This should come with a warning. When you learn the way finding cheap tack you become either a boarder line hoarder OR people think you own a tack store. I'm the 2nd one and I'm always selling extra stuff. It's a fun side hobby/money maker.
I second what others have mentioned about the Facebook groups for horse tack/riding clothes and also consignment stores for nice used tack. I wanted to mention that sometimes barns and riding schools organize tack swaps, which is like yard sales for horse equipment! It’s fun to see what everyone is getting rid of and sell some of your own unwanted stuff!
Lol my Craigslist and EBay scores... CL- Crates saddle- 16" less than $400 in great shape. Crates 15" barrel saddle- still have and use all the time, listed at $300 but when I drove across town to buy it they decided to knock $25 off for my gas Ebay- Passier 17" close contact pick up only in NJ- $88. Found a courier online for $84 to take it to my friend 20 minutes away. Another $75 for shipping and their time- saddle is in great shape and just turned 40 in November. County dressage saddle 16.5" with pad $195 shipped and they threw in a quarter sheet to boot. Brand new Pros choice dressage girth 24" - $21 shipped. Pros choice 38" girth. Brand new $17 shipped Black Dressage bridle with Swarovsky crystal browband and Brown hunter bridle both new with tags, no prices- package deal form a woman at the barn- $25 total. Not sure of the actual retail price on the dressage bridle but the hunt bridle sells for $138.00 at Dover. I have what rivals a tack store in my garage and more at the barn. A lot of it came from eBay at a fraction of the normal price. Anybody looking for something- let me know and I can usually find it.
I've just transitioned to english riding and I've bought everything except my polos on eBay used. I bought my saddle for 100 dollars (I actually bought it for $35 but shipping was super expensive!) and I've had great luck with eBay for used horse stuff. Although I must say, it takes literal HOURS to find good pieces with good deals, but it's so worth it. Thanks for the great video!
I recommend horseloverz and chicks saddlery they both have great saddle packages witch include saddle, stirrups, girth, saddle pad, bridle, reins, and bit for like $200 to $400
The Kentucky Horse Park has also one every year to raise money for their therapeutic riding center. I went there and got a nice western saddle pad for about $7.
I got my saddle on Ebay and it'll arrive any day now! I am very excited. I like to buy stuff second hand, used and non used, both in horse second hand shops and online from people on horse sites. It's weird though, some things seem more expensive in the US compared to where I live in Sweden, I mean, makeup and clothes are usually way cheaper there in North America. Also, I'm 16 and therefor do not have a large budget, but these are definitely som good ways so save money on a very expensive sport, so I'll have a look at the next yard sale I'm at! Thank you. Also, it'd be fun if you made riding challenge stuff and such here on your channel, it'd be very entertaining. I love your DIY videos btw, maybe you could try making a halter or a bridle sometime, that'd be fun to watch. I really like your channel!
Congrats on getting a saddle! That is so exciting waiting for it to come, don't you think? Thank you for the suggestions for different video ideas, that really helps me a lot. :)
I love using Facebook groups to buy and sell tack and apparel. You just use PayPal. Also the app called TackHunter is great! Way cheaper and no fees like eBay.
I live in Tennessee and we have a Facebook page I believe it is called Tennessee Horses or something like that and they sell horses and tack on the page and I have seen some beautiful horses and really good tack that is super inexpensive
i can't buy anything in ridingwarehouse because shipping to my country for one brush is 60 bucks!!! and for half what i needed was over 500$ shipping. But i found one online tack store based in uk where a huge box with all stuff i need. and shiping to my country is just 20£ witch is 24€
can you please make some more DIY because they help out me sooo soo soo much. It would be fun to see a DIY on a glitter gel for horses! because some of them get pretty expensive.
If someone doesn't know anything about the equipment they are selling, don't buy it. Because the person who actually owns the saddle would want it more than you do.
Honestly I really prefer Stateline Tack or Chick's Saddlery over Riding Warehouse. I find that those two stores have a lot better sales than Riding Warehouse i.e. I bought 6 things from Chicks Saddlery and it was only $55 and that's including shipping. Those 6 things were worth about $90 without shipping too. So just a heads up you might want to check those sites out as they are some of my favorites! Btw very informational and great vid! I'll make sure to keep those things in mind when shopping for my horses!
Thank you! I completely spaced out State Line Tack, I order from them a lot, especially for supplements, and horse care items, I will definitely check out their tack selection too :)

I went to a used tack sale recently and got a decent western saddle pad with minimal wear for about $7.

You can get a cheap bridle on Wish for 20 dollars. It probably isn't very durable but could work as a temporary bridle or something.
We have a couple of consignment stores in our area. Also, twice a year in Raleigh, NC they have a huge consignment equestrian sale.
The Kentucky Horse Park has also one every year to raise money for their therapeutic riding center. I went there and got a nice western saddle pad for about $7.
btw your videos have helped me a LOT. Frisby and Ethan are just beautiful and cute horses
Thank you very much kikinis, that really means a lot to me :)
