- In this video, I show how you can repair damage done by leaking batteries and corrosion on your Instax and film cameras. I also show how you can repair broken battery terminals in case they've been rusted and corroded.
This saved my camera! I had recently bought an instax 210 wide on eBay used and it arrived with some serious corrosion. I had previously tried cleaning it once with a toothbrush and baking soda, and the camera was still dead. using your tips, I was able to get it back up and working. Thank you so much!
Amazing how my camera is saved with some aluminium foil! The corrosion on the bottom part of my camera was still so bad after an hour of scrubbing with vinegar and a toothbrush so I just resigned to using the aluminium and it was euphoric when my camera came to life!!! 😂 Thank you so much!!!
Thank you so much! I was about to give up on my camera because it wont turn on and thanks to your tips i got it to work again! 😭💗
Exactly what I need to know, thanks! My thing is, I dragged a Pentax sp500 out of a closet and the battery doodad is corroded shut but you can't see the corrosion. I have NO working knowledge of cameras, I'm literally learning this thing from the inside out😂 I'll try these tips.
The SP500 and spotmatics are notorious for having a stuck battery cap because of corossion. Sometimes it's easier remove by removing the whole bottom plate. Good thing the SP500 works without batteries though.
Nice video, thanks for the advices. Have a good day 👏🏻💪🏻
Please correct me if I'm wrong but is the foil not a fire hazard? (Science wasn't one of my better subjects in high school.)
Well the foil will need a pretty large voltage and current to to make it hot enough to catch fire-the batteries only provide about 6 volts in total. I wouldn't worry too much about a fire hazard. Using foil is a just a quick hack though and it's always better to use proper springs for a stronger, longer lasting repair.
Hi! I just want to ask how to fix instax mini 9 if the metal thing is stuck and it doesnt go down? Im thinking maybe that is the problem why all the lights are blinking even if I try to put new batteries. Thank you!
Yes the camera will sort of freeze and just blink if it can't cycle. If the metal claw is stuck there's some issue with the film pack, rollers or ejection system.
@@GoneWithFilm Hello again! Sir, can you help me what to do the metal claw already go down and already bought new alkaline batteries but all the lights are still blinking. Is there different way to solve this?
Ikaw ang tagapaligtas ng camera ko! Huhu... mrming slamt boss.
Hello, I tried fixing instax mini 9 using your different methods but it still doesn't work. I used my camera last 2019 and just opened it this year, the battery leaked and there's some corrosion. I tried cleaning it and tried using aluminum foil but still doesn't open.
In that case the corrosion probably reached the circuit board or wiring-a qualified repair technician would be needed to look at the camera and fix it.
This worked! Thank you ❤
Glad it helped!
Hi I cleaned my battery terminals with cotton dabbed in warm water lightly like a local technician advised me to. I can’t see any corrosion but it is still not turning on. I used my instal mini 8 last in 2018 I believe and the batteries leaked in 2020 which I discovered soon after and removed the batteries and cleaned the leakage then. Today I sat down to clean it properly and can’t turn it on.
The corrosion probably reached up to the circuit board or some of the wires might be corroded too.
@@GoneWithFilm do you open the whole camera to see thereafter?
Yes, that's the only way to really check the circuit board.
@@GoneWithFilm cleaned it and just had to change the battery
ingenious!
Thank you so much, it saved my instax.. I just saw it now and tried it immediately, and it works! ❤
one of the batteries got stuck in my instax mini 9, it's like glued in there
You can try using the vinegar to dissolve the corrosion. If it won't come out, try applying a penetrating oil like WD40.
Hi! May i know is this method can be used on my Instax Mini 11? 🥹
Yes, same method will work on the 11
@@GoneWithFilm Thanks a million! It's work well and my camera can turn on like usual 🙌🏻😍
