One of the things I remember best about when I was in Malta was how clean and neat even the poorer sections of the country were. Literally the only way my friend and I could tell the poor sections and the wealthier sections were were based on the size and fanciness of the houses. Just because you're poor doesn't mean you have to be dirty.
My brother told me about this coffee nonsense a couple of hours ago and I started laughing my ass off. I am probably the most racist person in their eyes then as I love drinking my organic Guatemalan coffee with my creamer that I put in a milk frother every morning! 😂 News flash: everything you consume most likely has a bad history and a corrupt means of getting into your hands.
Exactly. So you use that knowledge to do your best to buy products from ethical sources when you can. Like fair trade coffee, for example. Buying coffee from "black countries" isn't racist if they're being compensated fairly for it, that's how they make a living. (And even when they aren't it doesn't mean "racism", it just means "general exploitation" of poorer countries.) But the left's solution to these things is "now we can't drink coffee at all because it is permanently racist no matter what! Only black people can have coffee!"
Coffee is not from Africa and it existed before America. There's no bad history and these obsessed weirdos are just making things up constantly. Don't even begin to think to take these morons seriously. "white people" AKA Europeans fought wars and colonized for spices but we supposedly don't use spices on our food. Weird.
The “stop it. Knock it off” at the end killed me. That’s what I say to my young kids when they’re acting up. I wonder what these people would say if I told them I prefer light roast coffee 😂😂
To be honest, the thought of organizing all of my and my husband's clutter and throwing out or donating what we don't need is overwhelming and I need his help to tackle it. However, I'm taking small steps today to clear out some of what's accumulated under and on top of our mail table. I may not get it 100% done today, but if I take small steps a few times per week to clean and organize, I can climb that mountain and our home will be better for it. I make my own coffee at home and treat myself to Starbucks maybe once every couple of months or so.
Thanks for explaining this in such detail. I always thought I didn't drink coffee because it tastes disgusting, and that I didn't organise my pantry because I couldn't be bothered. Now I've got a way better story for anyone who wants to get judgemental about it.

When I was getting my certifcation as an ESL teacher, I met some adult students from Colombia who taught me how to really enjoy my coffee. I used to just make plain coffee where I would just drink it black or add some cream. But they showed me some of the different ways that they improved the flavour of coffee by adding some cinnamon or vanilla beans, and it just tasted heavenly. From there, I started to go on a coffee journey that showed me all the different methods that people roast and prepare their coffee around the world and it's astounding all the different variations of brewing coffee that are available. As far as I'm concerned, coffee should be seen as something diverse and multi-cultural, and worth taking the time to explore and enjoy. Edit: Just on a side note, this whole video reminded me of Julian Smith - Racist Coffee music video from like years ago...
Yes, my great-grandfather was a coffee farmer, and our entire family, especially my great-aunts and great-uncles love coffee and take it extremely seriously. We are not white. Most coffee farmers are not white. Coffee is something that has different tastes from around the world. It's wonderful and beautiful. We need more people you you, sir.
My home pantry looks like I filled the back of my truck at the grocery store and just dumped it in. I have a sailboat with limited storage space below. I often take trips in Gulf where I don’t touch dirt for days. On a boat paper and cardboard is strictly forbidden because of insects. I use these storage containers to dump food products sold in boxes ( I also remove paper wrapping from can). My boat looks like one of these pantries. I guess it depends on motivation.
Indeed. Bought a bunch of cheap containers for my Gunpla supplies, gaming stuff, and important documents. Feels pretty damn good to have that shit organized.
Wait, am I just a miss raced person? I was assigned " white" or "Caucasian" at birth , however I have always been unorganized and messy my whole life. This woman has helped me discover who I really am! Thank you!
A few years ago wearing cotton was racist. Cotton stalks started showing up in craft stores. BTW my white dad and white mother-in-law both had (have) massive scars on their hands from picking cotton when they were little kids. They did this to help their families put a roof over their heads and food on the table.
I was thinking the article was gonna talk about how folks in Central and South America have been exploited by coffee companies - but of course they gotta make it all about themselves 😂
Yep, for these folks, black people are the only oppressed race & when they talk about "race", they are talking about blacks & whites in the U.S. Ironically, it's not poor black folks who are writing this crap. It's affluent young people who have been indoctrinated by higher education that teaches black Americans to see themselves as victims, while living better than probably 95% of the people who have ever lived.
That academic is also being very ablest, in her words. As a nero-divergent person having that 'perfect pantry' can be super important for some people. If i had control over my family pantry, it would be like those tiktoks because half the time I'm looking for something, I bought, for myself, goes missing, or because I don't have a space of my own, it gets used/eaten. I am someone that needs a 'Home' for things, and if it doesn't, it get messy and after a while it seriously stresses me out - like to the point of getting sick.
I found you recently, and I love your content. It’s like you’re reading my mind and saying exactly what I tell myself in my head when thinking about these issues. It’s so refreshing to know others see through the BS as well.
I’m a culprit of falling into this rabbit hole. Not sure even how these organizing videos found their way to me as I try to avoid social media (TikTok and IG) as much as possible. Yet there they were. I was so satisfied I bought water bottle organizers, shower shelves, pantry items. I don’t have everything cause I can’t justify buying everything if I don’t necessarily need it cause I’m using that money elsewhere. Truthfully I felt better once I cleaned and organized my home. It doesn’t look like some of these influencers who are organizing but my home feels a lot better. Just let people find happiness in the little things. Why does every innocent thing have to be so controversial and every controversial thing looked over. I’m so over it. Side note if this is a classist issue cause more well off people can afford this type of organization they sell these things in budget friendly department stores (i.e. Ross, DD’s, etc.) so it’s accessible and can be done but also if you want to save up and buy the nicer ones then do so. If you can’t then that sucks, I’m sorry but save up your extra income or find a higher paying job to afford it. Like this isn’t how life works you don’t just get it cause you want it. 🫠
Honestly, while Brett talked about that supposed professor my mind went to homes in Mexico where the floor is made of dirt but the home is cleaner than any five star hotel. Everything is super clean and super organized to the best of their ability and it’s a homey type of aesthetically pleasing, not this polished version of it. Also, coffee? Seriously. Get a grip. It’s just bean juice. It gives you life. We all deserve a warm cup of life in the morning. It’s delicious.
I was taught that cleanliness was next to godliness. Meaning order in one’s life is order is order in the mind and spirit! I’m sticking to that as it has served my mind well.
Fully agree with you in how that "professor" is more than likely projecting her insecurity that she probably lives in the equivalent of a trashpile. I also believe she's trying to slander this because these pantry videos, are being done by people who clearly are doing it not just themselves but likely their partner and/or kids. Thus she doesn't like it, especially being rubbed in her face she doesnt have someone to do that for/with.
Thank you for your commentary Brett! As usual…nailed it. I’ve NEVER heard that coffee joke. Don’t understand why people continue to drive wedges and further divide. Can you imagine how wonderful and successful our country would be if people spent just 25% of their time productively instead of with this negative BS? ‘Nuff said.
Love when academia can’t spot the difference between classism and racism then tells us it’s a “nuanced conversation” when the differences are pointed out.

I organize my pantry because it helps knowing where and how much of anything is at when I have to take the least amount of time to cook. If it’s organized than cooking takes less time and trying to figure out what you need to pick up at the grocery store takes less time.

One of the things I remember best about when I was in Malta was how clean and neat even the poorer sections of the country were. Literally the only way my friend and I could tell the poor sections and the wealthier sections were were based on the size and fanciness of the houses. Just because you're poor doesn't mean you have to be dirty.
Just contrast that with the USA, where one of the easiest way to tell the poorer sections of a city is by how clean (or rather not) it is...
My brother told me about this coffee nonsense a couple of hours ago and I started laughing my ass off. I am probably the most racist person in their eyes then as I love drinking my organic Guatemalan coffee with my creamer that I put in a milk frother every morning! 😂
News flash: everything you consume most likely has a bad history and a corrupt means of getting into your hands.
Weird.
Guatemalan coffee is intense and strong coffee😁
Being that organized just indicates that you are single and there's no one else around to mess up your stuff.
The “stop it. Knock it off” at the end killed me. That’s what I say to my young kids when they’re acting up. I wonder what these people would say if I told them I prefer light roast coffee 😂😂
Light roast does have more caffeine! I get it whenever I can.
Seeing someone my age with so much sense is so relieving. I feel very alone amongst my peers bc we just don’t see the world in the same way

Brett is quickly becoming my favorite DW commentator. The fact that she's a skilled SpongeBobologist is an extra bonus.
YAAAAAAS😆 I’m DONE organizing my pantry! 😂😂😂😂😂
I feel like it’s reversed psychology to get us to buy more coffee
Yeah, like media promotion in some crazy, dynamic way. Afterall, similar strats worked for HBO's Velma series, no?
I can't drink more coffe 😢 fysical impossible
It’s that unbelievably ridiculous that this seems more plausible
That “Dr” was trying to find a way, any way, to get attention… & this was the ONLY thing she could find to turn toxic that hasn’t been twisted yet so that she could get praise for it 😂 so desperate
I love how in the thumbnail, she's drinking coffee as if she's doing it to upset people😂
Read that statement again. "Doing it to upset people", lol, that's how crazy they are that someone drinking coffee is taken out of context and called racist, lol, unbelievable
Coffee Brand Coffee at that.😵😵
“As if”
She's only upsetting the correct people - those that yearn to be upset and will be no matter what she does.
Brett can go from funny and charming to angry-mom mode in a split second, lol.
This. I strongly suspect she learned angry mom mode from Diane! 😀
I didn't want to be the one to point this out, but its because she is white get with the reprogramming
@@nongovernment3606 omg what? Stop it. And by the way....black moms are notorious for their shoe throwing anger and white moms are known to be too easy.

This reminds me of a video I watched one time where a college student was going around a campus and asking people if voter registration was racist or something like that, and these students assumed that people in lower communities didn't have internet access... it was so ridiculous and more racist than anything I've ever seen. This is basically the same thing.
I’m so tired of everything being called “p0rn.”
Me too. Also everything being called a "hack",and I refuse to use the word "rock" unless it refers to either 1.a hard mineral formation found in nature;2.a type of popular music that started in the 1950s,or 3.a rhythmic,back-and forth motion applied to a baby's cradle or a chair with curved runners on rhe bottom. Not to say that you look good in a certain outfit or hairdo.

You're not black anymore. You lost your "blackness" when you drank coffee. --Liberal black people.
I actually agree, but depending on where the coffee is produced slave labor may be used. That’s why it’s best to buy fair-trade products.

As always Brett, you have not failed to deliver the smoothest ad transition around.
Her transitions to the sponsor should be taught to others. She is master at it.
Impeccable!! ❤😂
I’m white and I’m a huge coffee drinker and I’ve never heard anyone say “ A black man to roast it. A yellow man to grind it “ like literally where is that from? 😂😂😂

Me neither. I think the people claiming this are making it up. These people are compulsive liars.
Or maybe they are projecting their own racist thoughts. Unbelievable.
Seriously never heard this in my life I think they just made it up.
The broken window theory is a real thing,,, if the neighborhoods, businesses are clean and tidy people are less likely to commit crime in those areas whereas if u have broken windows it's filthy for some reason it welcomes more violence like break ins and robberies
learned about that studying criminology last semester
And here I thought cleanliness was about health. If it gets too dirty, all kinds of nasty bugs and bacteria come knocking.
It seems like whenever something this ludicrous comes along, the author is some kind of college professor. It really makes you rethink the concept of tenure.
I love how she blended her talk with the ad so clever
That is the strangest idea ever, organization is racism?
Everything is racist when you are a racist narcissist pretending to be saving the world
It sounds like the professor is racist. Is she assuming people of color are disorganized? 🤔
You know, I hate ads, but I love the way Brett transitions into them.

Johnny Cash also picked cotton.

In order to organize my cat stuff, I literally resuse the boxes the stores use to organize such products 😂
I don’t understand the taking things out of the box and putting them in a glass box. You already have a box. It was free and it even says what it is.
Supposed to make the items last even longer than the original container
My grandmother who's only indoor plumbing was a kitchen sink used to tell me as long as you have soap, water and rags there is no excuse for filth.

Can we just appreciate the fact that every video that is sponsored Brett smoothly starts her promo, completely unexpectedly every time 😂

Can you imagine how wonderful and successful our country would be if people spent just 25% of their time productively instead of with this negative BS?
‘Nuff said.
