Macedonia really is underrated 💯 I visited Ohrid in winter and was probably the only tourist, however it was one of the most magical places I have ever been to. Safe travels and keep up the good videos! ❤

Nice to see places that I didn't have time to visit. Great shots with drone. In my opinion after visiting about 90% countries of the Europe North Macedonia is in top 3 of cheapest countries in Europe. I had spending about 50e/day there which included eating, drinking, parking and filling the car, hotels not included. Neighboring Albania felt bit more expensive than I would have thought.
Interesting, I thought Albania was really inexpensive but my visit was a few years ago now! I did however find North Macedonia very cheap and there are definitely some amazing deals to be had! Enjoyed my trip there and getting the drone up in the air was a pleasure, things always look so incredible from the sky. Thanks for tuning in 👍

Hi Matt It must be Sunday again. How are you? The adventure continues…..How do you find some of these remote regions? Isn’t it great to get away from the madness though…why is nobody there? All I can say is “may it remain thus”. Oh look at the gorgeous puppy…sadly there are SO many stray cats and dogs throughout these Balkans… In reality, the likelihood of me actually seeing many of the places you’ve been to is in itself “remote” so I once again thank you for your persistence and for sharing your adventures. I think you’re better off not going all the way down that ridge line.. Ok, so that narrow winding road is treacherous, let alone in the rain. It is hard to believe that many of these areas are actually in Europe, they look so remote and basic. Nice rental vehicle. Hello zoltán, don’t they just. It’s kinda scary where time goes - if only we could slow it down ever so slightly. I forget exactly how I found this place now, it was probably just seeing the lake on a map and wondering what was there. I liked the fact that there wasn’t much information on it and the roads looked kinda narrow - thought it might be worth a look and boy was I right! It was tempting to follow that ridge along but my instincts told me to give it a miss - likely the right call. Glad I could take you along with me, there really is so much to discover in the Balkans. I certainly hope it remains quiet and peaceful for the foreseeable!

Interesting you should say that, I can remember talking to someone else a while back (might have been when I was in Montenegro) and they said the same about only hearing about the beach resorts in Yugoslavia! Incredible really when you consider all these other places.

Thanks for the information. I saw hunting in the sign, do you know what is hunted there? I didn’t realise there were any nuclear bunkers but it would make sense considering the areas history. I take it they’re not open to the public?
@@MattWhitingsEurope not open at all and you can't reach them. They're heavily guarded and in use by the military. Jasen is full of wildlife boars, bears, deer, etc. But only some of those can be hunted and it costs quite a bit of money. Still very "elite."

I suspect one day they’ll be retired and opened up as a tourist destination. Incredible area, I’m still surprised there were so few people around considering their close proximity to Skopje. The Yugoslav army had 4 army areas. The third army area was responsible for the defense of Macedonia, South Serbia, Kosovo and parts of Montenegro. It's headquarters were in Jasen. It has a large bunker for 50 people (basicaly command center) that can withstand nuclear attack and attack with biological weapon. I call it "The Macedonian Area 51" :)))
