When you keep implementing trickle down economics but try to throw a progressive screw in there, it kind of breaks the system. The stock market is now crashing cuz people are actually making a tiny bit more money. If you put enough money in people's pockets, then they can actually buy things and stimulate the economy. Amazing concept, isn't it?

silly socialists..... its so funny to hear you think out loud you liberal fucks...... obvious the social studies they spread in colleges today is liberally biased to the common worker and not to the people who actually OWN the businesses that hire the employees and pay the wages for STARTING LEVEL EMPLOYEES....so fucking adults take high school jobs.....and expect adult wages......and most are probably illegal aliens..... working at in n out, flippin burgers

    • @elizabethkelley5260
      @elizabethkelley5260 6 лет назад

Inquire98 So are you saying I said you are sick and everyone who feels like you is sick too? I don't get your point because your writing and thinking is equally convoluted. I did say your ideas are sick because you try to justify your lack of empathy with law.We are not governed by law alone but also by common decency and the Golden rule. This may not mean much to you or the business owners who like to have scores of minimum wage employees to operate their businesses, paying them a trifle salary while also deducting a percentage of their tips to pay other employees. It has grown increasingly difficult to regulate a system which is unregulated by nature. No one knows how much in tips they will earn or how much in tips they will pay out.Certainly if tipping is done away with by law, many aspects of food service will change and minimum wage will not encourage better,or more personal service. Food service cannot be compared to other jobs which receive a decent paycheck because it is personal and transitory, fluctuating and unstable. Waitstaff are at the mercy of their guests, who sit at their allotted tables and take time and space for what the waiter hopes and prays will be equitable recompense. To deny them a gratuity is to effect, laugh in their faces. If this makes you feel righteous,I refer you to the Golden Rule,Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You.

I disagree with your comment, but thank God for freedom of speech, first amendment. I've seen in fast food restaurants people in their 30's and 40's and their 50's working there, some that I've spoken to even have two jobs just trying to get by. Everything keeps on going up except the wages, do your research and you'll find out that I'm right.

If your only qualification is restaurant work, then demanding an increase from an employer because of that is ludicrous. Why should an employer pay a person more than their job is worth because the employee failed to prepare for life.
I have granddaughters in college working part-time in restaurants who see that first hand: people in their 40's and 50's who have no training, no work experience other than restaurant work. One granddaughter said it is great motivation to do well in college.
One of my sons managed a restaurant and constantly complained about drug problems and absentee issues. He went back to school and is now a software engineer. He believes that many lack the drive to do anything more.

I purchased an existing family resturant that had been in business at the same location for 15 years. And not only kept the 10 employee's, five of which were full time consisting of 40 and sometimes more, and five were part time which worked 20 to 30 hours per week. Having worked in the industry for 10 years prior to my purchase, gave them all an 8 percent raise to off set the mandatory 8 percent the IRS automatically adds to service industry gross wages. EVERY ONE WAS HAPPY.
Like any and all business's, my resturant had a fixed square footage available for usage. And a certain percentage of it was taken up by two restrooms, one for males, one for females. However, five years into my endevor, the law changed and I was required to install another restroom for those that couldn't based on their feelings, deceide if they were male or female. Thus I was forced to either give up valuable square footage for dining purpose by converting the two into one restrooms into what was referred to as a unisex, with a locking door. Thus anyone regardless of their feeling or actual gender could use it. OR, eliminating them entirely. I chose the later, which gave me additional square footage to add three more dining table and in the process hire an additonal employee, and making one of the part time, full time. EVERY ONE WAS HAPPY.
Jumping ahead 5 additonal years, Obama's administration mandated I pay additional mandatory health bennifits. Thus I was forced to force everyone into a maximum of a part time status by cutting there hours to no more than 35. Not having to pay the additonal mandated insurance and cutting their hours to 35, allowed me to increase their wages. Thus one made the same in 35 as they use to in 40. EVERY ONE WAS HAPPY, especilally the ones whom were part time to begin with. Now I'm being mandated into incrasing their pay almost 25 percent to keep legal. My square footage is still fixed, I've increased the number of employee's, and though decrease the number of hours, increased thier pay so they experience an actual gain not a loss. This new system, has caused me to either raise prices or cut back on the number of employee's. It's unfortunate, but I was forced to do the latter. I cut the one I had hired when eliminating the restrooms. And now I'm back to my original 10. Yes the cut employee isn't happy, but the other 10 are estactic. And though they fell sorry for their previous fellow worker. They have their own concerns. And when push comes to shove, EVERY ONE IS HAPPY. Tis ironic, that one cannot see the forest because of all the dam trees in the way.
On a good note, I've managed to make enough money to purchase the adjacent building which will double my square footage. And the first person I'll hire is the one I was forced to let go. Had I raised my prices rather than let an employee go, I'd could have not be as competited with the other resturants. Thus not be in the position to expand and hire additonal employee's.
I learned at a very earily age that it ok to want something but one must be careful of what it is they want, because sometimes they will actualy get it. Hence all those demanding an assinine increase in the minimim wage, have gotten what they wanted, and now have to pay the consequences.

People work hard to create savings, people take birth control, people realize that others will not pay their way. People, make the world what it is. You can be born on welfare and then you can become a millionaire or billionaire. Nothing can stop you. BUT, YOU have to put in the WORK effort to make it so. 'Business owners( which you are not one)'

'business to make money, not to make friends.'
      Wrong on both counts.
Webster's dictionary defines a friend as one that favours or promotes something; an employee favours his company with loyalty, a customer favours it with business, and an owner favours them with quality and protection. Business is the art of human relationships, 'Friendship'.

You aren't supposed to be able to support a family on them, you're supposed to have enough to barely take care of yourself. Low minimum wage puts pressure on people to improve themselves to make more of themselves, and leave that job to the next teen who needs gas money for the weekend.

    • @BmoreIrish
      @BmoreIrish 6 лет назад +6

Wanda Roderick - doesn’t work that way. When you lift the lowest wages, it pushes up everyone’s. The roofer gets a raise as well, because well... who would be a roofer when they could work at McDs for the same wage. The roofing company has to be competitive. And before you say it just causes inflation, I’ll head you off at the pass. There isn’t a direct 1:1 correlation between increasing wages and increasing overall cost of goods and services as labor is only a portion of overall cost. This means that the buying power of everyone who receives an in-kind raise has their buying power increased.

Another thing wages are operating in the free market which means the employee voluntarily agreed to that wage for the job. So if the employer wanted to attract the talent that was needed to complete the job they would either need to raise their wages if the talent pool wasn't available or lower it if there was an oversupply of talent. That is the law of supply and demand. It is a fault of our own government for stealing from those who have to give to those who don't.

I understand that spreading the cut over thousands of employees see less of an impact compared to a few hundred execs but it would be a tremendous symbol to do so. People forget that capitalism was much more raw and unregulated at the turn of the 20th century and we almost lost it to communism. @bigearsarecutejamesallen4766 6 лет назад +2

Immanuel Herman No, those execs did nothing different. The tax cuts were always going to go to the executives. They were never going to go towards creating more jobs or paying the employees more. That's not how it works. It has never worked that way. Employers only employ as many people as they need, and they pay them as little as they can to keep them.

    • @ihl0700677525
      @ihl0700677525 6 лет назад +5

BigEarsAreCute James Allen Look, I have my own small business, and I certainly will never give any of my employees bonus if they don't make me more money that warrant me to do such action. No stakeholders want to share their profit to execs who don't perform.
Ofc, there are some exceptions, like tax evasion, where you can make arrangement to temporarily store/park company money on your employees account and write it off as 'bonus'.
It can save you quite amount of profit from tax.
But it's not really a bonus, and execs are usually not stupid enough to agree on this because they may have to report this as their asset (which may increase their own tax) and may have to explain how they got it, and why it's suddenly gone now.

Go to these restaurants now. Look at the age's of folks. It used to be "young"...now I see freaking 80 year old's flipping burgers. Why? Mainly...living costs. They don't need to raise the wages...they need to lower the pricing. Alas, the USA's fanatical devotion to the corporate/consumer 'free market' will never see anything that fixes this.
You hear these business owners bitching about how they now have to 'fire folks and turn to robots'. Really? Care to put your money where your mouth is and show/release your profits for the last 5 years? No? Huh...I wonder why. Ohhh...riiightttt... because if you did that then everyone would see that, yes, you *could* afford to keep everyone and pay them $15/hr...but then your profits drop down to just 1 new house and 1 new lambo per year (not the 3 new houses and 4 new lambo's).
I'm not saying people who work to increase their businesses shouldn't get what they deserve. I'm saying that maybe there needs to be an incentive to pay their workers more. Say...a nice tax break that they can claim if they are paying their part time workers X amount per hour and their full time workers Y amount per hour...contrasted with how much they are paying their CEO's/bosses (e.g., the more a CEO/Boss gets, the less they can write off).
Something like that. There's GOT to be a better way than drastically increasing the minimum wage and firing people!

Actually the free market does do this. The reason it isn't right now is it is over-regulated, making competition difficult. Cause that's how prices lower and wages raise naturally, because you're competing with other businesses. Because there's a LOT of unnecessary regulations in business competition isn't cropping up. Therefore those things aren't improving. A lot of problems in America would be fixed if we deregulated a bit.

You don't pay them because they need it, you pay them because YOU need it...
Because if you are paying for THEIR time, THEY decide how much their work is worth, not you...
If that is true, they would not have to use the government to browbeat people to accept their demands...
No, you started a business to make YOURSELF successful...
Their prosperity is just a consequence of your success...
It is very hard to believe, that you made all that effort in business just to increase your secretary's salart by a couple hundred bucks..

Thankfull Friend Actually, most people will now get paid nothing as entry-level and unskilled jobs disappear. They've cut the first few rungs off the economic ladder making it forever unreachable by people starting at the bottom. Expect large increases in unemployment and poverty levels. Established businesses will also suffer in the short term but then they will adapt, however certain jobs will disappear permanently as these businesses are forced to operate differently. Also be prepared to pay more for products and services that support those at the bottom. Also, startups will not be able to afford the labor they need. Less opportunity, less production, higher market prices.

Remember of course if that place has to pay the10 people on lunch shift $4 an hour more, that is $40 just that one and each hour of the day they have to raise their prices to be even again. Sell 40 Burgers that one hour? Raise price $1 each to be even. Sell 80? 50 cents each. If a place has 100 hours of labor for the whole day, they need $400 every day more in the register to break even. They gotta sell 400 burgers every single day. But the price went up a dollar and some people aren't buying burgers anymore because they are damn too high priced. Now the place is actually selling less burgers and doesn't need 10 on lunch shift anymore to cover business. They can get by with 8 that will work harder because, hey, they make $12 an hour now. Now 2 people make $0 an hour because they got let go. They wont be buying any burgers from anyone. Is that acceptable? Will the Asst Mgr on shift demand they get $4 more per hour like everybody else got? You would of course. Those 3 Asst Mgrs just cost the place $120 each more per week in payroll. Gotta sell lots more burgers or raise the price another dollar.

Chris Broughton you obviously don't know basic economics. $15.00 per hour labor cost = cost past on to consumer = consumer pays more. Your pay check have increased but your standard of living goes down. Why you ask? Labor cost = past on to consumer = consumer pays more ie. you pay more for the same product/service you used to pay less for. BASIC economics

It also means all products they buy in the state or province have that increased wages have handed that added to their product prices.
20% wage increase = more income taxes taken = more sales taxes taken (cause products cost more)
It is a big fat tax grab & unemployment scheme.

    • @ralphbernhard1757

That might be an attitude which is valid in times of a labor demand.
For example, the industrial boom years following ww2.
In times like today, with automation, global trade, robotics, etc., there is a surplus of underemployed laborers.
      This will result in exploitation.
Pretty soon, you'll see people "willing" to work for 3 bucks an hour, and live in tent cities (like 2009/2010) , because there are 20 other people ALSO willing to work for 3 bucks an hour.
Your idea that a undersupply of labor (for example by throwing out 11 million immigrants), will lead to higher wages is bull. The more employers have to pay, the more they will embrace automation, robot technology, or online business.
If you see a rapid decline of a "surplus" of labor, hourly wages will spike to 25, then 20, then 30 dollars an hour.
THAT is when companies will start laying off, and automating processes....
The average laborer will then have NOTHING, not even a 3 dollar per hour job.

People just don't realize that increasing minimum wage does not create more jobs or get people out of poverty, it does the opposite. If employers are forced to pay staff more, then they got to ether cut hours, cut staff, rise prices of products, or just close the doors altogether.

If you took ALL the pay of the executives it would raise the rank and file employees wage a few pennies an hour. Why should an unskilled laborer get paid huge money? If I want more money I learn new job skills and get a new job. I started out as a bus boy and now I am a highly skilled and highly paid technician. If I can do it than anyone can.

Some people demand a rise in the minimum wage just so that they can pay the taxes and catch up with the high cost of living, but with such rise, employers would hire fewer people, manufacturing jobs would be sent to other countries and the prices of products and services would rise.
It's such a shame that many people, including politicians, lack comprehension on the economy.
