@@Egbert2011Games well i know hes a pretty big fan of Converge and The Dillinger Escape Plan, and other metalcore acts like Integrity and Nails, I just never thought he was into the more MySpace-era style of metalcore that SYSC is reviving on this album. Really glad to see he enjoyed it though, hopefully he covers more bands like this in future vids.
@Dekai Averett yeah that's the movement I was talking about when i said Myspace era lol, bands like Heavy Heavy Low Low and Drop Dead Gorgeous and Fear Before The March Of Flames (which their vocalist Connie has said greatly influenced their sound)
I was. There is a lot of buzz around this band. I also expected him to like it. His tastes in punk seem to be he likes 'smart' underground bands with hardcore influences (I don't know if he cares for the movement or not, but he's given the Touche Amore/La Defeater/Piano's Become Teeth good ratings). The bands he seems to dislike are the ones that don't have as pronounced hardcore influences (thrice/thursday/circa survive) or are vapid/flipant (Dance Gavin Dance).

I'd be interested to know what you thought of their 2021 release, especially now that there's more vocal layering and melodic sections in the new tracks. (Sorry if you've already reviewed it I didn't see a video for The Romance of Affliction on the channel.)
He covered it in a yunoreview, he thought it was fine but didn’t get much out of it other than some nostalgia

I mean they’re not underground for our scene but in the grand scheme of things they are underground, outside of the bigger bands like knocked loose. Like counterparts for example, huge within our scene, but at the end of the day if u don’t listen to metalcore you won’t know about counterparts

I saw these play their hearts out at a bar Lafayette Louisiana (a small town in a swamp). It was monday night with 50 people. I have to admire what they are doing.

This band reminds me a lot of Pg. 99, in a good way. Also, "Stop Calling Us Screamo" is the most screamo track title ever lol
didn’t know anything about them, looked at the thumbnail, thought they were a lofi hip hop artist, thought the must be reallly good if fantano is reviewing a found them on Spotify, listened to the first song, and boy was I wrong.

Those amazing song titles alone made me want to check this out.
I sincerely miss when your comments section was mostly people talking about what you were reviewing. I really love this band and this kind of music and it just sucks not seeing people talking how great it is and what similar artists they like I would when you were even around 200k to 300k subs.
I really dug this comp though, but I do agree that having a bit more risk taking would be nice and I really hope their first proper album has some longer cuts on it. It might be cool if they occasionally let their songs just breathe a bit more often
Cool review Melon. I had a chance to see these guys late last year, and they killed it. Got to talk to the band members and they're very cool.

I WAS HOPING FOR YOU TO REVIEW OMG I LOVE YOU.
This band is bringing back mid 2000’s post-hardcore/emo/metalcore, even with the ridiculously long zany song titles that are reminiscent of the MySpace era.
This sound gave me flashbacks of 2003. Really reminded me of The Red Chord. If you haven't listened to Nihilist by them do yourself a favor.

Orchid, pg. 99, City Of Caterpillar, Lord Snow, iwrotehaikusaboutcannibalism..., Mahria, etc. Skramz has constant time signature changes, and no breakdowns in it, and the instrumentation is far different. SYSC is metalcore, mathcore if anything else.

Hey, glad to hear you have positive things to say about this band, I was into metalcore in HS, and I'm hoping more bands like this lead to a revival of sorts (hopefully with some creative growth along the way). But I have been enjoying them a lot. I am not sure if you have ever listened to "Psyopus", they're sort of math metal, and I would love to know your opinion on them. SeeYouSpaceCowboy reminds me a lot of them, especially regarding the instrumental aspect, and the vocals to some extent.

I really enjoyed this comp...if others enjoyed it i highly suggest checking out portrayal of guilt, who dropped a really brutal but also beautiful debut late last year
