I would suggest an inexpensive Chromebook for out-and-about Cafe table duties and base the beast at one apartment or the other.

I understand your reaction to a bad event prompting feelings of gratitude. Years ago I had my first electric bike stolen. I'd gotten rid of my car when I moved to Portland, OR so my bike was my transportation. I felt really down as I filed the police report and then walked to a few bike shops that serviced electric bikes to let them know about my stolen bike. But as I walked I passed people that were having much harder days than I was. I passed a girl crying to a friend because her boy friend had dumped her. I passed a very elderly man slowly pulling his groceries behind him in a cart. I passed some homeless people. And gradually I realized just how lucky I was. I had friends and loved ones and a home to shelter me. I ended up feeling gratitude for the life I had rather than mourning the bike I had lost. It was a great reminder of what matters in life. I"m glad that you have that strong network of friends around the world. Your videos are wonderful to watch. (End of bike story: 6 years later I got the stolen bike back. Amazing, huh? I already had a replacement bike so I gave it away to a friend.)

If your laptop has a TPM chip consider enabling bitlocker. It will encrypt the drive and require a pin at boot time. Thus if this laptop is stolen the thieves don't have access to your data

On backing up your stuff, have you considered a service like Backblaze? I’ve used them for years, and it’s nice to know that all my stuff is backed up somewhere.

In California what happened to you is called grand theft person if your backpack had been on your person when it was taken without violence or a threat of violence. Based on your description of what occurred, your property was stolen. A sneak thief took it. You were not robbed. You were not “mugged.”

I am American but I got an AZERTY keyboard and it was a great decision because it is so much easier to write in French now.
When you showed the desk at first, I confess I thought, “Jay needs to dust” 😂😂😂 I’m so excited at the quality of Razer you were able to get! My teen kiddo has a bunch of Razer accessories. I’m not going to show him the laptop you just got or I’ll not hear the end of it. I’m so excited about what you’ll be able to do with it! #silverlinings #community 💗

Hi Jay great laptop and im stuck with old windows vista lol but i can watch ur vids
I do like my QWERTZ keyboard
(though I do live in Germany)
because you can do a lot more accented letters
and the Z and Y shift isn't too hard
I had used a Finnish keyboard before
it is QWERTY with the extra letters
and é and è etc for the French words in Swedish
I do have my keyboard mapping to German
and the operating system to English
Not sure what my regional settings are
I might have chosen Irish
as they use metric and the Euro
It is now hard for my fingers to locate a Z or Y
on a QWERTY keyboard and
all the things like ()&$€¢ø"
not sure if I can make a cé cédille
but I don't write French that often.
