Hi there! Thank you so-so much for continuing to cover such cases! You do an amazing job at thoroughly researching articles on every topic you cover, and also citing/linking them, so that you are - to the extent of written records - as credible as you can be! Absolutely praiseworthy! I wanted to ask a somewhat personal question, which I've been wondering for quite some time (if you don't mind): do you have any outdoors experience, given that you only cover outdoor/hiking/etc. disappearances? Or is the topic just an interest of yours?
I've been a spectator at this event multiple times. Seeing so many participants coming down off of the mountain at the end of the race covered in mud, scratched up, bloody, bruised, torn clothes, limping... some in serious need of medical attention... I wouldn't be surprised at all if Paul had fallen and hit his head, then wandered away from the trail. Perhaps he tumbled off a cliff then burrowed in somewhere too injured to carry on or call out for help? I also heard that he was behind the majority of the runners making it less likely that anyone would have see him or heard him. Still so very strange that no trace of him has been found thus far. Even stranger that the dogs could not find him. Truly heartbreaking for the family 💔
There's actual footage taken that day by a TV crew doing a show following around Emergency Response Crews and their responseto this missingman. They found a woman who slipped and hurt her leg. She was lucky to be found.
Love your reporting on disappearances! Also, LOVE your voice! Keep it up. Your very thorough, and have great thoughts and questions on everything. Can't help but wonder why most disappear alone. 🤔 I think we all can't assume why though. ❤ Love to all the families that are associated with your reporting. I've heard this case as posted by a number of youtubers and this has always struck me as one of the most bizarre. That and the 17 yo girl who walked to a lake after a party of horseback riders settled in to camp, she vanished without a trace except for a lens cap. Like they never existed. SMH
It's interesting, but I feel like a lot of people wouldn't be so surprised if they went to Seward and looked at the place. Not sure there COULD be "thousands of spectators", and the terrain is not as blatant at all as these youtubers make it seem. I couldn't see the "mountain", the ones above Seward are not being "run" by anyone... it's a lot of up. "False summit" ok, that wasn't obvious either.

I found it odd that the volunteers left their posts before the very last runner got down. This case has always baffled me. The fact that he was a seasoned runner makes it eerie. However like you said, there was a lot of foot traffic so that could explain the confusion and what looks like Paul vanishing into thin air.
If he was a seasoned runner, he should have been much faster, he made about 1200ft in 90 minutes (photo half way up the mountain)...even an untrained once a year hiker would have a slightly better pace (1000ft/h)...it's slow hiking speed...so, if he was fit, he must have been deliberately that slow
Hey thanks Jamie, to be honest I've been a bit all over the place recently, I'm going to try to move it back to Friday, but there might be two videos next week
From what I've read, he was way behind the pack, so far behind that the people working the race had already left the trail and didn't even realize he was still on the mountain.. so it's not like he vanished in front of people and probably fell into a hole/crevice of some sort. Over the years, animals and decomposition led to vanished.
I read he was 45 min behind the person they thought was last. The people at the top checking the racers had already started to come down after first being told there was no one else then when they were told there was one more one of them turned around and went back up a little ways and waited and Paul never showed up. I think I also heard this same thing on the Steve Stockton missing stories I can't remember the name of the channel. But it mentioned the fact he was 45 min behind the last person and there was some miscommunication with the people checking the racers at the top and they didn't find out til they were halfway down there was one racer left. Idk how they come up with the time other than Paul had passed some people coming down and he asked them how much farther it was to the top.
I thin I think he crawled into a small cave he stumbled upon either to rest for a minute and get out of the rain and wind or because he had injured himself and was seeking shelter because his injury was so disabling for him. Remember this man was lightly dressed. He must have been very scared and unsure of his ability to finish the race. Personally I think he just want to rest out of the elements just long enough to reenergise. I also think he probably found a hidehole to rest in and simply fell asleep and the cold took him in his sleep. He's up there. People are just looking in the wrong spots. Or the other thought I had was maybe he literally fell off the mountain and whatever he fell from, fell too and covered his body. I think fresh eyes might help in rethinking what logically could have happened to him. He is up there, and my bet is that if he's ever found it will be either in or under something. Hiding out of the weather.
With all of the people on the mountain during this, would have made it very difficult for the dogs. Not being found with hi-res photos is odd. Another great video. Thank you.
I was just thinking the same thing. Runners excrete a lot of sweat. That could of overloaded the dogs noses. I could be wrong but I think police sniffer dogs in London, UK only work for about 20 minutes & they are given a break. Something to do with their noses getting overloaded so they do not overwork them. So those dog's noses could of had too many strong scents of lot's of people which messed up their noses for one specific scent. I never knew about people with hypothermia burrowing. I've heard a few stories of people rammed into small spaces which now I can understand.
So glad to see you are still forging ahead and continuing to produce awesome videos. You have a great style. I love your videos. You’re good at what you do and I hope you continue to do so, and I hope you get the satisfaction and happiness you deserve.
Old dudes don't always know when to quit. In the non-athletic category, there was the elderly surgeon who didn't get my mother's eye quite right. At least it was fixable. This guy did not bother to walk the roiute before the race.
I'm the age now Paul was when he ran Mt Marathon. I have run races of different lengths and terrains. There's a similar race here in Whistler BC called "The Mudder". Several years ago I considered doing it but I got an injury at work which kept me from running for years so I never attempted it. I wouldn't now consider doing that kind of race at my age. I am getting back into running and hope to do another marathon but I don't overestimate my abilities, which, sadly, some people do. The fact that Paul did not heed at least 2 warnings to NOT do the race tells us, I think, something about his personality. He may have been quite intelligent in may ways, but it sounds like common sense wasn't his strong point ...especially since Adam pointed out that guy had a history of participating in events for which he wasn't really trained. The fact that he'd come to no harm then probably boosted his sense that he was pretty invincible....who knows? In any case, since we are looking at this from the outside it seems really inexplicable. But I bet it isn't really. If his body is ever found (and I agree that succumbing to the elements, dying, then being eaten by scavengers would do a good job of "disappearing" him), it will probably turn out to be something that makes sense.
I think it is possible that he succumed to hyporthermia if he was stuck on top of the mountain and bears aren't found that high up on the mountain so falling victim to a bear attack is extremely unlikely a scenario
I love these videos! With that being said, maybe a bit less repetitive talk about how the search dogs didn't find anything. The search dogs NEVER find anybody who is missing so it's not surprising or odd. I would love to see some videos where a person went missing mysteriously and the search dogs are why they were found.
That's what distracted me too. And he repeats it quite often in other videos too making it the main issue that dogs couldn't trace him. I think he often leads narrative in a way which makes it more mysterious than it is. There was fog and rain, dogs wouldn't find anything. And in combination with his poor sight I'd guess he simply went too far on cliff and didn't realize it was the edge already and fell down somewhere.
This was a fascinating case for the state of AK. I have done the mountain myself as a day hike. I think he wanted to start a new life, as he would have been found by now, or at least some bone or clothes.
Thank you, this is the first time ive heard a similiar theory, his wife asking for a death certificate a week later only adds to that, as if they planned it as to collect the life insurance money.
@@osakarose5612 and people fail to recognize how difficult that actually is you can’t just disappear and start a new life with nothing. This certainly wouldn’t have been the way he went about it and how the fuck are you gonna do that without any money without any trace, I mean honestly, that possibility sounds even more ridiculous then the more unexplained wants to be honest.
Hmm...jogged off trail, got hurt in the process, it's already cold, and foggy, lots of scents everywhere, mountain terrain is already difficult to search, just bizarre that he left the main trail at all.
I don’t think you understand the terrain at all you can’t go off trail there’s one trail and it’s pretty much fucking straight up there’s really nowhere else to go but straight up or down the mountain and you can see the beginning from anywhere up there. I mean you’re not just gonna like venture off there’s no vegetation you’re not gonna venture off anywhere it’s just not possible like I said, you can literally see all the way up the mountain from the bottom and it’s straight up, you’re not jogging anywhere you’re literally climbing straight up and sliding straight down lol
Yes and THAT'S the part that can't be explained away. Could he have slipped off the trail? Banged his head, become disoriented, etc etc? People who know the mountain would have considered all these possibilities (and they were the ones searching for him, right?) However, I do agree that he was too confident in his abilities AND he ignored the advice to NOT run the race if he'd never even been on the mountain.
@@johannaholmgren8088 it’s possible he could go a little ways off the trail but like I said, it’s also open everything is very visible if not accessible on foot or not readily accessible. The thing is they started the search for him so promptly, and there was so many people involved in so much technology involved he should’ve been found or somethings should have been found of him, you know a heat signature anything but they didn’t find any of that and it’s not like there’s tons of wildlife around like a bear is not going to grab you off of a busy marathon trail. You know that’s just not gonna happen in this particular situation, and because they were aware of his whereabouts he was yes, he was behind the curve, but they knew that he was up there, and they were awaiting his return at the bottom, they wait for everyone to finish and check in at the finish line so they were expecting him within a certain timeframe based upon where he passed Trail personnel or race personnel. Whatever you wanna call them very near to the summit somebody should’ve seen him making his dissent at some point in time like I said it’s very visible. There’s tons of people there for this race I myself have not done it it’s well beyond my capabilities, but my boyfriend has the risk of injury is pretty significant in this race and I don’t care how physically fit you are when I read his age I thought I don’t think it’s that age this would be a race I would be tackling regardless of my abilities so you know I’m pretty physically fit, but I’m also very scared of heights. I don’t like the severe grade on some of these mountains that’s really the biggest issue for me is the Heights thing, but nonetheless, you wouldn’t think he would want to go through with it if he had never trained on that mountain. I mean it’s easy to look at it and think that it’s easy but when you actually look at a realistic guide, which is available online that shows you the course and what it looks like what the grade is at each area it’s really the dissent that is the roughest part because you’re basically sliding down you know with your back against the mountain or the ground and going down street vertical in a lot of points but you know it’s still just doesn’t explain why they didn’t find him. It’s easy to understand how he could’ve been injured or incapacitated in someway, but it doesn’t explained the fact that he wasn’t found.
Hello Adam Thank you for keeping Missing people's thoughts . What is it. Adam These mountains taking people Paul sounds Amazing Strong Athlete The famous Actor. Vannised on mountain nothing ever found I will sit back. Listen Best Yvonne Mullion Cornwall England 🏴
It would be useful to know more about his personal life… emails, colleagues, financial issues etc etc and all that. Because to leave ZERO trace, this long; on a blatantly obvious, and crowded mountain trail leaves- in my mind- only 2 choices: he arranged his disappearance ( someone/something waiting just over the other side of the summit??) or- paranormal/extraterrestrial. Because tracking dogs CAN pick up scent many days old, and discern between the target scent and other smells.( ie; the other runners). The conditions stated in this case are conducive to scent dogs being successful. Given the size and geography of this mountain it would be REALLY hard to sneak a helicopter in and out for him to leave in.And he couldn’t have navigated down the other side of the mountain without leaving some trace. So for a quick flight off that mountain, that leaves only UFO, with- idk- cloaking capabilities?? Or some hole or cave or crevasse that NO ONE knows about?? Despite the high traffic of that mountain?? Weird. So yeah; I’d be curious to know more about the man and what he might’ve been into. God bless the poor family- very sorry for their loss, and lack of closure 💔
Adam have you checked out the disappearance of Finn Creaney. Might make for an interesting video. Hope your well. I had to repost my comment twice due to typos sorry im out in the elements
How do they know for certain though which route Paul might have tried to take going down the mountain because they might have been looking in a different location to where he actually was I mean they didn't realise that he was missing until they came down the mountain so he really could have been anywhere
if you are familiar at all with Mount Marathon, you would realize that there’s only one way up and one way down in that respect it’s extremely steep grade it’s almost straight up in a lot of spots and literally the entire face of the mountain is visible. There’s no tree or plant cover, so it would’ve been very obvious where he was coming down and it’s not like you would be able to go down on foot just anywhere I mean the trip down is basically straight vertical in a lot of places so you’re basically sliding down sheer rock face he should’ve been easily found
I think the hide n die syndrome is perplexing in that, the smart people think it's an autonomous evolution reaction and says it's the same as hibernating mammals. But when did humans ever hibernate is my question???
Paul went past the false summit turn around and kept going until he was completely lost and disoriented. I read that he would stop and eat snacks along the way….placing him further behind everyone else. He wandered until he collapsed or fell down somewhere. I’m sure the snacks he had with him attracted a wild animal or two. It was not a pleasant end for him.
Poor eyesight bad weather and adrenalin pumping. Maybe wandered off trail and just kept going hoping to find his way. Hard for dogs to track in rainy weather. I have noticed that the last hike people take, trying to survive, in desperation can be up to 20 miles....We cannot know for sure. RIP.....

This is just so strange, if he passed away up there, you would think they would find something, just my opinion, but maybe he did leave to start a new life, that would explain why he maybe purposely fell so far behind, or was taken by something,, a lot of people go missing in Alaska
Having been following these m411 cases for years and years. This is what happened I think ... he walked through a portal not even realising he did, then discovered he's in a different space time, tried to retrace his foot steps maybe but the portal has already been closed or moved. Also some other beings may have been involved, maybe.
I had Mrs. Seward (married to grandson of Wm. Seward) for 5th grade. She was such an awesome teacher. We were even given the opportunity to view high school films in the 5th grade. ❤️👍 p.s. the name is Seward not Sheward.
Most likely scenario is that Paul lost the course and either succumbed to the elements or fell into a crevasse. Too much foot traffic could easily confound the dogs.
He was the literal last one though that should have at least helped some with dog teams and all, its just not finding him at all is quite bizarre, but hey if he's still not found even 10 years from now, potentially not natural, if he is found in that time less likely but still maybe unnatural.
His wife tried to sue the organisers. Either it was a scam cooked up by both of them, the wife had someone waiting for him to ‘get rid’ or he ‘disappeared’ on purpose. But it’s a very bizarre case.
Wow u really like starting rumors or leaping to the worst possible conclusions about total strangers without evidence because it’s what you do/how you think? It’s also possible and much more likely that he was injured and got stuck/lost/fell, as many race participants do. Additionally trying to sue for not having trail safety ppl or markers and losing her husband doesn’t seem like “a scam”. It sounds like a grieving family. Sheesh!
@@monaw6484I am entitled to my opinion. And I reckon a few people are thinking the same as me. It is a plausible theory, and if you don’t agree, fine. But why be so snippy about it.
Two missing 411 cases have been found dead after decades for the hunter, and had nothing paranormal ....a hunter and a hiker woman ....!both fell and we're immediately covered by earth and debris for the woman and a boulder for the hunter ......
As a sluth, i believe this was a purposeful vanishing. Its not mentioned much but it wasnt long after he was missing (like a week) when the wife was trying to get a death certificate for Paul, and for what other reason than to collect on the life insurance policy. I hope im wrong , but again im a sluth and thats the only thing that makes sense, unless you want to get bizzare.
They searched a huge area. They had dogs searching as well. Not even one piece of gear or drop of blood of his was found. I think he disappeared on purpose for some reason.
The guy had poor eyesight, never walked the trail (even though he was told to do so), didn't have water and didn't have the proper clothing for hike/run. He probably slipped/fell and was covered by the earth. Plus he was 65 years of age. It doesn't matter how in shape a person, age eventually catches up to all of us.
Its a strange story , Paul could have had a heart attack and fell off the mountain but one would expect him to be found eventually. I think maybe he was attached by wild animals and dragged away from the location and killed then eaten 🤔
Has anyone ever seen a cow suddenly be sucked up into the sky by a UFO & disappear into a low cloud ????? I have seen a video taken by a farmer watching one of his cows suddenly lifting into the sky never to be seen again. This man & many other ppl who disappear without a trace may disappear the same way as the cow, simply being lifted into the sky so quickly that by the time that the person reacts to the event they are too far away to be heard screaming & never to be seen again.
When you say ‘tracking dogs’ do you mean cadaver dogs or ISO a live person? Do the dogs have a proven success rate? I’ve heard the reliability of tracking dogs as a whole being less than 70%. Have you heard a different number?
What if he used being lost in the race as a way to start a new life somewhere? I mean he was 45min behind everyone else so he couldnt havw been great at marathons or he did it on purpose.
Young and old they vanish. Intriguing. Alarming. Frightening what more can you think where do they go. And why do they go at sea once you below surface. You have basically gone. But on a mountain well
Someone who is an experienced marathon runner can very easily in 8 hours travel outside the 20 square mile area that was searched. As for the search dogs not catching his scent, that is also not surprising considering wind conditions and the number of people in the race who would had left hundreds of scent along the trail. Can a dog really pick out one scent among the 300 to 400 people who were in the race when it's all mixed up and after 8 hours? I think Paul LeMaitre got lost due to his poor eyesight and decide to simply go down the mountain by whatever direction he could; when the search began 8 hours later, he would had been well beyond 5 miles away and outside the 20 square mile area that was searched. He then got in an accident and could not signal for help.
Why would they expect the dogs to pick up his scent on a mountain that lots of different people were running on He probably went down the other side of the mountain
Hey all,
I've always found Paul's disappearance fascinating and I thought it was worth revisiting in more detail than I had originally. There's never really been a conclusion even all this time after.
There also wasn't much discussion online about his disappearance, so what do you think?
It's like he was lifted straight off the ground and something flew off with him. RIP Paul, I will say a prayer for him.
I think that the complete lack of anything being found, a voluntary disappearance could be possible but it is strange
Possibly a very dumb question,

Great job on this video.
Isn't it possible he was buried in snow possibly by falling?
That's an interesting thought, I could imagine being completely encased like that might really confuse the search
The dogs may have been confused because so many people had passed through the area also I believe damp will deaden scent good video
Yeah! This is a great point, seen it mentioned a couple of times
No, because dogs are trained to distinguish between their target scent and the scent of others.
Thank you TM. More craziness.🙏😳💔
This is a crazy one as well, people all around, and yet gone, wow.
I wouldn't even get halfway. I'd be dying because I'm in horrible shape! I hope the guy didn't slip and fall down a cliff.
What a painful way to go. 😢😢😢
Thanks for looking into Paul's disappearance case, and very respectful to all.
Cheers 💙 774👍🏼👍🏼
A Wednesday video?! What a treat
This was a fascinating case for the state of AK. I have done the mountain myself as a day hike. I think he wanted to start a new life, as he would have been found by now, or at least some bone or clothes.
He's dead. Not living a new life.
Very true, it's not really clear at all why or how he did that
I don’t think you understand the terrain at all you can’t go off trail there’s one trail and it’s pretty much fucking straight up there’s really nowhere else to go but straight up or down the mountain and you can see the beginning from anywhere up there.

As my main man once said. A man has to know his limitations!!
A person can be book smart and earn a PhD. but it doesn’t mean they are intelligent in every way. Not saying that was the case here.
But wouldn't an abduction (UFO) be just as obvious as a helicopter to others around?
Oh, please, not aliens, portals or yetis. It’s all nonsense.
Aliens are Real@@borleyboo5613
Good video
I think he organized his own disappearance, last in line and his wife eager for a huge settlement ...stinks to high heaven.
Maybe he slipped and fell into some sort of hole that covered up with snow from the fall which could be easily overlooked.
I hiked part of this mountain in 2022. It was beautiful.
Adam have you checked out the disappearance of Finn Creaney. Might make for an interesting video. Hope your well. I had
to repost my comment twice due to typos sorry im out in the elements
How do they know for certain though which route Paul might have tried to take going down the mountain because they might have been looking in a different location to where he actually was I mean they didn't realise that he was missing until they came down the mountain so he really could have been anywhere
if you are familiar at all with Mount Marathon, you would realize that there’s only one way up and one way down in that respect it’s extremely steep grade it’s almost straight up in a lot of spots and literally the entire face of the mountain is visible. There’s no tree or plant cover, so it would’ve been very obvious where he was coming down and it’s not like you would be able to go down on foot just anywhere I mean the trip down is basically straight vertical in a lot of places so you’re basically sliding down sheer rock face he should’ve been easily found
I do believe he fell or "hid and died". I have watched trail rescuers, and even the most experienced hikers have never been found.

A portal? Bro you been watching too much television.
I had Mrs. Seward (married to grandson of Wm. Seward) for 5th grade. She was such an awesome teacher. We were even given the opportunity to view high school films in the 5th grade. ❤️👍
p.s. the name is Seward not Sheward.
It's called an accent
Most likely scenario is that Paul lost the course and either succumbed to the elements or fell into a crevasse. Too much foot traffic could easily confound the dogs.
Yes! Very good point about the sheer traffic on the mountain, I can see how that might confuse the dogs.
He was the literal last one though that should have at least helped some with dog teams and all, its just not finding him at all is quite bizarre, but hey if he's still not found even 10 years from now, potentially not natural, if he is found in that time less likely but still maybe unnatural.
I notice you don't "let's get bizarre" any more. Too bad. Thanks
I live here....this was the oddest. To see the mount 1st than you understand h ow weird.
@osakarose5612 ... like an online detective
I think he disappeared on purpose too. It’s the only explanation that remotely makes sense. But even that doesn’t makes sense.
Thats what you do when someone is missing for a week and presumed dead... you get a death certificate
"infrared radar" is not a thing.
I love it..
My guess is a fall and getting buried under a rock slide.
ADAM HERE
I thought that the was a lady who went missing on mountain..while training for race
Its a strange story , Paul could have had a heart attack and fell off the mountain but one would expect him to be found eventually. I think maybe he was attached by wild animals and dragged away from the location and killed then eaten 🤔
I don’t care how well you are in running, hiking ETC…. Being 65 years old, your to old to be doing this Especially in Alaska! Are you kidding me!!
Non of this footage is actually of Mt Marathon...Not a single mountain in this video is Mt Marathon.
It’s not the first there was another one a girl named Jenna during a practice run up Mt. Marathon
epic af
Has anyone ever seen a cow suddenly be sucked up into the sky by a UFO & disappear into a low cloud ????? I have seen a video taken by a farmer watching one of his cows suddenly lifting into the sky never to be seen again. This man & many other ppl who disappear without a trace may disappear the same way as the cow, simply being lifted into the sky so quickly that by the time that the person reacts to the event they are too far away to be heard screaming & never to be seen again.
Id like to c this video!

Nah, I don’t believe that at all.
Codswallop!
When you say ‘tracking dogs’ do you mean cadaver dogs or ISO a live person? Do the dogs have a proven success rate?
I’ve heard the reliability of tracking dogs as a whole being less than 70%. Have you heard a different number?
Very good show.
Perhaps there was no trace of him because he was never there to begin with.
Horizontal beach in Mexico with a young woman
Why would they expect the dogs to pick up his scent on a mountain that lots of different people were running on
He probably went down the other side of the mountain
Because the dogs are trained to track the scent of their target and ignore the scent of others.
fell in a hole
by far and away the most likely case
@@jamesknapp64 my friend was walking in his yard and fell through into his septic tank lol
Maybe he did make it down, and was abducted before he reached the town again.
Something paranormal is going on here. Sounds like another missing 411 case.
100% some fae incident or portal
the scent was there the dogs just don't want to follow it
dont sent dissapear fast?.. cant be there forever
I believe one of the bad entities took Paul!
Really interesting. I've never heard this case before.
