    In example 2, two moles of water are produced, so, going by the definition, I would have thought that the value of the enthalpy change would have doubled.

      Think about the ionic equation though. It cancels down to the same as the first one. Yes the enthalpy change of reaction would be double BUT the enthalpy change of neutralisation will still be -57. Hope that makes sense
