    I found Frightened Rabbit at a difficult point in my life. Living in New York City, on my own for the first time in my life. My favorite bookstore had a small section of vinyl records I would sift through picking up ones that seemed interesting to look up later when I found this album. It immediately struck my heart and to the dismay of my roommates, the album played on repeat for a month straight. A couple years later I heard the news of Scott's passing and was devastated. His music, his voice, and his words got me through so much and continues to to this day. I will forever be grateful for what he gave us while he was alive.

    So true. What a treasure. Miss you, Scott, thank you for sharing

    Ben Gibbards words on music discovery and aging are so spot on. I wish I could have that as a snippet to throw back at every post from some old person that states rock is dead or no good music is made anymore.

      I'm sort of an "old" person. 55 yrs old. I continue to yearn for new, amazing music. And it truly is out there. Most people my age seem to get stuck in some decade in the past and never move forward. Now we go to concerts with our grown children and continue discovering. I discover FR 6 or 7 years ago. They are now in my top 10 bands of all time. Don't get stuck in the past as you age!!

    • @jsilverchannel

      @@amypetrone2194 Spot on. So many middle aged people where I live like country music from a certain era, or music from the 80's and that's it. I am close to 40 and I love discovering new music! I listen to music from the 60's to present and varying genres.

      So True...anyone who says "Rock is Dead" is either ignorant or a hipster. I've never had trouble finding new good music, FR is one of them. Bens' take on it is spot on

    • @michaelmuirandmyms6161
      @michaelmuirandmyms6161 5 лет назад

      I agree 100% Brett and everyone else commenting. I love harking back to music I've loved throughout my life but new music and especially new rock/alternative music means do much. I'm 45 with 3 kids so firmly in the middle aged world but would hate to dwell on 1 musical era alone and I hope my kids enjoy the same passion that I have and that you folks have too.
      It's soppy as fuck but music is life!!!

    • @ThomasBrubach
      @ThomasBrubach 5 лет назад +1

      The only thing he missed was the role of novelty of the music coupled with novelty of experience at young ages. All the music you hear at that age is coupled with new experiences and hormones. I would argue that's the biggest reason.

    My girlfriend and I drove from Toronto to New Jersey to see them perform at The Stone Pony about 6 years ago. It was a defining live moment for both of us. Now that our daughters have become of age it saddens me they will never experience the same from this incredible, wonderful band. I hope everyone who is as touched and moved by their music as we are were able to experience their energy, charm, and raw power.

      My wife and I saw them the first time in the basement of a church in Philadelphia-- dropped ceilings, stacks of chairs on the side, it would think you were there to watch a third grade play.
      It was unreal.
      It makes me very sad for my music-loving son that he'll never get to hear Scott live.

    Scott's legacy will carry on through the beauty of the songs he made, and will live on in the achy, battered hearts of the young and old alike.

    I found Frightened Rabbit buy picking up the Midnight Organ when I heard a sone years ago on the radio. I became obsessed with the album, then saw them live. Incredible live - this is one of those bands and Scott - who I will never forget. Lyrics are raw and true and meaningful to all of us. Rest in peace Scott - we'll miss your creativity forever.

    “He just . . . cut open his heart and pulled it out and put it out there for everyone to see.”
    I didn't think it was possible to explain why I was so moved by this album until I heard these words. My first concert ever was Frightened Rabbit in Spokane for a stop on their Pedestrian Verse tour. Scott's acoustic version of Scottish Winds that night still gives me goosebumps. He embodied honesty, showing every part of his experiences, especially the ugly. That's why Frightened Rabbit has the most invested fans. The character behind the music is what makes it so beautiful. We miss you Scott and I'm so glad you created and experienced this celebration of your work.

    I only properly discovered FR last year. I knew of them, but had no friends who were into their music, so I never took it upon myself to give them a go. Organ Fight has been on repeat for the best part of 6 months now. I just watched this and sobbed. Scott clearly meant so much to so many people. What a gigantic and terrible loss.

I listened to the album over and over again and the music gave me an emotional channel to help process what was happening to me. I've been a fan ever since, seen Frightened Rabbit multiple times, and Scott solo once. I'm so sad that he's gone. Great to hear all these great artists talk so honestly about Scott and his music writing. Scott may have been a troubled soul but that did not stop him being a working class genius who could relate to real people. There is not a week that goes by when I do not think about him and wish that he was still with us. I am just glad that his music will live on forever. Rest easy Scott and watch over the Tiny Changes that your legacy will continue to make for many years. ♥

    Not many people go that you've never met and you can look back on their work, their catalogue of words pulled into poetry with some chords. I'm no fanboy of frabbit they were amazing but Scott was special feel like he will never really be appreciated the way he deserves, not that it seemed he seeked it but for many who have been down he gave sanctuary and a kinship through words. His words to me are on par with any great songwriter or wordsmith before him and will remain timeless. People will have the same struggles and resonate every day with pain, the joy and the honesty in those words. Rest easy big man thanks for being special.

    i saw fr live in 2011 during a death cab for cutie concert when codes and keys was released. i'm pretty sure it was their first time touring in america. i have never seen someone so... passionate and full of life on stage before. scott... i'm so sorry you went through all the traumas and tribulations that you did. god, i would have traded my place. i wish it was someone else, anyone else that they had pulled from that river that day. i'm a struggling addict, csa/trauma victim and mentally ill individual. whenever i feel like giving up and just killing myself like i've tried before many times, i think of scott. he makes me feel so much better. his music speaks to me, resonates with me. i don't want to give up. he wouldn't want one of his fans to make the same mistakes he did. his death hurts me so much, because a couple years before his death, i had lost a friend to suicide, and it reminded me of him all over again. we have to be there for others, now more than ever. even if someone doesnt look like they're hurting, please be kind and supportive and honest. be there for them. help others. show compassion. it's what the world needs now more than anything else. i will never forget you, scott, and the sheer impact you left on me the day i found you. thank god for you, for this band. you were an angel, and passed too soon, but i think your message you wanted to send to the world resonates here in this final collab, and your final words. rest easy. i hope you're finally free.
