed. Not so for Bank 1 (firewall end).
without any guidance, it took me about 2 hours but with guidance, you can def do this in about an hour. You'll have to use a gasketmaker on the valve cover and let it sit for a few minutes before replacing the valve cover.
You are chiseling an aluminum cover gasket with a metal screw driver, you may have been careful not to scratch the cover but as I just found out on my 08 accord the previous owner used a screw driver and knocked the hell out of that part ,
You left out the most important part of this job ... installing the cover and expanding the spark plug tube gaskets around the tubes without pinching them. This is a very common mistake made even by professionals. If the gasket is pinched the tube can partially fill with oil and flood the spark plug.
Think we skip the only one thing that really matter to 100%off the people looking at this video was that 300 inch pounds 130 inch pound 85 inch pound🙈🤷♂️
U can leave the throttle body on the manifold no need to take it off
JSeriesRacing thanks, def much more convenient not having to remove it 😂😂

The videography in this video is top notch. It's shot in a way that is as easy and clear to see as in this video.

I have referenced this video several times anytime I’m replacing that gasket. Thank you for this video
By far the best video on you tube. Its to the point and well explained. Thanks mate i just bought a 2007 tl last night and this gasket is shot.
Sunny Sss ahhh yeah! Glad you found it useful! Don’t forget to add gasket maker to the gasket itself to be safe :D
Great video man. Straight to the point and specific.
Good video bro! I was able to fix my car by following your sequence.
AHh yeah! Don't forget to replace the back one too
Video covered everything I needed, got it done. Thank you💪🏽
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen “Illustration wise”. Great video. That’s a clean engine bay too!
Thanks for the video bro! I’m confident I can do the job after watching this very helpful

Hardly Moving Productions ah man, I didn’t do any of that 😅😅😅 I shall replace the above mentioned when the rear gasket goes bad
Man that clean video bro 👊
GSHeverything _27 hopefully it was useful for you :D

Great video very thorough and clean!!!!
Only question I have is at the end when you put on the valve cover gasket, did you apply any gasket sealer or permatex?
weeks later, I ended up using a gasket sealer and now everything is good :D
this blue gasket... is short lived junk, unlike the OEM.
i have an 06 tl the 5th cyl spark plug gasket was leaking causing an oil leak and misfire this video helps.
Good video. I have a TL and love it.
Great video!! Really helps. Can you make a video on how to replace to rear valve gasket please
I do have the gasket for it, I guess I might as well do that too. Look out for that video :D
Legit video
Arthur Curiel don’t forget to use gasket maker
You rock! Very helpful video!!!! ✌️
Yeah man, good luck!!
Nice VID bro. noob questions but do you have to drain the car oil first before doing this?
I didn't but might as well since your hands are already dirty :D
@@Rawrkee thanks for your reply.. Great to hear i can do it without draining the oil. I don't have the equipment to drain in front of my house... Thanks bro
Great Video man
Can you replace it without taking the engine valve cover off?
Does the jdm Acura rl 3.5L use the same valve gasket as the Acura TL 3.5l ?
It depends on the generation. The 3rd gen TL has the J35a8 whereas the 4th gen has the J35z6. I assume the 3rd gen will work if your RL is also running the J35a
Rawrkee where exactly do you apply gasket sealer? And when? After you set it and bolt it do you just apply it all around the cover? Please help!
Jose Flores when you remove the valve cover, apply the sealer to the head where the valve cover sits. So apply it before putting the valve cover back on
Do you apply the sealer to both sides of the gasket?
10/10 Great job

one question, how do you know how to put all those bolts and plugins back into the right places is my question
Good video
💯
Thank You very much it very helpful
👍👍👍👍👍
Where did you get the gaskets and grommets from?
Try changing your oil more often..
Tooo lateeee, car blew up and sold it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@Rawrkee oh shit really?!?
@@unmaintainedcars5077 Nahhh :P My mom ended up giving it up so no more TL vids.. for now :D
Is it true that the spark plug tube seals are hard to install ?
What is it that you disconnected at 3:41
Good video, I have to do this to my tl type s, any specific kit you used? If not I'll just go oem
I don't recall the brand but I just picked up whatever they had at the local auto shop. Be sure to use a gasket sealant too, it'll help prevent any leaks. Good luck!
Good Job!
Jacob Rose thanks!!! Too bad I messed up the rear one 😂😂😂
I have a 04 TL it jerks around 5-6 rpm I’ve replaced the oil pressure sensor and the vtec solenoid could it be the oil housing ?
Jerks in what way? Like shifting gears? Or just the engine revving?
Good video man .
Did u disconnect the battery
Yes! It’s always safe to disconnect it when you’re planning on doin a big job
What about video Off replace seal On the Back cover

The “coolant thingy” lol 😆
Neat! I would love to pay you to change my valve cover gasket. What state do you live in?
What mileage did this start leaking at for you?
150000
on mine
For me it was about 120000
Where did you get the gasket kit?
How many hours did it take to change it out?
without any guidance, it took me about 2 hours but with guidance, you can def do this in about an hour. You'll have to use a gasketmaker on the valve cover and let it sit for a few minutes before replacing the valve cover.
You in Fl?
diamond Jackson nah man, I’m in NC
Gesshh move to Fl💯 🌴
get the service manual guys...also you can drive the tube seals out...need to replace grommetts or theyre going to leak
Nice

Did that on my honda but I forget to put honda bond around the gasket so it leaks oil, I didn't see u add any sealing either here did u have leaks
