It's cool to note the parallels between this episode and the last one. Episode 3 showed us the dangers of religion, this episode shows the dangers of science (alchemy).
Henrique Lino Pacheco its not the first though! Inuyasha was written by Rumiko Takahashi 5 years prior to FMA. (Sorry I just had to point it out! Both series are good, though I’m biased towards FMA haha)
Someone on RUclips once claimed that Arakawa wrote this story because she got fan letters expressing how they wished alchemy was real, and she wanted to demonstrate the monstrous kind of thing it could be used for if it was a thing like in FMA. I can’t verify if this is true, and it was an early chapter with Arakawa having planned out the overall story before she started drawing and writing... but if she DID, I could believe it is the kind of thing she WOULD do.
Definitely, not the same. In Ed and Al's mind, they wanted to bring their mother back. In their mind, no body was going to get hurt. Shou Tucker knew full well what was going to happen. He wanted to created a chimera out of his own daughter and the dog. He knew the exact outcome and he wanted that outcome too. Had Ed and Al knew that human transmutation can never be successful and would cause major damages, they would have never done it. So the intentions are very different. That being said, I think what Shou Tucker may have meant is that they all broke the taboos. They both did what is not supposed to be done. This part is true.
I mean, Tucker was definitely trying to equate both of their sins. He was trying to make the point that what he did wasn't an absolutely horrific act. For Ed's part, while I agree that the brothers' sin was far less, and born out of an innocent desire, I think Ed knew they were pushing into territory they shouldn't. And Tucker's words struck a nerve because Ed is afraid that Tucker wasn't wrong.
@@WhatKindOfNameNow Excellent point about it did struck a nerve on Ed. I also agree that Ed knew he shouldn't have done. I just think he didn't know the extend of the actions, whereas Tucker knew what he was getting into. What I actually agree is what Mustang has said. Despite the horrific things Tucker has done, is it really worse than the military has done (killing far more innocent lives).
@@Chemicalkinetics Oh yeah, I don't think Ed knew what would actually happen. Really, I think what makes him fear Tucker being correct the most is that he, in hindsight, recognizes that all the signs were in front of him, but he pushed on anyway, thinking that he had cracked the riddle of human transmutation. He's afraid that his motivation wasn't what he claims it was. But, that's exactly what Tucker was trying to do. To equate himself and Ed, despite there being a large difference between them.
I honestly don't see the point of pretending 🤷 even when we know some things about the story beforehand, doesn't mean we can't discuss it in length together after ;)
The fact that you got it right that the guy in the op is the brothers father but younger in just the 4th episode and I found out after I finished the anime from a random post in pinterest is just hilarious🤣🤣🤣 Also love your reactions 💗
The only word I can use to describe the entire end of the episode is disturbing. It was insanely disturbing. The chimera was too animal to be human but, too human to be considered animal. The voice and words were eerily child-like, reminding us that it was Nina who was sacrificed, a little girl who the audience had established a relationship with. I think we find it so disturbing bc in real life, we KNOW that human experimentation is unethical and doing something on this level is just plain evil and a blatant disregard to life. We also already know the horrors of human transmutation from episode 2 so, we’re left to our imaginations when it comes to what Shou Tucker would have done to Nina and Alexander in order to even create that abomination. I watched FMA originally and the this whole episode was a lot more intense and dark than in FMA:B. I’m very glad you guys don’t have to experience that trauma. 😭
I definitely liked Tucker's speech better in FMA. The same lines about "toying with lives" are cutting enough, but the additional bit about his reasons.... gods, it made it so much worse.
I just recognize Mob Psycho 100 have the same thing. First couple episodes like okay, kinda cute. And at 4-5 episode story just put some glass in your eyes. And it's you have no idea, that it will be MUCH MORE GLASS
@@kyuujinreacts It is a good suffer. And much more insane perfect animation and story. You will absolutely in love with it, guaranteed! :DD I will wait for it (after another, FMAB masterpiece, of course)
XII Lmao why do you hate the dub so much? Literally like 95% of the community agrees that the dub is at least on par with the sub, so im just curious why you dont like it.
Seph irotH the majority including me would have to disagree. I watched alooot of fmab reactions and all i see in the comment section is the dub is better
Yeah, when scar say 2 souls are comming to god, he means Nina and the dog
yea but the dub fucked it up by saying 2 humans souls

I really like how this show presents things as neither black or white! Everything is grey, even the main characters ;)

@@Psychoinnocent Thanks for correcting me. I was really wrong. Another work from her was Ranma 1/2 which is even older than Inuyasha.
"God, today two souls have returned to you", he means Alexander and Nina, Tucker isn´t included
R.A.F GattaiGuy yeah in the manga he went to hell and Nina and Alexander went to heaven
The official welcome to FMA:B
Yeah xD it feels like a slap to the face!! (Or rather a punch!!)
Feels metal alchemist

He didn't kill his wife, his wife knew what she was and that she was stuck like that for the rest of her life so she stopped eating
cows say moo
pigs say oink
cats say meow
dogs say Ed...ward...
Uuuuuuggh I'm gonna have nightmares about that thing!!
Can't believe you said that 😫😫😫😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
You know that was Canon when this anime on its hey day
@@alficammy6159 it still kinda is for the people reacting to it for the first time now. it's like reliving my childhood
I like that you don't pretend to react for the first time to stuff you already know. Genuine reactions are the best!

Episode 4 and so far, your commentaries and insights are so good! I'm such a fan. Binge-watching this playlist. :D
I prefer this story in first FMA. There Tucker doesnot end this way.
We'll have to check out FMA 03 after we're done with brotherhood ;) Anyway, I was wondering how the ending was different
I didn't like what they did with Tucker in fma tbh especially his...."form"
I definitely liked Tucker's speech better in FMA. The same lines about "toying with lives" are cutting enough, but the additional bit about his reasons.... gods, it made it so much worse.
Cet épisode pose la question aux frères jusqu'où vont-ils aller pour récupérer leur corps ? C'est un retour à la réalité pour eux je pense.

Ooh I heard about Mob Psycho!! I'll have to check it out 😅 we seem to enjoy shows that make us suffer!!

There are two shows from this anime the first one is Fullmetal alchemist, there Tucker has other reasons from niña and She is dead
Pls do NOT google images "dog in a wig fma" NOR "Nina & Alexander fusion dance"
Alright!! Staying away from that ;)
You guys should watch the English dub it’s actually one of the best one’s.
Juan Hernandez agreed. One of the very few anime were the dub is much better
Yeah I think Fmab has one of best dub anime and I prefer the dub version than sub cause the dub VA is really on top notch
Thank god they didn't watch it in dub lol

You know in manga after every sad story there is last page where people soul going to haven the only soul which goes to hell is shao tucker soul
Yes someone told me! I'm so glad that monster is going to hell! He does not deserve to go to the same place his daughter and her dog went T.T
The first dog girl in anime. :D
I still see cosplayers dressing up as her in conventions and everytime, people end up sad and angry xD
Give thumbs if this was in ur recommends
Great reaction. Yall should try out the dub also, its actually better than the sub to 95% of people
Thank you!! :D we already decided we would try the dub for episode 11 ;) we'll see then which we prefer
Not better, it's almost as good

3:04, i cant wait until way further in the series!
The dub is great on this one!
As soon as yall watch this in dub you'll have my support 👍 but the sub sucks so yeah
