    I live in nyc. I applied to the FBR through descent of my grandparent
    I heard from the Foreign birth registry July 31st via email.
    * Here's the timeline for me:
    * Irish citizenship
    Application
    Payment received
    On 9/22/23
    *10 months later
    On 7/31/24
    Fbrentitlement emailed me to confirm my address
    *According to the experience of people on *According to the experience of people on message boards and forums...
    After I confirm my address
    I'm almost done
    * I will get an email about 1 month later confirming my citizenship
    * * 2 weeks after that the citizenship and the other supporting documents should arrive in the mail So l'm close. My question is this: will they send me some sort of a document certifying that I am a citizen? s there an additional fee for this? Is it mandatory to go to a ceremony and take an oath, if I get citizenship by descent. thank you

      You will recieve an FBR certificate after the final email saying congratulations.
      This document will be used to apply for your passport. You won't need your grandads docs but your parents docs if I'm correct along with yours.
      For the ceremony I'm not too sure if its mandatory but it's an important.
      One question which I'm still wondering is the residency rule.
      They say that you should legally reside in ireland for three years upon approval. So I wonder if that puts a halt on any work or travel you do within the EU.

    Hi, my maternal grandfather was born in Ireland in 1920 but his father never registered his birth. He has no birth certificate but i do have evidence from the parish church that he was baptised the day after he was born. I've written to the Irish GRO to do a search for him. Is this enough to apply for Irish Citizenship? Thanks

    Irish Born Grandparent - Will PDF copies of the original civil birth certificate and original civil marriage certificate work?

    • @stuartmcconnachie
      @stuartmcconnachie Месяц назад

      No. Needs to be original printed official government issued document. “Original” in this sense does *NOT* mean it has to be the actual copy issued at time of birth/marriage/death. You can apply for a replacement official “copy” (from the appropriate official registry of births/deaths/marriages) and that will count as an original. But no electronic copies (e.g. pdf) or photocopies.

    So if I become dual citizen from my grandmother would my kids automatically have dual citizenship?

      Irish citizenship doesn't really work that way, but this would be best discussed with your attorney. Feel free to reach out at info@mcenteelaw.com or 773-828-9544

    As per website ..
    Have you received my application and documentation?
    We advise you to send your application by recorded post so that you can track its delivery, as we do not acknowledge receipt of post.
    What is the current status of my application?
    Due to the complex nature of the Foreign Birth Registration process, it takes approximately 9 months to process a completed Foreign Birth Registration application. If we require further documentation, we will contact you.
