  • APA Mamba 34 TF Compound Bow REVIEW. In this video I go over the APA Mamba 34 TF Compound bow. I shot the bow through a chronograph at 70 pounds with a 350 grain arrow, 450, and 550 grain arrow. I shot three of each and averaged the data. I then shot the bow at 65 pounds through the chronograph using a 325, 425, and 525 grain arrow. This will give you an idea of speeds for the weight of arrow you intend to shoot. Thanks again Sean. Great review. I haven’t shot any new bows in about 13 years. I was thinking after watching your last review about the sting stops that I see on all the bows now. I hope this isn’t a stupid question but wouldn’t it be louder to have the string hit that than not hitting anything after the shot? Again thank you for taking the time to make these reviews.

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  6 лет назад

      Not really. When bows didn't have those they twanged like a guitar string, so they were actually louder in many instances.

    Great bow... I think it's more of a knife sharpener than a broad head sharpener.. nice review

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  6 лет назад

      It’s intended for broad heads but might be more applicable for a knife

    Just ordered a new Barnett vortex bow with being out of work and my health not being 100% (back issues) it seems like a good deal just for me to shoot targets.

  • @Waty8413
    @Waty8413 6 лет назад

    The built in sharpener is a little hokey in my opinion, but I think the other unusual design features have merit. The carry handle may indeed make a fully rigged bow/quiver less awkward to carry on long walks and the hook makes sense. However, I think I would need to use the bow in a real hunting situation to be confident that those features are well designed. Regardless, it's nice to see something different.

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  6 лет назад

      I disagree. I've had many quivers that have a foam insert in the hood and after getting into the season and pulling an arrow out and putting it back in a bunch of times, it can lose some of its sharpness. I've had situations where I've been in the stand, pulled out the arrow and discovered that the broad head just wasn't as sharp so I've had to put it back in and pick another. I've also known people who carry only three arrows and got three shots during the rut without connecting. They had to stop hunting as a result. With this, they could climb down out of the stand, grab those arrows and sharpen the broad heads back up and get back in the stand. They could then keep hunting whereas without the sharpener they'd be heading home. If you are two miles back in the woods, like I sometimes am, that little sharpener can save the day and hunting continues. God bless ya.

    Great review and I agree with you on the "extra" user friendly features being great for when your in the back country. The carry handle and texture also make me want to try it. I hope they have them at the Outdoors show (wow, Feb 3rd is fast approaching!), I look forward to shooting one. I think the only thing I didn't hear you mention was the price they were going for at that bow shop. Again, thanks for sharing!

      They will be there. I talked to them on the phone in the process of trying to get them for review. I basically lucked out in that one of the only places in PA that carries them is within a half hour. It was a newer shop that recently opened up and I didn't even know about it before contacting APA looking for a way to review them.

    Hey Sean, i have a hard time believing it cost's an extra 100$ for limb stops. ive been shooting APA's for 2 years now and live about 4-5 hr drive away from them. my bows came with limbs stops with no extra charge. and was this 34 TF timed correctly as well?

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  6 лет назад

      Well, when I talked to the owner of the company at the Great American Outdoor show in Harrisburg PA last year, he told me it cost an extra $100 for the limb stops. Unless they started to include them for free this year, then I would guess they are still $100 extra.

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  6 лет назад

      Yes, the timing was dead on. The guy who runs Brush Mountain Archery is meticulous in the tuning of the bows.

    • @Stoney2525
      @Stoney2525 6 лет назад

      Oh, okay awesome. yeah Nibal is awesome hey? but im pretty sure all their bows come with limb stops now as far as i know now. you should try one out with limb stops they're even better :-P

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  6 лет назад +1

      I did. I talked with them this year at the Great American Outdoor show and shot all the bows they had there with the limb stop. The only thing that keeps me from buying one right now is how easily they come off of the back wall. If they would just stay on the back wall better I would have ordered one already. I thought about contacting them and asking them if they could work on a cam module that would enable it to stay on the back wall better for me. If they could, I'd order one.

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  6 лет назад

      On their website it shows the bow with a "Starting Price" and the bow is not pictured with limb stops. The only place I can find the limb stops mentioned is on the product guide where the titanium upgrade is also listed but no prices are put for that either, yet I was told there is a charge to upgrade to the titanium, so it gives me the impression that there is still a charge with the limb stops. The dealer where I tested these bows did not have limb stops for the APA bows, which gives me the impression they didn't come standard with the bows.

  • @knownuthinarcher4308
    @knownuthinarcher4308 6 лет назад

    I think the RDS bows/upgrade provide the limb stops. Don't think their free unless it's an RDS model.
    In any case, APA bows are built for speed and power. Not so much for comfort. Rated 355 fps w/ a 6" brace, you know it's going to be an aggressive cam.
    The King Cobra TF is even more aggressive, rated @ 370 fps w/ a 5 1/4" brace height.

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  6 лет назад

      Actually APA bows have a very smooth draw cycle. They definitely surprised me, but they also do not come close to putting out the advertised speed.

    • @knownuthinarcher4308
      @knownuthinarcher4308 6 лет назад

      Sean's Outdoor Adventures
      Sorry, should've been more specific... the "valley" and backwall are aggressive/jumpy as many speed bows tend to be.
      The draw itself (I'm told) is comparable to older Bowtech cams. It kinda rolls into the valley. But you can't relax too much once you're holding at full draw. She'll jump on ya. I don't mind a little of that. It helps keep me focused on my form. But I don't want to worry about with an animal in my target window. That's why I'd pick the Mamba 34 over the King Cobra TF for hunting. Maybe the Cobra for 3D. 370 fps would be sweet at unknown distances.

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  6 лет назад

      It's not aggressive, but the bow is unable to stay on the back wall, which is the ONLY reason why I don't own one. If it stayed on the back wall I would be shooting one of these bows right now. Everything about these bows are smooth and well designed, but they just can't stay on the back wall unless you keep a fair amount of constant back tension. Still, it isn't aggressive when it comes off, it simply comes off. I've owned bows that were aggressive in coming off the wall. If you let up a least bit it wanted to rip your arm off coming forward. These APA bows are not like that. They will come off the back wall easily, but you can also stop it very easily and put it back on the back wall. Regardless, the very fact that they come off so easily is the only reason I don't own one. I really like everything else about them.

    • @knownuthinarcher4308
      @knownuthinarcher4308 6 лет назад

      Sean's Outdoor Adventures
      I tried an older model, and it stacked super hard a few inches before the valley. It felt like the draw went from 35 lbs to 70 lbs in the last 5 inches or so, then crashed into a short valley.
      It sounds like they smoothed out the draw, but the hold at full draw sounds the same. The few shots were kinda ruined by being worried about it jumping than really enjoying the bow.
      I'm still planning on getting one with the rotating draw stops. They have a "test drive" program. 5 days worry-free return if I don't like it. For about the same money, I can get a PSE Xpedite or Elite Impulse 34.

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  6 лет назад +1

      Yeah, they must have changed the draw cycle on the cam because it doesn't dump like that now. Good luck with whatever you end up going with. God bless you
