I started Akane-banashi when it was a few chapters in, and I've been loving it ever since! I love to see how insanely well it's doing in Japan and marvel at how consistently fantastic it is on a weekly basis.

If I had to pick specific aspects of it I love:
      - the beautifully detailed faces help me relate to and become immersed in the characters and situation more than most manga
      - made me genuinely interested in rakugo, I had never heard of it before
      - I let chapters of it build up and tackle it all at once because it feels so story driven instead of a serialized, "what's happening this week?" approach, which in turn makes it even more enjoyable and leaves me thinking about the story a lot longer

Akane Banashi is without a doubt one of the best written series in the magazine. Really since its inception. The way Rakugo is used as a vehicle to have us to explore fun, passionate & insightful personalities throughout its run has been my favorite aspect throughout. No signs of letting up!! Logan with another banger😤🤧

I read it out of curiosity a while back because lots of people recommended it. I ended up binging it. Easily one of my favorite ongoing manga right now. Who knew a manga about Rakugo could be so good.

What manga are you into? Idk but i have read 10 chapters and i can't find myself enjoying it? I don't like it but i don't hate it. It is mediocre for me. I skipped to chapter 40 something to see if something might change but it is the same, just rakugo and akane which i understand is the whole point but i find it hard that i can't get into it. With other series like gintama i didn't think i would get into but i did same with one piece as well. Another series i nearly dropped eas choujin x but i got into int around chapter 14 or so but even so that is a long read up to that point and until this point i haven't dropped a manga and this is the first i am seriously considering. I am one to always give something a chance and get a broader view of things and rakugo is something i was never aware of and with these 10 chapters i know more about it and its cool but idk Akane banashi just didn't peak my interest but like i said this will be the first manga i have ever dropped so it feels weird because every other manga i read i enjoyed and this one just didn't hit the mark it seems bland and nothing seems to happen not that anything needs to but it just seems like the same thing over and over kinda like detective conan although u have never seen it but it seems like that.

3:41 I love this panel because it shows visually were Akane in taking a breath. And the difference in impact when she delivers it in one shot

I'm just here to shoutout the editing put into the video, but also a really great video and made me more interested in the work that I previously was not too familiar with. A lot of great points about why it works and I gotta love a work that really utilizes the medium to draw out the contents of its story in a way that may otherwise seem difficult. Kind of reminds me of music manga where you know, its hard to depict music in manga because there's no sound but somehow they make it work through their own way

Given I know from Miyazaki and Ito that creators aren't always a match for their works, I'd say Oda and Anno would probably like a short-running down-to-earth self-contained story that focuses on interactions between good people just living their everyday lives. Probably a romance, mystery tale, road trip story or mundane slice-of-life where the stories are driven by characters' personal dynamics, motivations and aspirations rather than macguffins or extrinsic threats, set in our world or a past version of it, and the theme being self-respect, opening oneself to others and the rejection of materialism.

Really good vid, love to see people talking about this manga, currently one of my fave ongoing new manga. Would love to see a vid on Beat & Motion if possible!

I will consider it! Beat & Motion has such a unique story behind it's production so that could be fun to get into

I really love the characters. My favorite has to be Karashi, I am looking forward to seeing him evolve alongside Akane and Hikaru.

Show-ha Shoten is very good, is it really much better? I'll probably read it, but I have so many manga I'm reading, and I'm a slow reader (about 30 minutes chapter if I'm rushing)

I also think Anno and Oda share a preservatonist sentiment, especially as some of the few creators in the industry with international recognition. For example Anno invested in the preservation of old tokusatsu models and suits and Oda donated large amounts of money to the repairs of an old castle that was damaged in an earthquake. Young artists with fairly modern sensibilities writing about a niche, traditional profession seems just like the sort ofthing they would want to push.

Im proud that ive been reading akanebayashi since the very first chapter. Honestly the shonen jump app is really good at showing you the new series coming out. Not just akane banashi, but blue box, act-age, illusive samurai all were series i read from the get go because of the app

Oh dang rakugo getting the spotlight again? I miss them!
The facial expressions is definitely the factor that is hooking me, and the body language too. With an artstyle I love as well. Might dive in to see its full glory.
The editing of the video is real nice :D

But only because of the Act-Age tragedy.

I've genuinely loved Akane Banashi when I was up to date. At some point between 30th and 40th chapter I've put it on hold to get more chapters ready for binge reading in some simpler times, but I'm often just speeding through the pages of most recent chapters to get a glimpse of what's happening. I think it has every right to be huge and I feel like this is the new Act-Age. My daughter here taking names, growing as a person, selling volumes and stealing hearts - that's what I'm here for.
Not even truly kidding - I rarely have this protective and doting attitude towards manga characters, but I very much have it for Akane, for Palma (Choujin X) or for Tadashi Yamaguchi and Yachi (Haikyuu). Watching them grow, stumble and perform to the peak of their abilities? Priceless

I wouldn't say nobody is talking about it, but I'm always happy to see people showing Akane Banashi to more people and it's been such a great read. I do wish I didn't sleep on it for so long though lol also besides this one Undead Unluck and Sakamoto Days is awesome as well.

I feel like no one talks about ichinose family deadly sin but its like one the top favorites of all manga this year in Japan. I was thinking of constructing a video titled the same thing for that 😅 (who knows if id really do it, never made a video essay because and writing was never my strong suit in the past)

ALSO (just to make some more traffic under your much appreciated take) - you literally can NOT find this on YT, unless you just go straight to your channel or reach it from Twitter. Typing "Akane Banashi" from the last week does nothing, typing "Akane Banashi TazerLad" also didn't present this video. Dunno what's wrong, but I'm glad that at least Twitter recommended you, dude.

It’s an impressive series how it could turn Rokugo into a Shobuen manga, with a female protagonist nonetheless! The recent arcs are lacking character development but I can see it picking up again soon!

It looks great. Really out of place for jump. Way to squeeze a girl boss character in . Boring .be like buying the whole guyver series and a guest episode being about making daisy chains and talking business
