  • In this video I show you the steps on how to make a very simple 2 jig Fluke - Flounder rig. This rig works great with Gulp and when worked slow on the bottom from Shore, piers, docks, bridges and even boats.

Thanks for the tips on the fishing piers. Sounds like a great place to introduce my young grandkids to fishing when I visit them in LI this summer.

I’m I wrong for using a 5/0 circle sea hook? Is it to big?

@@FishingLongIsland I’m was scared they might break the hook that’s why I went heavy lol. I was just playing around and with a reg crank bait for bass fishing I hooked a 28-32 pound redfish and it broke the hooks and bent one

I live in Coney island can I also use home made Garlic 🧄 scented bait for my artificial bait when I shore fish?

@@FishingLongIsland I Sure will Brother. I'm used to Fishing Pikes and Muskies with artificial bate like the pokemon top water lures. And jitter bugs as well. In our New York waters as far as salt water do you believe it might work? Down here in the back of Kiezer park right off Neptune Ave. The water is more calm than the Surf ave side. Your the professional so I'll take whatever you prescribed

@@country3945 I think the scent will work. There was a few companies that were making garlic fish scent

Why use the swivel? Couldn't you use a line to line knot for tying on leaders, and put the second jig on the tag end? If you tie it with a long tag end you can do it that way and eliminate the swivel. But maybe you have a reason for doing it that way?

Sometimes it will wrap around but it usually works its way out. Sometimes I have shorten the longer leader if there’s a lot of wind and the cast is a little difficult

That rig is a tangle waiting to happen. Also if your going to use two different size jigheads. The lighter one should always be the shorter one and top hook.

This is a common rig used for speckled trout from piers and beach down in NC. It does not really tangle much if at all and I prefer the heavier rig in front so it swims a little lower...the lighter rig is about a foot or less behind the heavy rig and rides a bit higher in the water.
