As an American born citizen with an Irish born Grandfather, Gibson and Associates helped me become and Irish citizen by decent. Many thanks to Kellie McLaughlin and her team at Gibson and Associates for helping me, and my extended family, connect to our roots!
Thank you, for your heartfelt feedback! We're thrilled to have been able to assist you with your Irish citizenship application. It was our pleasure to help, and we sincerely appreciate your kind words and appreciation.
I have my appointment with you guys in February! So excited that I can become a citizen because of my great grandparents. Moving to Ireland has long been a dream of mine & now it's happening 🙏🏻☘️
We are looking forward to speaking with you!
Hi Nathan, thank you for engaging on our posts. There are automatic, or near-automatic criteria that will see an individual granted Irish citizenship, including the obvious descent lineage of Parents and Grand-Parents. There are a host of other options and criteria - many of which are not automatic or guaranteed - but they can be applied across a range of circumstances. Some of these are qualification based, and some require a discretionary waiver by the Minister for Justice (e.g. Naturalisation By Association). For a child or grand-child of an Irish Citizen - that’s pretty straightforward. For others, a path to living and working in Ireland remains an entirely realistic option - whether through a registered Foreign Birth, Naturalisation, or Naturalisation by Association - there remain a host of options available for the Irish Diaspora to explore. In fact, there exists a range of options for those without a direct lineage to Ireland to seek an appropriate visa to reside in Ireland. I will also leave a link to the Dáil Debate, which might answer any outstanding questions that you may have. www.oireachtas.ie/en/debates/question/2020-09-16/109/
Hi Nathan, to be clear, we’re not saying that anyone has a right to Irish citizenship because they have an Irish Great-Grandparent. However, there is a mechanism through which individuals can apply for naturalisation. Each application for naturalisation is decided upon its own merits and assessed individually as such. Your opinion on the prospect of the success of such an application is of course your own to hold and clearly you believe that such applications are practically unobtainable. Our experience has shown differently. There are no guarantees, because there is no automatic right and it is through a detailed consultation that we’re able to assess whether there is a reasonable probability that an individual’s background and circumstances are likely to meet the stringent thresholds currently in place. Sometimes the answer from that interaction is that no opportunity to progress a naturalisation application exists, but often there are circumstances which can be argued or indeed other avenues to explore which might include access to work or reside or retire in Ireland. There are many routes to explore and the best option can only be identified following a thorough consultation and assessment of individual circumstances.
@@GibsonAssociatesLLPSolicitors I have an Irish Great Grandpa. If I were to fill out the paperwork for my mother (her grandfather) would that make me an automatic citizen or fast track my own paperwork?
@@GibsonAssociatesLLPSolicitors Ok, my curiosity - the €1,000,000 question - how expensive is it to do it with help from a solicitor?
I am in the process of becoming a Irish Citizen by descent through my grandmother. You mention great-grandparents may qualify, which I've never heard before. Does that mean my adult children (26 and 31) qualify or would they have to be minority?
do I only need the citizenship to be a member of the EU, or do I need an Irish passport as well?
My mothers great grandparents was born in Ireland can you help her?
How can you check the FBR?
Can you help me?
I am American born. I believe there’s a possibility that my great grandfather was born in Ireland. If so would that be enough to qualify me for Irish citizenship?
Do you guys help with obtaining vital records for the process of Irish citizenship by decent?
Hi David, we can advise you of the best options in order to find these documents, but unfortunately, we don't do it on your behalf.
Website link isn’t working :/
Is there a way to look up to see if my parent or grandparent had an FBR entry number because I cannot locate those records if they were registered or not. The only descendent on my mothers side her grandfather was born in Ireland but his daughter, my grandmother ,was born in Ohio alongside her daughter(my mother) in Ohio and me in Idaho?
Thank you for reaching out to us with your concern, please submit an inquiry on our website at the following link and one of our representative will reach out to discuss your case:

You dont need this.. the process is very easy. I did it myself and now have an Irish and US passport.
From which generation relative & did you have anything already established that made it easier? Meaning, you or your parent already in foreign births register etc.?
Grandparent
I would have already been a citizen if I was in the FBR.
When I was entered into the FBR, thats when I became a citizen.
If you need help, let me know. Dont pay these clowns for something you can do yourself.
@@aviationnationhd3760 Would love to hear more.
do you know if its possible to apply for a deceased family member that would of been entitled to citizenship?
I'm confused. Everyone else tells me that great grandparents aren't enough for me to qualify.
They aren't
Hi Nathan, thank you again for engaging in our posts. I hope our comment & reply above indicates to you the different possible routes in which one can take when applying for citizenship through a great grandparent, it is evident that although nothing is guaranteed, it is possible.
I have just completed my ancestry research and published a book. Both of my Great Grandparents on my mother's side were born in Ireland - one in Cork and one in Tipperary. My Great Grandmother on my father's side was born in Galway. Neither of my parents ever registered as being grandchildren of Irish citizens. Is it a total waste of time for me to try to gain legitimate Irish citizenship? Where to from here?

Both my parents were born in Ireland I would like to move to Spain I was born in the uk how do I apply please

I do have a great grandfather from Cork in Ireland but looking at the Irish govt site it appears I would only be eligible if my father had registered in the Foreign births register before I was born? Shame really, would have been nice to live in Ireland.
You can get Irish citizenship even if your father was not on fbr.
When is next Irish ceromomy?
Grandparents are from Donegal, what documents are needed?
Hi Jeffrey, the main documents needed are proof of birth, death & marriage.
I was born in Liverpool and so far traced my G G Grandfather to Carlow. I am hopeful I can apply for citizenship
Forget it, you won’t get it on that basis, that’s too far removed.
@@NeurodivergentGuy2023that's not true in all cases

My 6th great grandmother is from Ireland. Does this mean I can qualify for a citizenship?
I want to get out of the US so badly. I have proof that my great-grandparents were born on the island of Ireland. I pray that I can gain citizenship to your beautiful country.
lol because of Biden?
Or you can just go there and apply for a resident permit after 90 days tourist visa. Or just stay illegally for years. Or keep crossing over into the UK every 90 days? Either way, you've got a US passport, you can do almost anything.
@Nathan Mcilveen That would be some sweet irony. There are tens of thousands of illegal Irish immigrant in America to this day.
@Nathan Mcilveen Also, typically speaking, the type of American who travels to Ireland is not the one complaining about illegal Mexicans. This type of American is usually afraid of everything different, while most who bother to come across are at least curious.
