Thanks, Steve. Very interesting indeed. BTW I really like your structured and clear intros - we know what we're getting, and then we get it. Very professional. Hope you have a nice Christmas and all the best for 2024! 🤗PS Please don't book too many arguments with your wife (I've never forgotten that terrific episode) 🤣😂🤣

I like the video. The ability to dial-in the off peak charging shouldn’t require a new charger….that should simply be a matter of software…..weird.

Nice video Steve, any videos planned in the e tron? I have an e golf & looking for something with better range also. On the Zappi it is now integrated to intelligent octopus giving even cheaper charging overnight for 6 hrs which works really well.

It's obviously waterproof if you have it outside correct?

Thanks for the info, but my 220 volt outlet in my garage with the basic Tesla mobile cable kit is just fine for me. I charge up only at home and do only short trips. And do charging during off peak hours for lower costs.
Works for me, I don't need anything fancier. Take care.

The Tesla does not allow me to set a charge window either with a dumb 3-pin connector. Am I being dumb or this genuinely not possible?

    • @SteveJulien

You can set a start time under the ‘charging tab’ in the car or on your phone.
Third party apps like Ev.energy allow you to set a charging window.

Software is one of the reasons to go Tesla. Our family owns 5 Teslas since 2013 some are driven over 360.000 km. We are only 4 in our household but I love all our Teslas so much so we haven’t sold one yet. Still using our old gen 1 Tesla chargers as we set the charging time in the car our in a third party app. The Model Y late 2023 Berlin build is by far the best even if our old once still work great. Good luck to you with you new Y. We did buy one Volkswagen E some years ago but software was shit and as far as I know still is.

My man, swap to intelligent go.
You get an extra hour of cheap rate which is slightly cheaper (7.5p), and octopus will give you extra hours to charge the car if needed to get your charge target.
If you use home assistant, you can also detect if you are on the extra hours and maybe program your battery to not discharge into the car.
    That's my setup. Very useful.
