The Making of DIY Soil

  • Serial butter fingers here 🙋🏻‍♀️
I go back and forth between my diy and pre-mixed bags. Usually larger potted plants are in the DIY mix and smaller potting jobs get the premixed bags.
When I first started getting into plant care, I had no idea different plants had different soil preferences. And while this can be as simple and complicated as you like, I will say 99% of my houseplants are all in a chunkier mix made of organic and inorganic components. I don’t want my mixes to be TOO well-draining because I can’t keep up with frequent waterings, but I also want to make sure it’s not too moisture-retentive for more sensitive water-hating plants like my baby Thai Cons 🫣
But all of this is moot if you are constantly dropping all your plants anyway ☠️
My worst plant accident was dragging a shelf of plants down with a trailing Pothos I was moving. What’s yours 🥸

I hate it when plants are newly repoted and fall out of the pot, like just come out of the soil. Usually propagations

  • @idkwuzgoinon

It might be extra but it’s well worth it 💗

Getting your own good mix is so nice and makes all the difference, every time I'm improving it my plants are even happier! I had this Dieffenbachia Reflector that was nagging... my new perfect mix plus a smaller pot fixed it 😮

  • @sarahisinsecure

I been making my own soil mix for several years, however my struggles are mostly with organizing all my tools and different pods. That’s where I need some tips

    LOVE Rosy Soil! 🩷

  • @ic3f4iry

The absolute worst is when you are soo clumsy and break all of your propagation glasses ! 🥺 and dropping your soil plants is ALMOST equally frustrating 😭😭

  • @AnxietyFreak

Your set up is goals 🙏 🔥

  • @lisechoukroun7761

Love ALL your videos 😍 😂 also, where do you get those clear pots ???

  • @yariimizu

Do you soak or wash your LECA when you use it as a soil amendment?

  • @import2209

Do you have a video on how to get rid off pest or what to use ?

  • @tracyberlinski5109

That is my go to soil or I when I make my own I use pon, perlite, coco husks, and leca

  • @yland6003

You should try keeping a bucket of composting worms. Worm castings are full of the same beneficial bacteria and fungi you buy. The worms will eat your junk mail and kitchen scraps, and turn it into a steady supply of soil amendments.

I see a ladder type stand behind you. Was that custom made?

I think it's funny when people call you extra when literally my allocasia black velvet is dying because I want it to survive in the same conditions as all of my other plants I don't have time for a funky acting plant But I'm also propagating three corms because I am a glutton for punishment.... What I'm saying is we're all a little bit extra for the things that we're passionate about❤
