- The ninth cycle of Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model premiered on 20 June 2013 on Sky Living. Two judges from the previous cycle did not retain their positions. Elle Macpherson continued as the show's head judge along with model Tyson Beckford, but fashion designer Julien Macdonald and Whitney Port left the series. Australian singer and talent show judge Dannii Minogue joined the series as a third judge.
The contestants were taken to the Matthew Curtis salon for makeovers, where Abigail and Saffron refused to cut their hair. They were later taken to a manor house in the countryside, and had a photo shoot on a pommel horse with gymnast Louis Smith. After being treated for a special meal at one of London's top restaurants, the models prepared for their next elimination. At elimination Lauren received picture of the week, while Abigail, Danielle, Laura, and Saffron were singled out as the week's worst performing contestants. Abigail and Danielle landed in the bottom two, and Danielle was eliminated from the competition.

Unless you’ve spent years growing your hair long and spent hours and hours on it then suddenly someone wants to cut it all off you have no idea what it does to someone. Danni needs to stop being so rude and brutal, she’s totally surprised me

You are correct! She said she didn't care what they did to her hair, cut it, shave her head, etc...she talked about being soooo strong, I sense a big ole' attention seeking brat coming our way...

It's insane how much of a glow up Danielle became post show, girl looks amazing now being signed as an Elite Model. It's CRAZY, she looks PHENOMENAL now
So "army girl" laughs at the other girls crying but ends up crying as well when they only cut a couple inches off her crappy hairstyle. She didn't come into the competition with nice hair so what did she expect 😂
And.... army girl is apparently a hairdresser!!!!!! Are you kidding me, a hairdresser crying because she’s getting a trim to her already cropped hair 🙄🙄🙄

Abigail and Saffron should have been disqualfied for not doing the makeovers. In the real world of modeling, they would not have gotten the job.

My good feelings about this NTM version definitely soured at this point, keeping both of the girls who refused their makeovers (which I didn't realize was even an option before this if they wanted to stay in the competition); that's part of the interest of the show as a viewer, seeing the girls' transformations. I wish I had a high-level professional team to do that for me!!!
* I have since totally changed my mind about this, after watching Jessica Kobeissi's reaction videos of old ANTM episodes where girls are mercilessly bullied and disparaged, including about not wanting their hair all cut off. I now very much respect that they were not forced to on here nor punished for not doing so at future panels.
They would never get away with saying no and all that crying on ANTM.
Those weren't nice makeovers. Some looked the same and others looked better before. The only one that I liked was Angel's.
They were enhancements.

some of the girls dissing the 2 girls who didn't get the makeovers all kept their long hair and just had highlights added. it's easy to badmouth someone when their own long hair wasn't even cut!

Everybody talking shit about the girls who didn't wanted the makeover, but ALL other girls only got like extensions or painted their hair. They were the only 2 who needed to cut it ALL. Of course they need to suck it up to become models, but it's not fair at all. Change them all at least

So strange how Emily feels super confident in her pink outfit for the shoot and yet when it comes to the nude shoot, she panics and works herself up all day? I’m sure it’s definitely nerve wracking going nude, but her pink outfit was very revealing 😂😂
I like how the judges actually participate as opposed to ANTM , this seems like more of how tHe fashion industry is , instead of Tyra and jay being mean to tHe models
Saffron and Abigail are ridiculous. They want to be models but don't want to cut their hair. Models are canvases they have to do whatever it takes and then Abigail says she'll cut her hair after seeing her photo like what changed
I don’t know why some girls like fully have breakdowns over haircuts I’ve fully had my shaved off and have it cut short all the time because it suits my face best- I’d love to have long hair but it doesn’t suit me at all. Hair grows back unless your someone’s who struggles with hair growth. It’s not permanent
How come Dani Minogue was the BINTM Judge? She doesn’t know about the modeling industry. She was the X Factor and AGT Judge

i actually quite like Danii as judge...she's honest and humble
Also notice in this episode how she influenced Elle's attitude. At first Elle was okay with not changing the hairstyle, then after talking with Dani she attacked those girls. Specific to say the least.

Both girls who opted out would have looked so much worse with the assignment they were given. The platinum blond and the one with the weird curly two-tone should have refused too!
You KNOW going into the modelling industry u have to change ur hair style to much with the new trend if u aren't willing...DONT BE A MODEL! No one will want to work with someone who isn't versatile.
@@its_hailey-rose8300 They wanted one to have a short 1930s bob, and the other to have a crew cut. Tell me that more modeling jobs are going to want one of those than long hair. Being a model is about being the canvas for a product/ being a consumers ideal, not about standing out/ looking shit.

I laugh watching these girls get so crazy and upset about cutting their hair... it's HAIR for God's sake! It grows back and if you think that it is your hair that makes you you, then you have a LOT to learn for sure. They should be grateful for the chance to win the competition and just do whatever is necessary. What a bunch of whiney crybabies!

To be fair there's hardly anything to react to! These makeovers were virtually nonexistent and the two dramatic ones for Abi and Saffron didn't even happen

That is absolutely lies. Clearly u know nothing about modelling. Of u are a model u have to know ur hair will change all the time due to the newest trend. No one would want to book u bc u aren't versatile. I don't even think u would get an agent.
Well it all depends; it’s not absolute as depicted in the show. The client already has a predetermined look that they want and they will pick a model with that look. So if the model chosen by the client has short hair or different hair than the brief the client may give the model a wig to wear on set to achieve the desired style. At the end of the day it’s up to the model whether they want to make that hair change or not. Some models go through their career without really changing up their hair much once they find their signature look, while others change up their hair more often. While hair is part of developing a signature look, some models have other defining features that make it less necessary to change their look.

My favorite episode of all top model shows, Makeovers but they Always excuse my French, F up someone’s hair and cut the one or some of theirs that have long hair 🤦🏼♀️😱 like saffron I feel bad if they cut her hair off with a pixie cut and even to her shoulders is short for her so the ones with long hair too like her get to keep theirs so that’s no fair I think but it’s SO predictable so should already be prepared before you go tbat if you have long hair there’s a good chance they will cut it, so eventhough I feel
Bad for the ones with long hair that they want to cut short but well hair grows back eventually but there’s no guarantee how long they will be there so they could get eliminated that same episode after getting it cut so I’m kind of mixed on this

Emily: Dyed platinum blonde and also blonde hair extensions and made into a bob
Emma: Long hair extensions and more blonder

Lauren: Long Brazilian weave
