Despite having a magical wand of iconic rock destruction in his hands he plays it totally clean (utterly brilliantly I might add) .. that kids is a lesson .. hone your chops without reliance on too much gain, I know it's flattering, but you'll be glad you did in the end. All hail Greg and his guitar Kochery !
Such a great experience to get to listen to those magical PAFs played by Greg. I tell you folks, Gibson's 57-60 reissues are absolutely incredible since 2013. You will never regret an investment in one those...I can VALIDATE that personally. Great video.
Bj Garris yes, and have you tried any of the collectors choice lesters? I didn't think they would be THAT good, but the one i tried just was. i played the # 17. such a great guitar in every way possible.. its just a shame i don't have the dough for one right now
+Bj Garris I concur my friend, I have a 2015 True Historic 1960 and its become my #1. I've gone through lots of high end guitars but nothing sounds or feels like that LP
The poor little guy probably only gets to come out of the case when people like greg koch comes over. It is beautiful! Looks brand new. It has a nice sound. Bright but you can get the warm tones when you want em.
Those bursts are untouchable I don't care what anybody says the proof is right here, there is no other guitar that sounds like that. Don't get me wrong I love pretty much all legit guitar companies but Gibson LP's are the king of them all.
Man that is super clean for an original 60, I have that exact guitar but it's a VOS and I love it to death. It's as close to the real thing I'm willing to pay and that was ridiculously expensive too but this guitar is in the 6 digits for sure.
If the people in the 1960 saw the Gristlemaster play, they would likely think he was from another planet...he hails from a species known as the Fingerlings...
Not really. It has to do with how PAF's were designed as well as the tone and volume pots, and the 50's wiring. Modern Les Pauls (the Gibson USA ones, not the Custom Shop reissues) are not made this way, which is why everyone associates a darker tone with them. Original humbuckers were not dark at all.
It's almost like Gibson ceded the bright and sparkly territory to Fender and all their LPs since have been gritty and brown. If I could get a LP that sounded like this, whoooo boy*. *Without selling my first born and both kidneys, natch
Greg is such an amazing player, just nuts what he can pull off the fret board but I think my $500 homemade MightyMite Nocaster 51 pup comes close, kidding..
My R0, while stunning in its own right, doesn't quite have that clear as a bell ring to it like this one does. I'm sure my playing has nothing to do with it... ;-)
It’s wierd! This room and it’s contents and the people in it is exactly what I pictured it’s gonna be like after i die. You die and apear there all of a sudden and start your eternal life. Then i find out it exist. It made me wonder if i had passed away but didn’t make it there for some reason.
This video is proof that expensive guitars don't matter. This guy sounds just as good with a $1000 american standard telecaster. Doesn't matter what guitar he picks up, it sounds like Greg Koch...
He's OK, but I prefer my guitar demos played by balding, middle aged, really large, genuinely hilarious guys with incredible technical proficiency and a strong sense of timing tone.
Just watched a video of Ed King playing his 1959 Standard. This guitar Greg is playing sounds totally different. It has none of the woody almost "saxophon-ish" tone that Ed's had.
Ok. I'm not feeling the Pop that usually comes out of these old guitars. Probably this one hasn't been played much and hence it looks so new. These guitars need to be played.. Played with love or played with hate.
Yo man,?,?,, Ya finally get to knock hell out of a real paul and what do you do?!?!? Fudge every fender riff ever created.all the while carryin that dumn look on your face.

My God that looks like it just came off the shelf...beautiful...and who better than the gentleman playing to really show it off...Cheers mr. Koch.
A match made in Heaven. An Original 1960 Les Paul and astounding guitarist, Greg Koch. Bravo!
This 1960 les paul is in a better condition than my 2011 les paul.
That's because your Les Paul hasn't been owned by a handful of cork sniffers who can't play.
its owned by Mike Slub, it doesn't say its played by.
Its 20 years older than me and in better condition lol!
Great video from Greg as usual...The PAFs almost sound like single coils..Bright and articulate.Even the neck pickup.
The Guy is just so Good, that I need to practice another 1,000 years just to get to 1/8th the level of Greg.
Perfect pickups with a perfect player
Watching his fingers fly around is mesmerizing.

RIGHT BUT NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THESE BABIES
I have a R0 from 2010. What did they change in 2013?
I think Greg used up all the expensive chords in one go...

This is what a Les Paul should sound like!
Loved the Django!
at 1.55 ish! Well spotted
Greg my boy is something else

1:54 Django's Impro No 1!!! I just don't believe it. Great.
Greg, you guitar playing mutant! Like a super hero that was bit by a spider that had been radiated with guitar awesomeness.
1:56 is an improvisation from Django ?
Greg is one of the few guys that plays with the chops of Les Paul himself.
man he can play, I would say he is as good as the best.
If the people in the 1960 saw the Gristlemaster play, they would likely think he was from another planet...he hails from a species known as the Fingerlings...
Greg, you're the first person I've ever heard say his full name, Lester Polsfuss. Nice guitar too.
Wonder how thick is the Maple top on this LP compared to a present day LP?
I hope Greg has both hands insured because they are priceless! Lol
1:38 holy moly! What was that?
Brian Cullen turururururururuuuirurururururururt

Most treble Les Paul ever- almost unbelievable

That a Rusty Anderson model in the background?
+Krantz I would go out on a limb & say it's a real 59-60 Blonde 335 LOL, what an amazing room that is, i wish i had a friend like that !!, Peace.

It's to tele as - MEATY TELE GLORY.. haha

What amp?
Greg's playing always makes me wanna stop playing! he is such a player!! lol

What's the name of the piece from around 1:08 - 1:30 ?
Did you ever figure out what it was called?
+1 it sounds amazing

that tele sound on early LP is down a lot to the wiring. I've wired my LP copy 50's style it's a more sparkly sound...
holy fuck balls

It depends
@@brettbrandstatt8589 What does that mean?

1:35 WTF!

Look how skinny that neck is damn
The 57 sounded better. Much more alive.
It looks so little compared to greg,
i wish greg would practice up and hone them licks a mite better, lol damn wat cha say abt that felix? is the boy bad or is the boy bad?
Ok. I'm not feeling the Pop that usually comes out of these old guitars. Probably this one hasn't been played much and hence it looks so new.

are you kidding??? I mean, guitars do need to be played...this one sounds played to me....

Greg is a good player but why does he always have this crappy sound? He needs to learn how to dial in an amp.
Very good. But somewhat distasteful in my humble opinion....every video I see he plays this shitty sound fast stuff lol.
