Fwiw, just in case you don't have a medium-size fortune to spend on a boat, we were able to get our '98 MasterCraft to produce a pretty decent wave with the help of a wake shaper plus taking it right up to the weight limit with ballast and people. Ballast is really the most important thing. If you don't have a big enough wake, you're going to have a tiny to nonexistent sweet spot depending on your board and how much you weigh. I thought only my small nephews could wake surf behind our boat and at 200 lbs I'd never be able to drop the rope, but a large ballast bag made all the difference, and we all had a blast this past weekend.

@@andreasprotopapas3626 interesting question. Surfing for a long period of time wouldn't make someone a professional. A girl just road for over eight hours straight. To become a professional you need to be very very good. Winning contests is one of the fastest ways of getting there.
@@Shaun.Murray wow 8 hours straight! Insane! The first time i did wakesurf i road for 45sec. Butwith practice I will be able to ride a wave for as much time as I want! What is your personal high score?

Jeff Anderson a lot depends upon the size of the wave, size of the rider and the board.
The bigger the person, a bigger wave and board are needed.
We use a 1989 Sunsetter. We did have to buy fat sacks (water sacks that weigh the boat down and contribute to the wave) and a wave maker (a suction cup attachment on the side of the boat that displaces water to make a wave.) So the back of our boat can get cluttered between the three sacks, water cooler, passengers and etc, but we make it work just fine! So yeah, it's definitely doable!!

For sure. But I believe you also asked about a jetski. The jetski doesn't put out a wave big enough to surf w out a rope but you can carve around w the rope in hand.

About 9 or 10 mph
One can also safely wake surf behind a Jet Boat...in fact those are the safest boats to surf behind. And, flat brim hats are awful.
Awesome to hear about the jet boat. The more people on the water, the better. Haven't seen a surf wave behind a jet boat but would love to see a good wave from one. I hear ya on flat brims...but I still wear em sometimes. Sometimes:)

@@georgeconnolly3365 You don't know about the McRib? First off, I don't eat them, but it's a specialty item from McDonald's that isn't always on the menu. It's also something that Jack Osborne (Ozzy's son) shared that he's really into em.

These boats cost way too much money not everybody is going to have this boat lol I have to ride behind a jet ski lol that’s the best we got
You're right that not everyone can afford these boats but I totally encourage you to ride behind what you have. You can have a great time behind your pwc!
We set up out 1998 Sport Nautique with Fat Sac's and a homemade wake shaper and are having a great time wake surfing.

Great instructional video, but I've got to ask... Did you get up in the morning, put that hat on your head and say, "Oh yeah, this looks so good on me..." Cause is makes your head look like its been shrunken by an African witch doctor... Finally, no one alive, under the age of 60 used a wooden tennis racket or even knows what they are. Find another analogy that peeps can relate to. Keep up the good work.
