Sketching with Grey Fineliner - Drawing a Lake District Farm

In this demonstration I'm Sketching this Lake District farm with grey fineliner pens. Unusually for me I do not colour the image after it has been sketched.
I talk about values in the drawing and chat through my approach as I construct and work through the sketch.

Slowly working my way through your videos and thoroughly enjoying them. Loved watching you do this and hope one day to be able to draw like this myself. I tend to get to uptight about the drawing being totally accurate which is pointless as I could never achieve perfection anyway. Hi Doug, always interested to see this subject. I've lived in places like this in North Wales and I do now in The People's Republic. The stone buildings and walls often feel challenging and I like your treatment of them without getting too busy. I prefer the grey pens to the black and have added some fairly recently to my arsenal. I enjoyed this and it would be nice to see some colour added to it, maybe in another video. If you're going to the light show at the Satanical Gardens, 😉I'd love to see a sketch of that! - Pabi 💖

Thanks Pabi. Yes it's intresting just how little texture you need to tell the story of a surface. It's also a tale that the paint can tell as well as the lines. One of the reason I love creating art is that every time I sit down I can learn and play and experiment. Have a great festive time.
