Putting it like that, they were similar. All very well said in hindsight, but even hindsight is coloured rosy. Both bands have an influence far beyond their time, only Nirvana can't do nostalgia tours.
He talks the same way about Sid and detests Sid’s mom for her role in his drug abuse. He seems to have a lot of remorse as well for introducing him to Nancy and deepening his addiction. I think he realizes Sid was a disaster.
Not really a comparison. Maybe if they stayed more in the bleach, incestide era. But since he topped himself. Not really a question. Now is it. I have grown to live johnny Rotten. Like Bubba Zen said in the comments. More the person than musically.
@Albert_Br We're both confused I think, as that was my initial point. I'm not judging John, just highlighting the fact that it's a meaningful and sensitive topic for him. Huge fan of John, the Pistols and PIL myself so no judgement. In hindsight, my first comment could've been worded clearer. 🙂

Kurt didn't "top himself." He was murdered, and Nirvana wasn't a recreational mindless drug band, as he is paining it as. Johnny Rotten has always been an Establishment puppet.
Well, but, I Guess Sid was not a member of the Sex Pistols then. Put that another way, JL considers himself to be the Sex pistols and the rest were just hired help. I mean, I wasn't there but... 🎉

Nirvana had a good following in the underground before being signed to a major record label with there first album “bleach” being released on an independent label. The only reason their fame was even possible was because a host decided to play nevermind on a college radio & even then it garnered popularity only AFTER they were signed with their new major label DCG. Didn't care for the guy back when he came out but love him now. Just as a person more than musically
Love Johnny ❤
100% correct
Thank you John. Your a blessing.

Wise words.
Right ✅️
Not an agreeable guy but listen, Johnny's wise.
Sid?
If ya saw Jonny today, you'd see that he never stopped forgiving himself
Yes. That’s why he said what he said.
re:"Sid" and thats his whole point. Thats what he's talking about.
@@Albert_Brwhich makes for a similarity
He likes Status Quo :)
He is also a fan of Pink Floyd, personally I prefer PIL far superior to the Sex Pistols.

So Sid Vicious was a guiding light, was he Johnny?

He said that because he was Sids pal many blame her for Sids demise.. There are too many similarities between Sid and Nancy and Kurt and Courtney.

The Sex Pistols were literally a boy band assembled by a record label. Fake as fuck, and not punk.
