- One of my oldest friends, Jose, asked me if we could hit some trails memorial day weekend. He's got a Hummer H2 and he's been slowly building it into an overland rig. He's a backpacker, and a camper, so this is sort of the perfect vehicle for him. He's also a big dude.
We take his H2 through most of Fern Ridge at AOAA, and man, he did great!

Fern ridge is fun. I broke my spare drive shaft on one of those off shoots so I had to run the rest of it in front wheel drive.

With a few upgrades and a good driver, the h2 will tackle most anything. Just have to watch the body.
They definitely get a bad rap though. I remember when the H2 hit the scene and everyone just complained about how it wasn't as capable as the H1. Which I guess has some truth to it, but honestly, the H1 wasnt all that either. ;) My buddy Jose here did a pretty good job with that big ol Hummer. I do think its a tad too wide for some of the trails at AOAA though.
