Whether you ever feature them or not on this channel, you owe it to yourself to check out The Mission UK. Mainman Wayne Hussey uses an electric 12 as his main instrument (lots of acoustic 12s, too), and he used it a lot back when he was still with goth legends The Sisters Of Mercy. Seriously, you could do a 10 or 20 minute video just on him and his bands' music. First And Last And Always, Tower Of Strength, Deliverance, Butterfly On A Wheel, Beyond The Pale...just so much 12-string heaven.
Cletus. I wish I could give you three thumbs up. I just delved into Mission UK. I had never heard them before. I flew from ATL to CT for a reunion show with my band this week. I was going to bring my reverend 12 string but it was going to be expensive and my bandmates have tons of guitars (I believe I had 15 guitars to choose from for the gig). After seeing Hussy play, I'm really wishing I brought my 12 though. Thanks so much for the recommendation. Please have a safe and happy week. Mark
Thanks to you, I just placed my order for the Harley Benton RB-612, which will join my old Lyle Hummingbird (1974 vintage - Japanese made) and the Guild F2512E that I bought last year. Mark, I didn't realize that Jonathan Cain from Journey played a 12 string double neck for rhythm behind Neil Schon for most of their Escape album during live shows in 83'. A !2-String Lefty Electric is High my List for Soon. I found a Danelectro, but its in UK. Its all Time and mostly, Money..... but one of these days...., whom sounds like a song..... , damn that D.H.
Some of them jangle, some of them chime. But only the Rickenbacker does both at the same time. BTW, you really need to get a Rickenbacker 6xx/12 of some sort. Personally, I think you would look a lot more like a Rock star with a 6xx/12 strapped on to you a la Mike Campbell. Cheers from the Land Down Under.
Hey KS. I had the 360/12 63 reissue for years and I had to force myself to play it. I love everything about the Reverend Airwave 12...except the color. One of my close friends just bought a 660/12 with the vintage pickups. I'll probably borrow it for a few videos. If I want to look like a rock star I just look at pics of myself from 20 years ago. Lol. Thanks so much for checking out the video. Mark
Duesenberg Double Cat 12-String is made of Unobtainium meaning I'd have to donate a kidney to afford one. Rickenbacker 360 12-String is hard to play and just too expensive for what you get. Taylor T5Z 12-String looks nice but has very minimal intonation adjustment with its pinned bridge and acoustic-style saddle. Fender/Squire Paranormal Jazzmaster XII headstock looks like a weird sex toy. Gretsch G5422G-12 Electromatic 12-String is very cool but a bit too large. I'm looking for a minty used Reverend Airwave 12.
I'm not sure if you've seen my other videos but you and I couldn't be more on the same page. I love my reverend airwave. I sold my ric. I don't like the headstock on the fender, and the gretsch is too big for me. I'm a Taylor guy (I currently have 4) but I've never been a fan of the T5Z or any of those guitars that try to ride the fence (acoustasonic). They all end up sounding like cheap ovations. I do appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and to comment. Take care and enjoy the rest of your week. Mark
Jut realised that the Byrds totally ripped off the riff of Tambourine Man (1:06) from the opening riff of the Beatles "What you're doing" (4:22). And used the same guitar. And the haircuts. Covering a Dylan song. How creative.
Can anyone truly "justify" the purchase of a guitar? Of course not! It's like trying to justify owning a hot rod, you cant honestly do it. That said, can you still WANT another guitar? You betcha!
Unfortunately it's not actually his playing on the Rickenbacker, he's stealing audio from Michael Sokil's video here: ruclips.net/video/yLEJ--SIuM4/видео.html
Hey Thomas. I couldn't agree more. I thought people would think I was nuts when I got to #5 and then I met several people that own 10+. I just sent one to my brother and one to a friend so I'm down to 11 currently. LOL. If you have time, shoot me an email and let me know which ones you have at markaranalli@gmail.com. (don't worry, there's no sales pitch at the other end, tabs are free, I don't have any courses to sell, and I don't have a patreon) I have over 100 12-string videos if you're interested. Every kind of countdown you can think of, genres, tips and tuning, performances, interpretations of songs that "should have" used a 12-string. Either way, thanks for checking out this one. If you have a list of your favorite 12-string songs of the 2000s, please email them to me at markaranalli@gmail.com. I would be very grateful as I'd like to feature even more modern 12-string songs. Thanks so much for your time and comment. -Mark
A !2-String Lefty Electric is High my List for Soon. I found a Danelectro, but its in UK. Its all Time and mostly, Money..... but one of these days...., whom sounds like a song..... , damn that D.H.
having 12 strings is the only reason you ever ever play the forbidden ones....
Mark
Isn't the sound from the Hard Day's Night cover from Michael Sokil?
Mark
@@8MinuteAxe - Nicely played demo tunes. Cheers! Kevin
dude, I think there's a 12 string guitar your missing: the eastwood sidejack dlx, a 12 stringer with a jazzmaster whammy bar
Jut realised that the Byrds totally ripped off the riff of Tambourine Man (1:06) from the opening riff of the Beatles "What you're doing" (4:22). And used the same guitar. And the haircuts. Covering a Dylan song. How creative.
🎉🎉🎉🎉
Henley, et al, has a copyright on the B7 arpeggio!
Southern Nights?
Can anyone truly "justify" the purchase of a guitar? Of course not! It's like trying to justify owning a hot rod, you cant honestly do it. That said, can you still WANT another guitar? You betcha!
F___k the blockers! that means you Mr. Henley!
The Rickenbacker sounds best! Everything else is just everything else
Unfortunately it's not actually his playing on the Rickenbacker, he's stealing audio from Michael Sokil's video here: ruclips.net/video/yLEJ--SIuM4/видео.html
92👍
Congrats!
@@8MinuteAxe thank you
Maybe I just need a 12. Hmmm
A Hard Days Night?
got 2 12 strings, how can a player do with one
I appreciate your time and comment. I hope you have a great week. Mark
Did he miss California Girls???
#winaguitar
OK be warned : 12 strings are hard to play and a b*tch to tune especially if you like 'in tune' guitars.
The only good thing actually to come out of the Eagles was Joe Walsh .. Henly is a jerk!!
great demo thanks for sharing
