She holds the Record for the Longest Female Soap Opera Actress in US History and the longest Male Soap Opera Star may be Don Hastings but in the UK it's William Roache who has played Ken Barlow on Coronation St, since it's First Episode on December 9th 1960. If Helen Wagner was British she would have been given The Order Of The British Empire for Outstanding Contribution to The Arts.
I'd read that they didn't mention Mac. Glad they did! Also so glad to see Lucinda interacting with the Hughes. I haven't watched a lot of the show in recent years but I can't remember her doing that in ages, aside from the anniversary. Great to see Susan again too, and that they are showing some of Lisa's grief. Not that interested in the stuff with Katie or Casey/Allison but I did like that flashback, I hadn't seen it (forget sometimes Katie was with Jack).
@jeffreykeyes1 One thing I can say in the show's defense is that they were hoping for Helen to utter the show's last words and weren't anticipating her death.
I had mixed feelings about this episode. I don't like how Casey at times seems more focused on marrying Alison than he mourning the loss of Nancy. And yes, I know Chris has a heart condition but I kind of wish they would have shut up about it for this episode. I was suprised to hear Mac's name since he wasn't mentioned at Thanksgiving. I enjoyed seeing Lisa's grief and Barbara's support. It's always nice to see Susan. I also enjoyed seeing Katie's grief.
@CarlD2 I think the whole production looked silly in that moment. That notion of stepping down to Kira's level to teach her literacy through rap music just makes me cringe.
Oh and I'm glad they remembered Nancy's love of books -- she had some good stories about literacy back in the day.

the bus ride from hell - hahahaha! Thanks for posting this! Like lots of people I was @ work & couldn't watch or tape it.

These Goodbye to Nancy Hughes was way over due. On another note I just love the makeup on all of the Oakdale women.

Two other thoughts. 1) Watching the bus ride from hell is always funny.
2) Has Kim always called Nancy mom?
@jeffreykeyes1 She should have gotten a couple of episodes out of it like Don McLaughlin did, at least.
@Oakdalian Oh I agree with you, I was just saying more about the character. Certainly the writing shouldn't have gone there.
@ThorneAstor Yes, Kim always has.
@CarlD2 Yes, though the flashback with Kira is cheesier than any pizza.
@Oakdalian It was hilarious, although I guess that's also a part of Nancy -- she didn't mind looking silly if she could help someone.
