I’m not a RPGer but I will sometimes call it a D6, usually ONLY if there are other dice of different sides in the game. For example, in a game where there is a D20, or D12, I would call it a D6 so people understand which “dice” in talking about
I totally would, except I backed Onslaught 3 and I purchased everything I was missing...which means unless I want two copies of the factions, I have to wait. :( Though I just looked and the estimated delivery is June 2018, so I just might and then just give out the factions! Good call, I didn't realize it was going to be so long!
ok Phil, I bought them! I have no idea how long it will take to get here, but once I get it, I'll play a few games with them and do the videos, thanks for the idea!
Do you have all of the factions already? If not, I'd recommend getting the factions. After that, or maybe even before, grabbing the high priests is pretty esential. After that, Azathoth is a pretty nice expansion because in a single box you get a number of pieces and parts you can choose to add or not in any given game. Neutral spellbooks, an indy GOO, a bunch of neutral monsters. Really since you shouldn't use all of the expansions in one game (at least at first, and probably never), this is a pretty good value. Post what you're getting. :)
@@GreyWizardInsights is buying azathoth and independents before buying other factions a bad idea? I don't have many players in my group but azathoth and independents look very interesting
Matt Crawley Azathoth is awesome, it makes every game for every faction, have more options. Because you can rotate in just a couple each game, you get a lot of replayability. You can let each player choose one "optional unit" knowing that whatever optional unit (or spellbooks) they choose, might help their enemy. I think that is much more valuable than simply buying another faction. True story, when I first add a new faction, sometimes they get left unplayed because people already had a plan for what they wanted to do with their faction of choice. In that scenario, more neutral units or spellbooks was more "fun" than simply buying a faction that was left unplayed. If people are bored or haven't found their preferred faction, buying more factions might help someone find a niche, but otherwise I really love the neutral components.
I say D6 and D20 and so on - at least in English (less often in my native Danish). I have played pen-and-paper RPGs a little bit, but I would not consider myself much of a roleplayer. I have, however, read lots of RPG books...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe a player that's already at 0 power can participate in Nuclear Chaos. They're effectively out of the round when they hit 0 unless acted upon to gain power like from Sleeper or something.
You cannot take actions, so you can't activate Nuclear Chaos, thats correct. However, you can do anything else like sacrificing High Priests or any other "non-action" ability that lets you do something and get power. So if your enemies are out of power, you might want to hesitate about using Nuclear Chaos or you might put them back into the round!
Oh, but I mean when a player is out (0 power), they would not be able to participate in the die roll for Nuclear Chaos (someone else uses it, you are an opponent who has to roll), would they? I remember seeing a video where Sandy says CC's Thousand Forms can't be rolled for if you're out of power, so one strategy is to wait until everyone is low or out of power to maximize the chances of CC gaining power. Wouldn't Nuclear Chaos be the same situation? I'm also getting this assumption from Omega FAQ: Q. How does Windwalker’s Hibernate interact with Crawling Chaos’s Thousand Forms? A. Despite the fact that Windwalker is not an active Faction when hibernating, he does participate in the negotiations for how much Power is lost, and may choose to lose Power due to Thousand Forms. The answer seems to imply that a 0-power player can't participate in TF. =)
Actually, the FAQ clarifies that "not active factions" CAN participate in TF. It says he "May choose" to lose power due to Thousand Forms, thats despite "not being active". So far, every ability that gives an inactive player power, allows that player to resume taking actions. However, I'm open to the possibility of being wrong, so I posted on BGG asking for any clarification, Sandy is pretty good about responding but he'll have just been getting back from Spiel17 so might be slow to respond, regardless, when I get a firm response, I'll post back here! Thanks for commenting, I definitely want to be 100% confident in my understanding. :)
boardgamegeek.com/thread/1875015/azathoth-nuclear-chaos-and-inactive-factions-facti Power brings you back in from @tiagomo Similarly you are back on track if you gain power by: 1. Passion (YS) 2. Harbinger (someone foolish attacked CC with a unprotected GOO) 3. Tsathoggua fulfilling spellbook 4. Sacrifice a High Priest. 5. Several other indies like Starvampire rolling a pain, killing the enemy Dhole, battle in Dire Azathoth area, Cthugha vampirism etc if we get a Petersen Games (maybe Sandy) to post, I'll share that too. :)
Hey will you do a tactic/strategies video about the independant monsters and GOO's? Because i would like To have your opinion about certain tactics for some factions.
the next video is going to be about neutral spellbooks, then the video after that is about Elder things and so on through the independent monsters from the Azathoth set. Which independent monsters would you like covered? (I plan on doing all of them eventually, but comments like this will help determine the order I do them in)
DorkSideCookies oh sorry didn't your question, maybe if you make neutral monsters first (the dreamlands monsters expansions are good for a start) then go for indie GOO's. Another idea if you have big motivation and willing To put long and detailed vids is To pic each faction and review neutral units To see each indie monster/GOO synergy with each faction. But this format needs preparation as you review EVERY neutral unit for each faction. But its nothing more than my idea ;). The neutral expansions i personnally like the most are the dreamlands monster pack 1&2 and the GOO pack 1 and 3 (gobogeg is just for the fun, hes not meant To be competitive)
I think my next few videos are going to be close to your idea. I'm taking each neutral unit (and eventually each GOO) and talking about them with each faction. I thought about it and its the only right way to really understand what value each neutral unit brings to the game. I can't wait to get to the rest of the units after the Azathoth expansion. :)
Also, thanks for making Cthulhu wars content. You are one of the few and the best.
Thank you so much for the compliment. :) If you ever visit Vegas make sure to reach out. :)
I completely agree with you Phil!

Gameslore in Britain has both expansions in stock. I recently received all 4. The shipping cost a little, but it's better then ebay

Cthulhu plus Azathoth is funny :)
I'm planning to get expansion packs for Cthulhu Wars. What would you recommend?

What is the translation of what you say in Danish?
In Danish I might more often say "6-sided die" and "20-sided die".
Also if you live in Louisiana you can use mine:)
I say die or dice but if its anything above or below six I'll say dx
I've had the azathoth expansion for about a year and haven't used it yet. Azathoth the GOO looks like a lot of fun
