Welcome back to my tierlists! Next we are covering water types! I plan on covering all the typings (or until the algorithm gets sick of it), so I hope you stick around.
Like I always say, I am looking to expand our conversations and bridge gaps in fandoms, so please suggest other games! I already have a list of some interesting intellectual properties to cover.

Relecanth is like the grandpa that takes the girliepops to the mall and they have a whole bratz fantasy while he takes a nap in the food court. We love him for that and he loves the girlies. Very wholesome moment.

I see the vision, but I do have to raise you that he is the grandpa who gets _involved_ with the girlypops. They come down from the slumber party and pulls him from whatever to do his make up and he is there for it start to finish.

I feel like Psyduck really deserves AT LEAST girliepop for it's anime portrayal. Because there is nothing more girliepop than a cute lil dumdum who alternates between making every situation worse or absolutely wiping the floor with the enemy, before waltzing off all cute like they don't even know what they did. Like Misty's Psyduck took 942 episodes to use water gun properly, they need a pool floatie because they can't swim, but they also flung a crane over the horizon because they had a headache. It's just... perfection.
If only that was transferred in game. Can you imagine an Eviolite Psyduck that’s viable? That would be top tier

the fandom always treats the more ‘feminine’ starters so bad!!! meganium (yes, i know her moveset sucks, idc, she’s cute!!), delphox and primarina all deserve so much better! i’m glad meowscarada wasn’t received as poorly but i will never get how people genuinely like the silly overly ‘masculine’ starters like greninja and incineroar but hate on the dolls for serving cvnt!

I vividly remember when Popplio was revealed to be a starter, EVERYONE was making fun of her. Everybody was saying that she couldn't compete with Litten and Rowlet and then when Primarina was revealed, all of a sudden people were like "I LOVED POPPLIO FROM THE START".

Bruxish will forever be iconic just for the fact she makes so many people mad, many say shes ugly because of the lips or the teeth but honestly if she just had one of those or neither of them she would look very bland
Her concept is really unique too with the whole psychedelic look that justifies her psychic typing and recently I saw a fanmade evolution that turned her into a mermaid and it really made me understand her concept more because mermaids make themselves beautiful through illusions to attract humans, just like bruxish does with her psychic powers, which is also where her little flower comes in play, so she's not supposed to be 100% pretty like the other girls, she also needs to look a bit fierce/scary
(Just went back and saw the fanmade evolution and the actual evolution is a scary looking angler fish but the mermaid is the illusion it creates, using that concept of real mermaids being ugly/scary and are just beautiful through illusions)

@@magicallabbiata Exactly, I think there needs to be a middle point where both of them can coexist and do their own thing, like sure make Mega Charizard Z for the money and for the straights but also give an evolution, a regional, a mega or something to pokemon like Bruxish, Meganium, etc.
It really feels like the tides are changing specially in the latest generation with two of the starters being girlypop, and several other pokemon like Espathra, Enamorus, Oinkologne

honestly I always ADORED Gorebyss because of how it looks sweet & unassuming form the surface but if you take a look at her Pokedex entries you find out that she's a bloodsucking monster and probably one of the more horrifying pokemon out there.

Yesss, thank you for recognizing Mareanie and Toxapex as girlypop!!! I think this aesthetic is valid for girlypop too. Also, Mantine would be okay for me, as a kid she was there for me when there weren't many girlypop mons and I remember Molly from the Entei movie had a Mantine when fighting Misty and her team was entirely girlypop clones from real Pokémon, so I think she feels complementary for a girlypop team to me.

primarina will always be special to me. they wanted a fairy type starter at the time since it was new and gave us HER. i feel so represented by primarina + fairy types and i love how she and sylveon really solidified what they wanted the type to be. i hope they give us even more fairy/mother starters to represent us and spite everyone that hates on the dolls !

No no no no NO, Pokemon Sapphire gets plenty of attention from manlypop/Bara fans, especially in Oras the entire Team Aqua is all Muscle and aggressive Pirates and Shelly is the baddest bxtch in town. Pokemon Ruby is literally a bunch of nerds and the only cool one in Team Magma is Courtney.. I think Pokemon Sapphire appeals so well to boys too, there was even a meme i remember from back in 2014 where someone renamed them "Yaoi Ruby and Bara Sapphire" because Team Aqua AND Kyogre embody Masculine energy. I honestly think people might've called it that because the Manlyness it embodies is elegant and swift and fun, and not boring and toxic masculinity like they wish we were. Pokemon Sapphire is also masculine, but its a Queer, exotic masculinity that no straight person could ever understand.

This was a really neat video! I had not heard of girlypop before, and I don't think its my aesthetic, but i think i understand it now because of how well you explained your thoughts. I think its so cool that Pokemon can have these different appeals, and be seen through different lenses. All of your rankings made sense, and i appreciate how you didn't talk down on Pokemon for not being girlypop, even suggesting other vibes for them, and always trying to see the best in them.
btw, despite most of my favorites being "skip", I've always liked Bruxish, but didn't have the vocabulary to explain why. So, thanks for that! She is mother.

My main team is comprised of 5 mother-tier fairy types and then a single seismitoad. Her name is Toaditha and she is a beloved member that balances out the team :D (Fun fact: In the shield Pokédex entry it is revealed that seismitoad’s vibrations are used for therapeutic purposes for the elderly. Gotta love a caring girlie who helps muscles and circulation)
For anyone curious, my team is (gen 8):
-Clefairy (main Pokémon)
-Primarina
-Sylveon
-Gardevoir
-Mimikiyu
-Seismitoad
I usually do fairy only teams with maybe a psychic or 2 (Munna is a common addition) but idk I just love my weird toad gal. It’s not even a case of catching a tympole and sticking with it, I caught it fully evolved.
Shellos and Gastrodon in mother tier is so real... They are the beach girl squishies bringing cute, round and curvy to the table.
Gastrodon is a reliable queen, she'll always stay healthy and hydrated and she's so ready to protect her fire type girlies... We WORSHIP 🤎

9:01 i’ve talked about this before and no one sees or gets it. there are 2 versions of every game the warm game “for the boys” and cool game “for the girls” and their respective box art legend also falls into those categories too (with one/two exceptions):
-warm game (for the boys): gold, ruby, platinum, white, y, sun, shield, and scarlet
-cool game (for the girls): silver, sapphire, diamond, black, x, moon, sword, and violet
Pyukumuku deserves girlypop status because of its signature Innards Out ability, which not only serves creepy/cute/gross-core but is the Pokemon equivalent of a wig reveal. It even shoots its guts out in the shape of a fist, which is so camp.
