Kill and Prevent Grubs and Army Worms with ONE Product

- Lawn insect damage from grubs, armyworms and annual bluegrass weevils will ruin all the hard work you put into creating your golf course lawn lawn. In this video we introduce a product to the DIY community that's been traditionally been reserved for the professional turf industry.
It's easy to apply, safe to use, and a single application provides season-long protection from lawn insect damage. Last year we showed the granular equivalent. This year, it's all about Acelepryn SC.
Syngenta has made what used to cost over $1,000 available in a 4 oz. size that's much more affordable. A single bottle covers up to 1 acre depending on the application rate used. Apply in early April and May for great results.

I've got half a bag of Duocide left over from last season, but the fact Acelepryn is safe for earthworms is enough for me to switch. I'm looking forward to giving this a try. Excellent video, thanks!
Glad it was helpful Thomas! Appreciate you watching the content sir.
Look forward to trying this liquid version eventually , think I have enough granular Acelepryn to get through this season if not next as well. Acelepryn is a truly great product. Last season was the first time for me using it and was surprised how effective and long lasting this product is. Also refreshing not to see a bunch of dead earthworms and bees that sadly we often see when using certain other insecticides.
Great Andrew 77. Glad you're having good results with the product. Appreciate you chiming in.
I will definitely try this I got hit hard last year the bugs destroyed almost half my lawn, I didn’t know they could do that much damage I got lucky their was enough time for my lawn to recover
I'm a big fan of it Tomax. Does a great job keep armyworms and grubs away and is easy to apply.
I just received the granular. Definitely picking this up for next year. Great info and video. Awesome job Ron !!!
Thanks so much Ogsan1. I appreciate it 🙏😎
Ron I've been following you and your channel for close to 4 years now... As always great video very informative, targeted at the Pro Homeowner but easy enough to understand for the beginning Yard Master . More than the information you share I've enjoyed watching your editing grow and develop...
Awesome Brad! Thanks for the kind words. I've been trying to make the videos more fun to watch. Some of the topics on their own can be a bit dry so sprinkling in a bit of dad humor can make things more fun. Appreciate you watching. 😎
Thanks for this vid! I am about to apply this to my lawn, and the application rates were a bit confusing between army worm and grubs. Very helpful!!!!
Glad it’s useful Neal. 🙏😎
Great video Ron ! I’ve been watching you since the beginning and it’s amazing how much you keep raising the bar every year. Really good !
Thanks Scott! I’m trying sir. It’s getting harder and harder. 😎
This is awesome way to get really even coverage. I have about 1/2 bag of the granular from last year but I picked some of this up anyway today for later in the season. Thanks for the explanation on how to effectively use this.
Anytime Alejandro. I really appreciate the support. Let me know if I can help with anything else sir.
This stuff looks great, thanks for info Ron. I'm planning to incorporate this into my program next spring. Question I have is do you water in this application? If so, immediate or the next day? Thanks.
Hi Alexander. It's a great product. You don't have to water it in immediately. If you wait until the next day you're still good.
@@RonHenry Perfect, thanks Ron!
Great information and editing. Also, thank you for converting the app rate from oz/acre to oz/1K per sq feet. Makes it so easy.
That's the goal Papa Mows Low! Appreciate you watching sir.
Ron, I picked up some Acelepryn SC to takle Japanese Beetles on my Crepe Myrtles. I have not put any insecticide on the lawn this season and was curious if I should go ahead and apply to lawn now?
Yes you should. Absolutely go for it NMS.
Awesome explanation Ron I will be applying this on my lawn this weekend
Sounds awesome Robert. Let me know if I can help with anything.
Hey Ron is it too late to put down some grub killer in October? I seen a lot of moths in the lawn lately. I’m in California and temps are in the 90s.
Not too late.
Hi Ron, I’m in North Carolina with tall fescue and applied Acelepryn SC April 15th and was wondering if i need another treatment before fall or is once a year enough? Grubs and army worms are my target….Thank you.
Once should be enough darby. If you want to do a second application, you can though. Just don't exceed annual limits.
I need to order this. Thank you Ron
Very welcome Natalie! Appreciate the support. Let me know if you have any questions.
Is Acelepryn a preventative and/or curative measure? I’m curious to know if I can apply it as a curative this time of year after already seeing evidence of army worms.
It’s both Eric. If you have an army worm infestation, it’s a great choice. You can get it in liquid or granular form here: golfcourselawn.store/collections/insecticide-and-fungicide
May have to try it this year. Cost isn't as bad as I figured.
Not at all Tim. The coverage is really good given what you pay.
Still rings true!
Yessir!
Can you recommend an application rate for spraying ornamentals, or basically all the bushes/shrubs on my property?
You would spray this into the soil LPShooter. The application rate of .20 oz per 1000 square feet would still apply.
@@RonHenry awesome, thanks for the reply. Look forward to watching more of your videos
I’m located in SENC, what time of the year is best to apply this product for grub control?
Where is SENC?
@@RonHenry south east North Carolina.
What would you recommend for Bermuda mites?

@@RonHenry thanks! Just ordered 2 bags!!!!
Ron, can I apply acelepryn now? It's March 10th and I'm in Greenville County SC, which is not far from you. Additionally, is this a once a year application or should I repeat it in the fall? Thanks!
Hi William. I would wait until closer to the end of this month. You can apply again in August. Great product. It's what I use on my lawn.

Really appreciate your videos. I’m going to use Acelepryn this season. I would love to see a video like this about Certainty. It can be a little confusing for use rookies because it’s mix ratio is 2 gallons per 1000 sq Ft. I’m spot treating kyllinga and don’t usually need 2 gallons. The basic math used is cut the amount in half. Instead of 5 small scoops @ 1.25 oz/acre use 2.5 small scoops or .5 of a large scoop in 1 gallon water?
You've got it Robert. I have a video on using Certainty here. Granted it also shows mixing it with Celsius. ruclips.net/video/0wxW3zXrvX8/видео.html If all you're doing is spot spraying, you can use 1 gallon of water and cut the rate in half. 1 large scoop or 3 small scoops mixed with a gallon of water will do the trick. Use a surfactant with it for best results. ron-henry.com/surfactant Can get Certainty here: golfcourselawn.store/products/certainty-herbicide-1-25-oz-sedge-and-poa-annua-control Let me know if I can help with anything else. You can see in the images on store how Certainty works against Kyllinga. Excellent product.
@@RonHenry Great information. Thanks!
Hey Ron, I put down Acelepryn eary last month. Is it too early to apply Caravan G?
I'm in the Peachtree City area.
Hi Sierra. I wouldn’t apply Caravan if you’ve already applied Acelepryn. Apply Headway G instead. golfcourselawn.store/products/headway-g-fungicide-granular
Thank you! The video I have been waiting for!
Hope you like it Luis. Thanks for watching.
How do you know if you have worms or bugs? I've had dry dead areas and can't tell what it's from despite watering.
Armyworms are typically above the surface so they're easily visible. Grubs are beneath the surface and attack the roots. If you're able to pull the grass up easily, that's often an indicator of grubs.
Just received my Acelepryn from you and have to ask another rookie question. Very easy to understand mix rate from the video. 0.2 oz per gallon per 1000 sq Ft. On your website under the video and in the instructions under lawns it mentions a minimum of 2 gallons per 1000 sq Ft. Can you help me understand this? My plan for my centipede in Myrtle Beach SC is to apply before the middle of April at 0.2 oz per gallon per 1000 sq Ft.
1 gallon of water mixed with .2 oz. Of Acelepryn applied over 1000 square feet will work. I’ll check and fix the product description. Thanks for the heads up.
Great video. Really helpful. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Would this also control fleas? If not, is there a good grub and free control product out there?
I would use Acelepryn for grubs. For fleas, golfcourselawn.store/products/mirimichi-green-pest-control-free-shipping
Can this be combined with certainty and Celsius combo?
Yes. Just wait until the next day to water it in.
@@RonHenry thanks for responding quickly it is highly appreciated
Will this work with Mole Crickets?!
Use this for mole crickets: ron-henry.com/deltaguard
Good morning. Mole crickets are terrible in my area (NW FL) for the past year. Ive tried four products with different ingredients and still getting damage. What do you recommend?
Hi Brian. They're pretty difficult to control. Have you tried Bifenthrin? ron-henry.com/bifenthrin You can mix it along with the Mirimichi Green Pest Control: golfcourselawn.store/products/mirimichi-green-pest-control-free-shipping to knock them back. It will be a consistent battle though. No one and done in most cases with mole crickets. Hope this helps.
Ron is right as always! I have had a lot of difficulty controlling them in my zoysia lawn here in NE Fl. They decimated my front lawn in 2 weeks time. Ron keyed me in to Bifenthin and I've used a 1 2 punch of it with Dominion 2L. Have to time it right and hit them hard. They seem to develop resistance in mature adult stage. And you have to keep your eye out, no one and done like Ron says.
Thanks gatortalk6. They’re a pain to deal with. Will be a constant fight.
👍👍👍. Thanks for great information!!
I’m due for a refill of my grub prevention. Maybe I need to consider this route. 🤔
It's a great choice Frankie. It worked great for me last year to keep grubs and armyworms away.
Ron I purchased soil kit from your website got my results back dont know how to read it need your help
Can you take a screenshot and send to me please? ron@golfcourselawn.com
What is a good product to use to kill moss in my yard?
4 oz of dish soap mixed with a gallon of water Edwin. Alternatively can use Moss-Ex: amzn.to/3KPoTco
Hi Ron. Do you prefer acelepryn sc over caravan g? caravan g has both insecticide and pesticides included. I ask since one has both or would you apply the acelepryn first and later add the caravan g maybe towards the summer?
I do like Acelepryn better har11old. I apply it in early April and Headway G fungicide in May. Acelepryn is a better insecticide than what’s in Caravan G. Targets more insects while being safe for earthworms and pollinators. That’s why I switched away from Caravan and went to 2 different products.

There’s also a liquid version of Acelepryn if you prefer that. ron-henry.com/acelepryn

@@RonHenry Awesome. The reason I asked is because I have both products in my collection of goods but based on your testing and results from past experience I will go with Acelepryin g this year and see how things go. I saw someone mention that they only has to add Acelepryin once yearly. How often are you applying if i may ask?
@@har11old Just once per season is all it usually takes. I applied in late March last year and it kept my lawn insect free.
I noticed that that Yard Mastery sprayer is basically a Strom sprayer. same exact backpack, battery, straps, the whole thing.
The straps and tank layout are the same but the pump and included fittings are different. This sprayer flows more than the storm. I believe both sprayers are made by the same company. The specs on the YM are different though.
@@RonHenry and Yard Martery is Allen Haynes company, right?
Thanks Ron!
Anytime Rich! Appreciate you watching sir.
Can I add a IGR to this product when I mixing it up
i wouldn't Ronald. PGR isn't designed to be watered in whereas Acelepryn SC is. Hope this helps.
Ok a Insect Growth Regulator
Tekko Pro IGR is a insect growth regulator. Can I mix it with this product
Hi Ronald. You can but they have different use cases. Acelepryn is labeled for outdoor use only and on turfgrass. Tekko IGR can be applied indoors and outdoors. If you're mixing it with Acelepryn, I would only apply it outdoors and only to the lawn. Hope this helps.
Yes thank you
How often do you apply this product?
Typically only once per season Frederick. You'd apply now and be set for the entire season. Let me know if you have any other questions.
@@RonHenry Thanks
Is the first week of May too late to apply ?
Not too late at all. Can be applied throughout the growing season. April / May is great timing.
I see it does not cover ants. can I mix it and what should I mix with to treat for ants army worms etc…
For ants use this: ron-henry.com/advion
So use Teejet AIXR11004VP to apply?
Yep! That one will work Jeremy. Larger droplet size is what you're after. This amzn.to/3u1wptW or this amzn.to/3JwAXyB will work well. Hope this helps.
@@RonHenry just purchased the TeeJet TTI11004-VP Turbo TeeJet. So this tip is good for insecticide only?
@@jeremyespinoza279 can also be used for pre-emergent and other herbicides. Applications where a larger droplet size is better.
@@RonHenry ok thanks. I am a newbie so a lot of questions. Sorry about that.
