Drums was amatuer hour. Carlos still plays great. I go to the House of Blues in Vegas and see him just about every year. This doesn't do him justice. First time I've seen him without a hat. Guess you have to take your hat off for the Anthem. His wife plays in Vegas with him and does a good job with his songs.
Brenton Salassi well what was so horrible about it? He definitely misplayed some of the notes. But she was almost perfect on the drums. It was much more entertaining than the normal national anthem we see time after time, but nowhere near as weird as fergies rendition. The pair of them sounded pretty good together. Alone her drumming skills were pretty impressive. I was tapping my feet the whole time, even some of the players were rocking out. So again, what was so horrible about it?
Brenton Salassi actually I just looked at your profile and your first upload is a very young cheesy amatuer band playing screamo metal music. Enough said, no need to reply.
joketsu100 Ha! You got me. It’s pretty clear the music was superimposed over the video in my video. In fact they weren’t playing anything in said video. It was a promo for something that is completely unrelated to the subject at hand. I’ll reply anyways. The drumming was probably the best part of the video, but it was also extremely out of place and distracting. Doesn’t matter how good you are if it takes away from the performance at hand. Carlos’ playing was bad. No emotion. Boring arrangement. The guitar tone was horrible. He’s playing an amp that costs thousands of dollars and makes it sound like that? No sustain (not that it mattered since his wife was rushing through the whole thing). Sounds like a Saturday at Guitar Center. Hope this helps.
Yeah, she was good, but they were just OK together. Santana was his usual great self. It could have been better. But hey, God bless America. . .And thank God for basketball! :)
This is what inherently makes America great. Carlos was born and raised in a Mexican Poor family in a very humble town. He was meant to be a Mariachi, somehow he managed to go to the USA in his youth. Then he discover jazz music and he looked the very stretch bond between African music, and Latin music, and develop his ideas into a Rock band. As Mexican I felt confused watching Carlos playing The Star Spangled Banner. I felt he is no longer Mexican anymore... but objectively, he’s doing great. He’s celebrating the country that give him all what he got. In Mexico if somebody play the National Anthem sort different than he is, is considered and offense. Mexico is way too different than USA, because of our mentality, we live in a fantasy created by our governors, and Sadly, I consider Mexico to be miles away than USA. Mexican people doesn’t view the good things, Mexican people always act ‘jelly’ against people who is doing it well... we always said that Mexicans are like a Crabs in a Bucket, always trying to put down the Crab who is the upper end. Anyways, god bless you America.
What the heck was that? You can definitely tell they're married because they weren't listening to each other. He played the star spangle banner, I don't know what she was doing.
I've been listening to and loving Carlos' work for 50 years now -- even played his music in a band or two. But this was dreadful. The tune just doesn't lend itself to this kind of thing IMHO, and it was played without imagination or feeling -- just bashing away like some rudimentary grade school, garage-band. I would have loved to hear them play it in a kind of free jazz style with Cindy setting up a rubato-time (no tempo) wall of sound for Carlos to do his famously beautiful lyrical, melodic soloing over the top -- more of an approach similar to what Jimi Hendrix did at Woodstock. That could have been spectacular. I just watched the version he did a year ago at the 2017 NBA Finals and, while it was better, it was awful too.
We need to find out if the same person who gave the green light to Fergie gave it to these 2. Love this guy but something was wrong with this performance some subtle protest maybe. One of the most melodic and tasteful soloist plays that!!!
Great impression of every kid after 1 month of lessons. Cindy Blackman (nice typo, ABC) is actually an incredible drummer (elsewhere). Was this a protest of some sort? I think they were "kneeling" for the anthem, in some musical way.
Dario Gomez here in the philippines even the singer just change the tune of the last part of the song its already a big deal here lol what more change the whole song
hmmm I really love Santana. But this was......not good at all. But ok, everyone has some off day. He is still a legend. I will not talk about the drums, that is.......
@ Ashlyn, tahkn you. I am not exactly sure why I am a hoe. But if you think so, you are entitled to your opinion. If you mean I am not a fan of Santana, than you have to tak Englis lessons again.
The drums were not needed at all...they were distracting. Just pure Carlos would have been, to me, much more meaningful and emotional. But, how do you question a legend???
Carlos Santana is a Mexican... Now living in The USA.... My question is... Why doesn’t he go and play the Mexican National Anthem over in Mexico? Or better yet...Has he ever played The Mexican National Anthem? Has he ever been invited to do so????
Estados Unidos de norte américa una civilización en decadencia todo es un espectáculo para crear dinero. Entonar las notas del himno nacional de un país debería ser algo sagrado, sobrio, sería y reverente, pero como todo debe ser show que genere dinero todo es permitido.
The legend himself...God bless Carlos Santana.
This was an unforgivable abomination of the country's anthem...pure classless bs
God bless Carlos Santana
My dad was so happy, because he used to love this guy so much and now he’s singing the national anthem!
shredding the national anthem lol
avoqado89 lol ha
12 years old and has been listening to Santana for years
Dope rendition this is what America is about changing you way of thinking rebel
Best Version of the SSB I've ever heard. I loved the drums. She's got "Time".
Thank You!! Carlos and Cindy
A great performance from two great musicians. USA!
I can not speak for anyone else.. But that was off the chain... I know Shit Is good when my children stopped and listened to it...
Legend sharing his love & light with his Soul mate~ One Love~ Awesome ✨🙌🏽🙏🏽❤️🔥🌈✌🏽✨
Wow the drums killed it. Carlos did great.
Drums caught me off guard lol
Ram M lol I think that girl is at the wrong gig

Would have been better without the drums tbh
C Houli thank you so much I couldn't of said it better myself
Agreed or maybe a slower tempo, she was going ham on them
Ya true that. Drums were stupid. Wudeva
Would have been better with a hat
I agree, it sounds like a DnB style anthem. Should have done it solo like Jimi.
Cindy and Carlos are so boss! For those that don't recognize her, she was Lenny Kravitz drummer. She had the huge fro in the 90s. This was fun.
Christina Radiant yesss. Someone that isn't a stupid child. They are both legends. This was great.
If hating it means I'm a stupid child then count me in. Legends or not, it was horrible.

nice! Santana the living legend
At least it's better than fergie's
Still in 4/4 but his wife's like "Let's get on with it!"
Yeah, she was good, but they were just OK together. Santana was his usual great self. It could have been better. But hey, God bless America. . .And thank God for basketball! :)
Real Talk Industries then again smashing your head against the pavement and leaving a bloody mess is better than that
Real Talk Industries 😂😂😂😂
"Santana was his usual great self." Santana was horrible as well.
Should be without drums, but waaaaay better than Fergie's.

Beautiful enough said❤️
Lots of love from Africa 🙏❤❤

Shouldn’t have just used the guitar only like Jimi Hendrix.
Javi Garcia Hes done that
The Fight Stop but there were drums
Carlos Santana ♥ Legend ♥ Respect! \m/
I laughed my ass off when she started to go brute savage on the drums.
She’s obviously a real good drummer - she can play - and he’s the man. What a pair 👏👏
Wow of the best I've ever heard, I love American National Anthem. God Bless America my favorite country. From Dominican Republic
The best? You must be fucking def
TreyCo Machinery edgy kid alert
Is this the only one you've ever heard?
I'm def after that drum garbage. O and fuck you you piece of shit
Best I heard so far
They should’ve let JR “Henny” Smith sing the national anthem while he’s off the henny
Vince McMahon no contract offer?
A black and latino playing The United States national anthem. This is America.
The Fight Stop Dont catch you slipping now
He's Mexican dumbass get it right.
El Mentado Mexican american to be exact
All U.S. citizens are immigrants except the natives.
a white dude paying for it
Hey, I recognize that exact sound from me and my friends band in junior high school!!! ;-)
As far as as national anthems go... i like it!
Legend
Great job Mr & Mrs Santana!!!
Very good!!
Wife was drumming too fast.
What the heck was that? You can definitely tell they're married because they weren't listening to each other. He played the star spangle banner, I don't know what she was doing.
Drums a little too busy there, but add good punctuation at the end. Santana still killing it!
Damn. They killed it !
Yes the killed it alright...as in murdered and dismembered it for all so see and hear!!! Phewy...what a shame!!!
She killin them drums
Better than Fergie
SWEET
Santana is a Lebron fan! !!!!!! Yes!!!!!!!
Great job Carlos, Bay Area legend. Kids this is what a guitar and a great guitar player sounds like.
That was not.........smooth.
Brad Holmes Frill tho

the best. one more time.
Drummer having a "That thing you do" moment lol. I dig it tho
Carlos come back one last time to Oracle. Pls!!! Let's shut it down. 2019 GSW
A legend
Should have had Bay Area legend William Hung sing the national anthem.
fixpacifica he’s from the bay ?
Lmao
We need to find out if the same person who gave the green light to Fergie gave it to these 2. Love this guy but something was wrong with this performance some subtle protest maybe. One of the most melodic and tasteful soloist plays that!!!
I love it when He is announce as a native of the bay area🤣
He is…he got his career started there as a teenager.
Did they actually think the drums sounded good? Mitch Mitchell played drums during Hendrix’s woodstock rendition but he did it with finess
Carlos was trying to uplift with this. Carlos is all about respect, it was a risk but how do you know you can't fly if you don't jump
Best National Anthem ever
Great impression of every kid after 1 month of lessons. Cindy Blackman (nice typo, ABC) is actually an incredible drummer (elsewhere). Was this a protest of some sort? I think they were "kneeling" for the anthem, in some musical way.
If you do that to the philippine national anthem you will be in jail 😂🤣
GR RR good thing the US hasn't gotten to that, yet.
Dario Gomez here in the philippines even the singer just change the tune of the last part of the song its already a big deal here lol what more change the whole song
Can you imagine in this point in time....JIMI doing his Vietnam War Woodstock Version.....
hmmm I really love Santana. But this was......not good at all. But ok, everyone has some off day. He is still a legend. I will not talk about the drums, that is.......
yes and yes
yall stay criticizing a 70-year-old legend. Obviously, he will not perform at a high outstanding rate with the age he is at right now.
Oh he still does. He gets it on at the house of blues in Vegas
I know but at this age, you cant expect an executed performance every single time.
Carlos..put on a hat dude! ;)
If he promises to put the hat on and keep it on, we can start over and pretend this never happened.
Carlos Santana is a Mexican... Now living in The USA.... My question is... Why doesn’t he go and play the Mexican National Anthem over in Mexico?
Or better yet...Has he ever played The Mexican National Anthem?
Has he ever been invited to do so????
*_yes_*
She killed it on the drums for real
That drummer is a nightmare
When a man wears a hat HE’S BALD! Oye Carlos, que paso con tu cabeza? 🧑🏽🦲
Warriors were rockin' with it! Cavs were like WTF???
Love this Carlos when America was somewhat normal
Bad-ass !
Visit beautiful peaceful world
I guess The Grateful Dead (what's left of them anyway) opened for Game 1 then?
Hey it wasn't jimmy version but nobody can ever top jimmy PERIOD
Draymond at 1:15 😂😂 like he’s kinda fucking with it but wants Drake
HEY 🥰 E KE PASSA!!
Best national anthem ever along with jimmy Hendrix
Sin palabras
I dont know how can he performed like that....
Well that's something new
Love u carlos... But put that hat back on...
Chunky and funky
Estados Unidos de norte américa una civilización en decadencia todo es un espectáculo para crear dinero. Entonar las notas del himno nacional de un país debería ser algo sagrado, sobrio, sería y reverente, pero como todo debe ser show que genere dinero todo es permitido.
now i know why Santana always wear hat lately
That's the bay area vibe. but the drum was a bit too much.. Carlos was on fire as usual.
The drums make it sound cheesy.
But Santana sounds awesome!
None of you young ones don't know good music when you hear it. It's because your ears are full of Gummo..
Solo One whatever you say old head. Not everybody has the same taste of music like you
they don't know about the black magic woman not an old head btw 19
Exactly, had no idea Santana was married to Kenny Kravitz drummer! I loved it.
6IX9INE>>this old guitar playing bum
I know good music. Carlos Santana has made plenty of it. This was garbage.
Yo the drums. STOP!
Wouldn’t hurt to be on a metronome once in a while.....
The red and white stripes!
this was dope as fuck
Yes without drums and ask audience to sing along
Nice
Beg pardon..?
Just the guitar next time no speed drums
Exlnte
Bay area native???wrong he was born in the Mexican state if Jalisco🇲🇽
He’s a proud Mexican but he did get his professional musical start in the Bay Area. That’s why they consider him a native.
It was good but without the drums it would have been amazing
The next thing you know a heavy metal band will be playing the national anthem xD
Next time they should invite just the drummer.
Sad to watch, but in the end, it looked like he was pretty happy.
The spaz on the drums ruined it for me.
jeez she's 58? black dont crack alright lmao
Fergie doing game 3 😂😂 would y’all like to hear her do it twice
